  1. stemid - if you're low on funds, do you seriously want to put on 80mm lowers just yet? It would be more cost efficient to do the whole job at once if you're going to do the shocks etc later ; if you drop the car you will need to reset the camber etc , and if you don't have the tools that might cost £40+
  2. If 16v says his dash vibrated, can only believe him. There are so many different sheilds on this darn car. The ones at the back of the engine bay just seem to clip onto locators on mine; thats very close to the dash. I found my sheild much lower down was loose and vibrated - this simply made a terrible noise and no incar worries. Always check the cheapest items first. Costs nothing to check for a loose sheild. Then start probing for the expensive bits STORM 2 - I presume the steering wheel vibrated badly though?
  3. Finally found that anoying rattle noise coming from the engine bay. Having gotten worse over the last 3 months, we threw it up on the lift. Its was simply the heat sheild to the down pipe that meets the cat; so just clipped it and all's well. Wierd not to hear it at 2k-revs now, lol. Happy
  4. ^ outsmarts the VW technicians and spots a fuel economy saving, lol, , or not. It can be turned off easily, surely, its only electrical. But how?
  5. The work should be corrected for free, but its the inconvenience of it all. And what ever happened to having a duty of care? Poor setup could've resulted in greenbelt having a prang!
  6. Agree with Kev, but if you are going to replace them to get them out means you won't care if you b*gger them. a) Hitting will most probably damage them. Gripping would be better. You're only trying to stop the shocks rod from rotating. If you're ditching it, I'd swing on the top mount and see if it comes undone. If so, bobs you're unkle. b) Yet if it keeps rotating, can you cut (hacksaw) through the top of the threaded shock where you're 7mm allen key does not fit and use a flat screw-driver to hold it still? ©Alternatively file some flats on the thread, but that means the nut won't come off easily. What size is that top nut? Is it about a 14mm? Guess it looks similar to this but key hole is naffed. I hate shoddy workmen Full replacement tips
  7. Will You want to check the whole site using 'search', but lets hope some people can give you a quick summary. A useful part of the site is the Knowledgebase CLICK ME. Then more specifically the Buying guide CLICK - checklist is a must see. Where to find one? The usual Auto Trader & ebay, but also This Site, where you'll find loads of C's in different livery. Im interested to know the VR6 v G60 discussion... ; I can only dream what a VR feels like to grunt past anything, as you may know the 1.8 & 2.0 16v are average-joe
  8. I take it he must have slid along past your car to do all that damage to his car. Otherwise he must have hit you hard, and that would damage your bumper brackets, possibly exhaust brakets etc. Hence as I said before, go through your insurance. Unless you dont care and rather go get the work done out your own pocket, if its too much hassle for you.
  9. OMG! Was the fekker insured? Many peeps aren't yu know. Suppose you exchanged details?? Do not offer to do this outside insurance. If he/she tries to pay directly for work, it could go wrong - I know, its happened. Then you'd have no come back if the workmanship was shoddy; eg if colour was wrong. Jade - you got parking sensors on your bumper?
  10. corradokid - your answers are in the 1st two posts. And infact ebay will remove any bad feedback given to you regarding this matter should the seller be arsy enough; thus no effect. Learn from this and dont buy without seeing.
  11. I didn't realise that this woman has been done for this. What she get for it? And how did they get her; just using video evidence? sheesh/cool
  12. :cuckoo: You'll f*ck the syinc plate if you do that. tut tut Often leads to gears popping out or not engaging properly . YES - but I dont think I'd let Hitch-hicker-bob in the car in the first place, lol. But dream on about Kelly Brooke.
  13. just reverse up everything , thats what i do  Doesn't work. My standard set up now, allows me to exit the works car park forward okay, but in reverse it does scrape a tad; yet in theory it should make no difference. With the 40 drop it was impossible to get in.
  14. Simple - the people who cannot drive shouldn't. Agreed. People who are tallented enough to drive one hand is all well and good, but tell that person to drive one handed and talk, they now have another thing to think about. That person would have to find the given speed limit too easy and thus the addition of a task would take up thier remaining attnetion. However, if that person, in the 30mph only used 70% concentration and answered a phone which took 50% concentration, suddenly is dangerous. We cannot give differently abled people different rules. Hence what we have
  15. Wish I had heard that on the Radio. Kev, average joe hates me on the road. For some reason Britts think that the driving test is a one day show and once passed you can do what you like. Im sorry to say that Im a rare breed who insists on driving as close to 30 within the 30 zones, which are 99% built up. Once on the open roads, I want to acheive the limit of 60 and whatever else. This in its self is a full concentration job. Whilst its easy to drive round xyz bends at 60, its the hazards that should be keeping you on your toes. Rarely do I get a clear run on a national speed limit road; too often I will catch a car doing 50 or less. So yes, I do over take, and as you say, you're hooted at and flashed by the ignorant twits who dont know how to drive; simply because you just woke them up as you blasted past, just when they thought they owned the road. Not knowing the speed limit is just another issue. The road past the Belfree is a 60, yet the yellow speed camera forces average joe from 50 down to 40, with a flurry of brake lights. All sorts come out of my mouth as Im hoping we're going to reach 60 some time today. The curtious thing is odd. Here in Warwickshire I took it as being down to the fact the people are rude. No-one speaks in the street when on foot etc, so allowing a car through and giving a wave is much the same - too much to ask. Worse still is the 4x4 who thinks they have the right of way, even when the parked vehicle is on thier side of the road --- wtf? Being able to drive is not our given right. It is somthing we earn, and not just by buying a car. The test is there for a reason. These 1t peices of metal can kill; most seem to forget that.
