  1. I'd never do it in a paying park. But as Jim's seen, I park as far away as possible in any CPark. But due to the imaculate paint job aquiring some new chips and dents, I've decided to take 2 spaces if the (free) car park is empty at one end. Even when I had found quiet ends of car parks, I often find people park next to you, even when they could've used any other space; excluding Jim, I knew he wasn't about to dent the C. But those who do dent the car, have never left a sorry note with contact details. Never have and never will use Dis' bays and reluctant to use Parent bays simply due to kiddy winkles swinging around thier toys, whilst mummy tries to pick up lil Freddy and scrapes her handbag along your car door. Its so bad that I go to the effort of parking in the DIY store car park and walk over to the shop in Leamington (its a very short and worth while walk).
  2. Be a good time to change the air filter too. Ohhh, and the oil too, you could be on a roll ;) Did you buy the spark-plug socket? Handy tool indeedy
  3. Why buy an old car? Surely you want good handling and reliability to go with that "quicker" car. Correct me if Im wrong, but I remember reports on the Mk2 MR2 back in the day, and they were supposed to be leathal compared to Mk1. I see loads of them about and most seem to be modded and therefore might be very good for performance etc. Get one of those? Anyhow, thats still going to cost you, being old, certain bits will wear out soon. IMO get a VR, if maintenance upkeep is not an issue for you. Why not go for a Civic R, or better still a 350z? All depends on funds I guess. NB: I left the Golf Mk5 out for a poor reason; the interior is barely any better than a Megan. But atleast you'd expect it to be sound.
  4. I got mine directly off Sigma (the people who make them); for a reasonable price (less than Halfords). I added a boarder and Euro sign and Carbon letters. Plates cost about £12 each; plus sticky pads. Being Sigma, I know they are road legal. I was worried they would fall off, but have not yet. They bent just fine to the front bumper, as seen from link on sig. No water marks yet either, over 12 months old now.
  5. Sounds very nice; whats he looking for £3000+? If you're getting someone to look for you, ie Kev, then no worries. Accelerator seems to be in need of TLC. ps - as for adding pics, you can either directly upload some small pics here, or alternatively upload to anotehr (host) site, such as the one shown in my sig and then give us the link, try not to use the IMG tool if the pics are huge!!
  6. to make life more simple, the BUYING GUIDE is HERE CLICK http://www.the-corrado.net/wiki/index.p ... _Checklist I presume you're talking about a 16v and not a VR? If in doubt, just leave it. There are plenty of decent ones out there, just be prepared to pay a bit. You could try phoning that company on the top of that letter head just to see if they still exsist. Why was it changed? Was it a performance upgrade or was the car ragged to death? (thus meaning clutch etc etc etc probably naffed too)
  7. I'd agree, good tips. Should be able to do it on the car. I only took mine off to take a closer look at the bearings to ensure they were not pitted. Greased it all up and put back together (on the Golf). As said, just takes careful brute force - gently tapping either side of central.
  8. I have run both. Hard to compare as I also changed springs and obviously had different rubber. Ignoring the fact that the standard springs made the car roll more, it still remains that I could feel the tyres flex more on the 15" too; a higher pressure dials most of it out. The loss of grip (going to a 15") can only be two possible things for me: 1. Make of tyre; Dunlops not being as grippy as the Toyos prox. 2. Although the 15" are 7j wide, they came with 195 and not 205 which the 17"'s had - thats gotta make a difference too. I think I'd go for some 17"s if I were going on the track, but as you say you have to be super aware of potholes and gives spine tingling ride. I got to say I'd love a set of 16x7's
  9. And Kev hits his 17 thousand post mark, (no, not The clap). I think we've brought this up before; those people accelerating when being overtook are just a big danger! We're back to OWNING the Road. ... and Jay brings up another pet hate and making my point much more clear. The amount of times that happens and you just know that when you leave the 30 you'll be catching them up again. Or nearly as bad is when they're behind you - its a regular one when i go home and have left Mr-45 behind in the national and then see him bearing down on my spoiler 1/2 mile into the 30. As I say I hate it when they get too close. I only do it when ready for an overtake. Just the other day girl on a Corsa caught me as she was easily doing 43 in the given 30 zone; about 3ft from my bumper. I was so miffed that she was too close that I stuck my hand out the window and waved her past. On that note, as I watched in my mirror, I saw her little hand go up to appologies and she dropped back 6 car lengths - showing that she fully knew she was in the wrong.
  10. Wheels look good; what size are they 16" ? (a good size IMO) And get those old Yokos off and put some decent rubber on ;)
  11. As said above, seems there is a small oil leak from the top of the oil filter housing where a cable goes in. Presume it is some kind of sensor. :?: - is this normal to go? - will it just be a seal? - or more likely the sensor perrished? a - is it safe to undo (looks to be 23mm) ??? b - or should all the oil be dropped out first? any tips would be great! Id refer to the naffy manual i have, but stuff like that it just says "remove filter, remove sensor, put back together, simple!"
