To be honest if they are that bad I would bin them - I had some 'top of the range' FK Koenigsports on mine - they did 50k miles in 4 years and were absolutely knackered when I took them off - scrap! Never buying anything made by FK again!

Yeah too fine -especially with VW top mount design... One way is to use a magnetic camber gauge on the disc or hub to take a reading and leave an axle stand under the wishbone but you'll never get it perfect... Best thing to do is to replace everything in one hit and pay £100 for Biessbarth allignment - The Corrado really is an amazing car to drive with new suspension bushes and then set up properly!
-
Yeah FEBI stuff is ok (better than the Vibring stuff that coes out of china anyway) but not OEM... It won't last as long either but then that is reflected in the price, I wouldn't touch any bearings or bushes though inc top mounts - just to much work to keep changing them every year or two!

Non air con I assume? Just remove the lower passenger shelf - 4 screws I think The you will see the motor, unplug the 5 pin connector to the resister pack The motor kind of clips into a bayonet fitting so take note of orrientation There is a plastic locking tab on the right as you look at it, use a torch to see. Screwdriver maybe to release it as you turn the unit. Then resistor pack just unclips at the bottom with the 2 wires.

Yep, this is what Stealth used to do years ago - they seem to go for lads now when they come up for sale!
-
It's hit and miss - I suspect those would have come down to about £27 though! You wanna get one of these mate too if you're feeling flush - perfect for the Corrado and so much better than that alloy piece of crap I bought from Machine Mart - ttp://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/store ... =ClickInfo

Jim's Corrado - ciao to the Fiat! Hello to.. (P64)

Yeah - no fitment issues with the right bracket - notice it's 90 degrees from the normal VW ones to allow for the heat expansion of stainless steel. I would buy the VW hangers you need too to keep it OE - recently bought new ones for mine and they weren't much. The main thing about Magnex apart from the look and fit is that they last - most other stainless steel exhausts start to rust after 7-8 years -
Nice one dude - should have been even cheaper with the trade card though! Everyone should have a set of the flex-head ones - so useful!

Hello - it's a 6PK1640 or 1638 you need as long as you don't have aircon.
-
Yeah, both mine are around 50mm and have an equal gap between the wheels and arches (so looks spot on IMO) but the wishbones point very slightly upwards. The Corrado suspension was kind of lowered as standard so a 35mm drop on H&R's will leave the wishbones parallel - 35mm is a significant change so I'd say it's worth doing.
-
The plastic flanges warp with age so the O ring is not enough - really best to replace the lot - bolts, sensors, clips etc No sealant needed unless the face of the cylinder head is badly corroded.
-
Was thinking it must be clearance of some sort but not sure... or maybe to make them stronger in the event of a bump?
-
Replace - get it from VW only - they are around £20 including the 2 bolts and the pinch bolt and nut you need. Pattern ones don't last at all - been there, done that!
-
Perfectly explained - thanks for that, I understand it now... 8)

Sorry - just read this again and I think I get it... I assume the biggest bump steer cause is the track rod angle though as these connect directly to the rack? Do we also need to swap TRE's from Right to Left or am I talking bollocks? :)
-
Hey - well I've been looking but can't find anyone cheap or UK based... Still trying to get my head round what the LBJ extenders will do, I know it makes sense to do them with the track rods to get the geometry back to where it's meant to be but what difference will it make on the road having the wishbones pointing down rather than parallel? Any thoughts about drilling the hub carriers? - might try my local engineering place next week...
-
Right, the other night I ordered 2 pairs of these - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0436722922 They arrived today and I can confirm they are the right size and look like they will fit perfectly. I mailed the guy to say they were for a Corrado as he does 2 different sizes and he knew which ones to send - he also said he is the supplier to VW Heritage etc! Going to look at getting my spare hubs drilled next month - will probably buy a pair of wheel bearing kits as you get all the bolts / nuts etc needed so makes sense.

I can't identify this, does anyone know what it is?
Supercharged replied to Timbo's topic in Interior
That's a clip of the side of a switch - probably headlight -
What do they actually do mate? The seat handle holds the belt fine doesn't it? - unless you have recaro's
-
You need to check for 12V down the red/back wire to the starter solenoid when the ignition switch is turned to crank. 12v = knackered starter solenoid 0v = ignition switch (or immobiliser issue)
-
Yep, hub carrier off and take to a garage with a press... you'll need to get the allignment done afterwards. Worth getting them blasted and painted too if you can - See my pics in this thread - the grease you get in the kit is for the CV splines, not the bearing as it's sealed. viewtopic.php?f=23&t=83206&p=962937
-
And if it's an early one with a 55ltr tank then the straps are the same as a MK3 Golf - £12 each new from VW
-
What does it actually do neil - looks awful! The seat catches hold the belt perfectly when not in use - a really neat design feature of the Corrado I've always liked
-
Yep - best ones to get are the stainless ones with a rubber O ring that Halfords sell... I've not put any air in my tyres for over 12k miles!
-
Both my cars are running recon racks for Eurocarparts and have been for years... seem to be fine but not sure if quality is still the same... They used to be £125 + vat exchange