  16. To change gear maybe. Dr.Mat - I wouldn't say GMTV were the most itelligent. The demonstration with the presenter in a simulator was a joke (too long to explain). But its nice to see this kind of behavior under a bad light. Think how hard you concentrate when driving hard down the twisties; the same concentration is needed in a built up area, the number of hazards is immense.
  17. Having a late start to my day I saw GMTV's topic on people who drive and multi-task. The shock horror video clip they showed, was a woman applying her make up with two hands and thus had no control over the car, whilst driving in a built up area. Shocking stuff, but whats worse is I bet we've all seen it before and not just once. My 20 mile trip into Birmingham has me cringing at the sight of some of the antics. Dont know if any of you have seen the same, but I've noticed the style of driving has gotten worse - more aggressive. Once I'd have a 9/10 certainty that a woman wouldn't pull out on me, whereas now, its the opposite. While blokes have typically been the ones to drive like he's Mansel, I'd say women are as bad now. This week I can recall seeing: woman no hands while eating cake for breakfast (no wonder she was chubby - lol), several blokes one handed on mobiles, woman putting her hair up with 2 hands whilst approaching a crossing by a school. The worst one was a woman on an empty M6, strayed from the middle lane into my outside lane - yep, she was on a phone. Rant finished. But Im sure some of you will have similar thoughts/worries. ps - was glad to see plod stopping a white van, whose rear doors had just popped open yesterday
  18. Well, Mk-somthing-old , its defo a standard 16v, possibly a Si. He chucks it about like a go-kart, its brilliant fun on tight twisties on the slow stuff; burns out of corners very well upto say 60 (9.2), then yes I imagine the 16v-C would "hump" it beyond that LOL Ford Fiesta 16v pic CLICK - now you know what I meant. So yeh, by all means you can put stuff like that in thier place after 60, but then you've got all these modern cars to contend with - poor little 16ver. Cant wait for summer, windows and roof open, going for a brisk drive; scare the outlaws and mates gf. Then dodge all family events for a blast on the bike - come on summer.
  19. "feeling fast" is an odd thing. The 2.0 C feels nippy and the 16v grunt certainly helps at top end but Im sure its down to the bumpy and noisy ride. The local fave' road of mine is a hoot, but the gf's 100bhp Megan, although wallowy, will comfortably get up to very similar speeds. Its no good reving her 1.5 deisel any further as it does nothing whereas the C needs to be driven harder to get to the same speed. The Megan feels as if its coasting through the bends. My mates 1.6 16v mk2 fiesta (sri) is supposed to be 0.5 second quicker to 60; yet Id say the C "feels" quicker and Id be happier to overtake in that. Then differently again, as some can confirm, the old bike is just silly; you can fall asleep and see 3 figures. Noise, effort, its all subjective. Just enjoy your cool look in the C 8)
  20. Sunday late afternoon, A45 coventry. Dark C with similar large alloys to Gixxer; tad dirty, lol.
  21. Hello: girlie 8) Looks like he's hand touched the hood too pic link.
  22. 2_door_fun - do you have time to turn that into a Knowledge Base topic? Its a fairly simple job to do, which many people may need on a 100,000+ miles car. Cheapo parts - whats a couple of quid. You'd think rubber is rubber, but Ive found that copy parts often lack the correct recesses etc for clips and so forth

    Clunk

Why are you using a SOLID mount? What are on the side mounts? From your answer, saying it happens when off the clutch, then the engine mount sounds plausible. However, as suggested above, odd movement to the engine may mean a cracked exhaust downpipe. I presume it only happens on firm accelleration for a short period of time and does not continue for a mile or so. If its a short thing, try to think if its immediate, ie when the engine rocks backwards, or is it as you go to change gear, this engine rocks forward (in which case Id suspect bolts on the RPT to be loose/sheered). If its this, you should be able to consistently make it happen on your driveway. Even an exhaust that, for some reason, pivots in the middle can be know to hit the underside of your car; but then I wouldn't expect you to feel it through the pedals.
  24. lol Dear Mr Gallery Inspector Yeh, but I was trying to just use the 'uploadnet' site for pics and not overload this site. I think the above option works in a rough way.
  25. Sat 25th, in Warwick to Kenilworth. a VR6 with M8** plate, light purple, standard wheels. Going past Saxon mill upto Leek Wooton; eased past him and gave a smile & nod; but he was fully focused on the road. He followed me all the way into a blocked-off road; so he either lives there or followed me to a point. Nice to know there is one local. :) Saw his car again a few hours later behind Blockbusters at top of Kenil'.