  12. Bit of an odd one there. Its not very common to see a 50 where I live, except duel-carriageways - so thats not an issue. I've only seen a few 50mph A roads and can see that they are there for a reason, some nasty junctions or whatever and people dont slow down - but in the main they tend to be quick roads, where common sense is applied. But if you were talking about a 60*, then I'd be getting quite hacked off with the que of traffic doing 45 too. I get even more hacked when the sheepish kind sit too close to the person infront, meaning those who do want to over take have to take several cars at once. I only condone close driving if you're sure you're going to overtake soon. Funny vectra got a mention; only the other day I took the folks out for a meal in the gf's Megan. Caught up traffic easily but knew the Megan was in no fit state to overtake - so sat far back, meaning I can relax more. Sure enough a Vaux caught up and overtook; chose not to pop infront of me and proceeded to overtake the next 2 cars at which point they were all passing a crossroads. I think I must have backed off to 30, just waiting for a car to pull out and metal parts to go flying [luckily nothing came]. I'd never attempt to stop someone like that overtaking and would even go to the evasive action of braking if I thought the driver had got it wrong. * even if it was a 50, who's to say someone cant speed; it may even be an unmarked passing you. And how many people exceed the limit in the more dangerous places - 30's and 40's? Nearly every g*d d*** person; the worst being the ones who aren't even paying attnetion to the road (ref: 'the usual suspects' - ie Mums, mob users, drunks).
  13. You know it! ;) We (you too)/I'd be the busiest traffic-copper in the UK, lol 8) Wouldn't call it rough justice; more the opposite. Only the real idiots anoy me, but those people I'd pick fault at everything. Comparedto a decent driver with one fault, I'd be inclined to go easy on. I hear thats what a lot of cops do; shame there aren't many of those on the roads. I wonder how many unmarked cars there are in any given area? I never see panda cars about my town except the ones that are meant for domestic jibbery and are oblivious to all sorts of naffy driving about them. Exactly, I'd much prefer people to be careful than full on idot and cause a dangerous situation. I bit my tongue with the stupid people who are careful but when it comes to dangerous or blatant "up yours" attitude, then I get hacked! I've mentioned it once before, about women becoming more aggressive than before, more like blokes have been for ages, but with a twist. Its now 50(per) worse out there. Every Corrado for him/herself - I joke but its kinda true.
  14. quite, ;) Sounds good to me. :) Loadsa people mention paying over £1000 on here. As its a cheap car, TPFT seems better for me. Will only go FC when I need to borrow a car. I've got more NC and age on my side and Im still looking at £600/yr FC with no crashes or pts or anything. ps - welcome pps - "need to save for a car" -- and any possible fixes/spares etc.
  15. 1. spare fan belt so that Mr Breakdown has no excuses 2. Works site hat. Map on back seat. Otherwise kept clear. I hate clutter in my car. Wheras the gf seemed to keep a spare wardribe in her car, lol.
  16. cool ; a price would be good too. Not best pleased with vag at the moment. Quoted my £89 to plug into vagcom just to see why my abs light is on. Will just check the basics as Tempest told me to.
  17. I would've gone for the fuel filter too. But if its electrical related, can you use vagcom? People go on about crudd at the bottom of the tank, but that the old rusty ones; I presume you run it low normally; so probably coincidence. Presume its getting everything ok; fuel / air. Its easy to check the air stuff. Then get onto the fuel lines/pump etc.
  18. Never saw much of it my self, until they made it illegal. The past month I can gurantee I saw someone using one on the way home every day! You can often tell, as they either hopp into lane 1 of motorway, go slow from lights, or swerve about on an A road. You can often pull alongside them and they are totally oblivious to you.
  19. If you're happy with a tyre, stick with it. Just remember what ever new tyre you get, they will have huge tread and therefore move more and feel a bit wobly/less-traction. Bed them in as you would with the Triumph. Im sure there is a Tyre Discussion thread somewhere. Lots of people like Toyo Porxes and I can vouch for those too, but beware they wear very quickly. I got 5k mile out the fronts. My Dunlop 9000s are ok but not great in the wet and the Yokos on the rear are scarey in wet.
  20. These can be a real pain to find. Does it loose a lot of fluid? If so, I'd be hoping to see the leak when the system is running. If the hoses are old, it maybe worth changing them anyway.
  21. 2.0L 16v - SEE THE WIKI - thats what its there for ;)
  22. I'd agree with these guys. Sorry that Im unable to measure my standard springs, but they're on my car, lol. Im sure the SPAX will be -40mm; as thats what came off my car. Why not contact SPAX ?? Which kit did you get; either of these TWO? (both of them lower the car) Why not sell one set on here or ebay to get money back or even a profit? Stu ps - what wheels you got on it now? Been ages since I last saw you posting about all this
  23. Sorry, didnt know it was high speed. As we've all said, sounds like discs + pads, you need new ones. Had it been wheel weights, then yep you'd feel it at high speed without braking. Nearly no judder at low speed but braking can exagerate the problem. It'll do you good to check over the brakes.
  24. If the rest of the car is mint, then it seems fair for a 2.0L, as a fully functional one will fetch £2,800+ in the Mids. Offer £2k imo
