Guys, just use the VW stuff - it's fantastic! Duck tape will dry out in a couple of years, I used elephant tape 5 years ago and it's only just started to fall off, silicon stinks and you can't re-use where the VW stuff sticks but you can peel back the membrane and re-fit several times if needed.

Nice bit of off road parking there mate!

Bently owners please help G60 torque settings
Supercharged replied to Richie_t's topic in Engine Bay
Same as any other 4 cyl VW - should also say in the sheet with the headset if it's an elring one. 40Nm, 60Nm then 180 (2x 90) degrees in order -
7mm keys like that are available in Halfords seperatly - it's a 'brake' allen key
-
Yeah, I'd get the charger checked asap... I've heard of excess oil pressure blowing charger seals like this but your's might just be a dry seal as you said earlier...
-
Yeah it does but it's no where near as thick...
-
Maybe just the camber is badly out on that side but if it's very noticeable then could be a bent wishbone or track rod
-
For the moonroof you need a passat / MK3 seal as it fits to the glass roof itself.
-
Yep, the X relief relay does this...
-
What grade oil are you using..??
-
As I said, Lambda probe socket is what you need - 22mm and easily available.
-
No, the ball joint just drops out of the hub (held in by a pinch bolt) As above buy all new bolts from VAG inc ones for the BJ - you won't be able to find the exact right spec ones elsewhere... You'll need the camber setup afterwards too.
-
It's made by Mantra I think and You can buy it from VW but it's not really needed - try a Lambda probe socket with an allen key or just get a garage to buzz it off with an airgun. Note the nut size on some new shocks is 21mm - for this you can just use a standard 14mm sparkplug socket with a spanner and allen key.

Ok, just taken a look. My part number is 43R-001366. Supplied by autoglass by the look of things. I have a gap around 1.5 - 2 mm. To me that = damp!! these are the numbers of mine - 43R-001090 this is basically everything which is on it! VW ROCKWELL INTERNATIONAL ROCKWELL GLOBE GMBH SEKURT SAINT-GOBAIN E1 43R-001090 DOT27M24610AS3 B TINTED 4 there are no gaps on mine, it fits like a glove! Simon, cheers for that - was just about to post exactly the same info.... Yeah mine is the same glass part as above and fits like factory, I think they do look slighty different to the original as they use the MK3 seal as opposed to the MK2 / Corrado one.

VW strangely enough!

They should always fit new ones - VW keep them on the shelf usually.

mysterious Stud between exhaust and fuel filter
Supercharged replied to delfinis38's topic in Exterior
Might be something to do with the 16V fuel filter / pump / accumulator assemble - ie not fitted to your car. -
These were schitty old FAG bearings from GSF Kev, new VAG ones are still fine... ... yeah basically, mine was fine as far as an 'MOT' check went - no detectable play until I undid the hub nut and the hub itself just wobbled about, both sides were shot to bits! If you are going to do yours again I would get 2 spare hub carriers, have them blasted like I did above, get new brearings pressed in then paint and you could also fit the tie rod flip kit while you're at it.
-
Loose dipstick guide tube can also cause this...
-
Low level in the tank? Also check the metal clip is on the plug or it could slide off again - also might have been sloppy engine mounts causing it to come off
-
357412331A - Mount 1J0412249 - Bearing Should be around £40 the pair from VW after discount.
-
That't the pins for the 280mm setup and the rear carriers, the 288 / 312mm ATE setup is different.
-
I think it's just a difference between plus and base suspension
-
Yep - those ball headed allen keys (Halfords do a good set) help
