  1. Chain is the same... So you fit the belt to the crank and then pull tightly round the cam pulley along it's longest run, then with these in place try and get the tensioner on and tighten. Even if it looks slightly off, roll the engine round a couple of times by hand to take out any slack and you might find it lines up. then re-check belt tension Extra pair of hands always helps keeping things aligned.
  2. Fuse 14 is the Mirror movement and 9 is for the heating... Not sure it will be a fuse though as it sounds like they are trying to move - not frozen are they?
  3. 16V's are usually fairly easy as you are only aligning the top and bottom pulleys (intermediate only drives the oil pump so clock position doesn't matter) It may take one or two goes to get the right technique to get the belt tight and on the right cam sprocket tooth, you need the proper tensioner tool too, makes it so much easier. If you are struggling to get a cam tooth on the mark then you might have an issue with head tolerance - has it been skimmed? Also check the chain is tight and replace if stretched.
  4. Might be just a relay or fuse loose after the pothole... I would check and re-seat these Car will usually run for 2 secs then die if it's an imob issue
  5. No - the issues is that A2/3 chassis cars use a taper bearing setup at the rear where the bearing is pressed into the disk... For a 'full' MK4 style brake setup on a 4 stud you need a whole load of parts from a Lupo. I would just stick with the MK4 calipers and the original type disks and pads - works well and all you need is the goodridge conversion hoses to fit.
  6. 256mm standard with the 16V and 2.0 8V
  7. I thought it was 80 degrees C Yan?? Alternator - have a look at the blue lead - if this is not connected then it will not charge the battery... Is that Air Con rad now spare?
  8. Yeah - just read the same thing John, cheers for that... I was wondering if the Expert was actually the Rainsport3 but that is on it's way apparently... Will order the Rainsport 2's...
  9. Just looking at tyres as I need a pair shortly and notice there is now a 'RainExpert' Not sure if this is a replacement for the Rainsport2 as it's the same price at £ 31.79 http://www.bestbuytyres.co.uk/tyres/Any/195/50/15/Any/D Anyone have experience of these?
  10. Sounds like the 5th injector is stuck open then maybe or some electrical issue if it stalls immediatly... The 5th is controlled by the ECU on the 9a, not via thermotime like the KR
  11. Goodridge say 14Nm I think for the banjo bolt (I would check this) but they use copper washers where VW use steel.
  12. Did you hand over your credit card then Wendy or are you still looking at Porkers?
  13. Yep - although you don't have to, I'd say bumper / slam panel and rad off and out the way to give better access.
  14. Yep, unfortunately the charger bracket bolts directly on top of the water pump... I did my pump down at G-werks while the charger was being serviced
  15. New lock is fairly cheap from Vw - £14 last time I got one and is a Polo mk3 part.
  16. I'm running 02M on the TDI remember! Dutch dubs came up with a conversion mount a few years ago now, requires you to relocate the bracket on the subframe though - http://www.dutchdub.com/Webnew/O2M/trans_mount_cup.jpg Another interesting thing I found out today was MK5 Polo shifter boxes - they are similar to the MK4 Golf ones except they fit a MK2 / Corrado / Rallye without any grinding / modification to the tunnel / floor!
  17. LOL, I bet Nick was well pleased! Have you really done 10k miles since that day? Seems like no time at all - Summers day - looking in my rear view mirror thinking how good it was that Neil has finally found a decent Corrado after all these years.... and just at that point I spotted the steam pouring out between the bonnet and wings
  18. You do - it's the standard VW one that fits MK2 onwards. Halfords sell it
  19. Err, yes - always disconnect the battery - especially on the starter circuit as you are not protected by any fuses!
  20. Yeah - Very early VR6 that - not often you see the velour interior, early switch gear and those BBS wheels...
  21. You get a new grommet with the cable. Withough trying to sound unhelpful - The only place to buy one is VW so really best to let them look it up for you and get the correct one for you're chassis number as there is a change IIRC. Just give the parts person your Registration
  22. Supercharged

    Clutch

Strange one - there is no adjustment being hydraulic so this would usually indicate a worn clutch... I would check the part you fitted was correct and maybe re-bleed though.
  23. It's exactly the same as the Corrado rear kits as they are the same piston size (38mm I think) Can't imagine why he couldn't find them - easy enough!
