  1. Jim - be careful there on A45, there are cameras all down there; odd considering the straight road and lack of traffic. I know there is a relatively new overpass of a minor B road going over A45, where you suggest, that comes from a small place Meriden (near to Berkswell). Sneaky Civic-R...... you know colour ???
  2. A45... where abouts? Most of A45 has slowed right down now anyhow, cameras everywhere. The sneakiest being Cov - Rugby. The A46 into M69 is renown for unmarked cars & T5's. Those BMW drivers will never learn. My first trip in the rado [recently] onto the M69 had me followed by one of these unmarked cars, at night, at the terrible speed nearing 75 - gosh! This car hurtled up on me at say 85-90mph, it swung in behind me into the inside lane, suspicious. After a couple cars went by at 90-ish, it soon pulled out behind the speeding T5 which flew by.
  3. The lower spec Evo looks like the dogs-b****s. Super quick for the money - keeps seeing off supercars, be it on TG or in magazines. Not sure about that Golf GTi, from the outside looks naff; better than befores bulk, but still naff. Cant argue with that bhp though. Its winning praise everywhere, incl the commercially orientated 5th gear.
  4. Cheers! Err, fraid not. They are 215s and *still* don't cover the rim....as I found to my cost this morning  Oooh dear :( My tyres are the same, and thought that tiny rib of rubber couldnt stop kerbing to rim; hope i dont find out. However that rib certainly doesnt protect the spokes if the spokes stick out further than the rim, as the previous owner must've found out on mine. :|
  5. Do these covers have a soft lining? As im only guessing, but i had the notion that one of the cheapo Halford covers would simply wear a 'Rub' mark onto the car bodywork. Right / wrong?
  6. Guessed this maybe the case, but those bolts have got to be perfectly torqued up, with locking nut fluid. ~ drools @ Kev's wheels. See you've got those tyres which protect the rim. £££
  7. Spoiler Speed - all you need to know: http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13836 I thought you were going to discuss the accuracy of your speedo. Just checked mine, out by 1mph all the way on 17"
  8. Is this wise? Suppose you'll say so, but its either BBS or VW that advise never to take split rims apart. Never mind - yours, old gran. However the RM, RZ issue seems a little clearer - if this guys right. .de - postage from Germany is expensive, no? Cant sprekenzi deusche any way.
  9. Erm.... Simple ! .... oh well, we'll see. Big fella above seems to have the answer. I've got some non-standard BBS now off ebay. Not a clue what they are, 6-spoke, at the right price.
  10. Missed the first 4mins, thus only caught glimps of Golf - not liked. Porche - funny, although the mods could have been much better, it was just a laugh. My eyes poped out to see Jeremy's 928, then laughed 2 miles later. Best Top Gear in ages !! :D
  11. Bored? Sitting Comfortably? Right, now I may begin. We all know you need to shop around for insurance, the lowest changing each year. The following story of mine makes sense once you’ve read it but you may not have thought of it. Having been insured from my early days with Tesco I was soon pursued by other companies who are trying harder to get custom off Tesco & Directline. So when NUD can offer it to me £100 cheaper I take them up. However 12 months later comes renewal time. What’s this, its gone up, yet I have made no claims. Hmmm, time to shop around. Unfortunately only Tesco are cheaper… I know I’ll try NUD again. Ring ring, hello can I have a quote? Acting dumb. Gave my name and no record of me was found so a NEW quote had to be given – the quote wasn’t only cheaper than this years quote but another £100 less than last year. Now why has this happened? Well because they think you’re too lazy to shop around; only new customers need competitive rates. Half way through my 12 months and I change to the rado, dreading the increase but to my surprise the quote was cheap, and when I actually phoned it was cheaper still. THEN for corker story 2 - I added an older member of my family as a 2nd named driver… for how much? Try “we will reimburse you £x” WOW !!
  12. oh and thanks Geo... I've got a 16v, but like the bbs seen on a G60. Either way my calipers should fit within
  13. Never mind, will just go on line or to shop and point, frantically - "those"
  14. BBS RZ's as advertised on internet; att maybe they change style of the RZ each year? Maybe the G60's were limited edition?
  15. THANK YOU :) .... either RA or RZ's. Will go hunting.
  16. Does anyone know which BBS this is? --- compliments of Jim
  17. Yes, 5mm off the carpet. IS THIS CORRECT? or should there be more travel before bite?
  18. When i was buying the car, the [then] owner turned the dial fully to that position, but made a terrible noise, very stiff. Somewhere on the net it was said that you shouldnt do this as somthing will break, you're to take apart & ?????
  19. Yes, search brought up 16 pages. After reading posts from 3 pages i gave up.
  20. The bite point seems to be immediate. Although does fully dis-engage once depressed. Where should it bite ? Should there be a bit of movement before it bites? On the Golf it was simply a matter of checking for a little play in the clutch.
  21. If the clutch is Hydro', does this mean it cannot be adjusted - the bite point is far too early for my liking. :?: :?:
  22. If you read the manual it says before selecting reverse you MUST leave it in neutral for a few seconds [say 3]. Im assuming to let it slow down and catch up.
  23. On my 2.0 16v [94] the far left heater dial (direction screen/feet) will not rotate anti clockwise to the setting at say 1-o'clock. I've seen it said somewhere that you must not try to force it, and somehow it can be fixed before you really break it. Anyone know? Cheers  [sorry for any repetition - this post must already exist but my search provided nothing] [my questions are vague but will become fewer once i buy a manual - xmas prezzie]
  24. Does it tick over at usual revs once warm? Sounds like the somthing Automatic, like buttles says or maybe choke needs overhaul. Somthings worn or clogged up.
  25. Are you sure about that Jonester, it rains, no it downpours. Live local and you can pop on over to see the hills.
