It's just maintenance to be honest guys... rubber perishes with age and heat, plastic gets brittle and warps and some of these pipes might be original and that is worrying on a car that is over 15 years old... When mine got to 10 years old (80k miles) I went down the samco route and replaced all the hoses and all the plastic flanges plus the water pump and stat as one was leaking and they always seem to go at about 80k on VW's. I was never happy with the fit of the Samco's and the fact you can't use the original clips etc so I've now recently gone back to original hoses (all brand new), new OE clips plus new flanges again and it's also had a new rad and heater matrix plus the metal water pipes so should be good for years to come! You really need to hit a whole area now on these cars and get the parts while you still can, especially with a system under pressure like this as the weakest point will always be the first to fail.

Ok, if you want to test it then these are the readings you should get across the 2 pins at the plug for the sender, the other 2 wires are the live and earth to the pump (thicker gauge) Full 35 Ohms Half 90 Empty 285 Worth checking these and then maybe cleaning the tracks of the little pcb that the gauge gets its signal from.

You replaced the pump - new VDO pumps use a different sender to the Pierburg original - did you change this too or manage to get an old style pump? Are the clocks VDO or Motometre?

That bolts the wrong way round!

Jim's Corrado - ciao to the Fiat! Hello to.. (P64)
Supercharged replied to Jim's topic in Members Gallery
Dude... you need to get the clips and remove those cable ties -
Stealth are just round the corner from you and they deal with Corrado's all the time!

Probably not the best forum to ask this on tbh being UK based but I reckon a UK light switch might fix this!

You can find the exact build date of your car from the chassis using ELSAWIN but did you know VW will send you a birth certificate? http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=398

Following on from the work on Jims car the other week I thought it might be useful to post the injector part numbers up... The ones we used were from VW at £45 + vat each and they come with the O rings / seals fitted. 035 133 551 F The Bosch number for these is 0 437 502 044 The originals were 0 437 502 043

No pattern parts available for the Corrado - never enough demand plus the quality is always rubbish compared to VW originals... Sills used to be £20 from the dealer but now more like £40
-
They'll fit but you're best off upgrading to something newer are more reliable
-
Hmmm - they appear to be correct for the later / coilpack cars... Maybe boxed wrong?
-
sticky starter motor soleniod perhaps - usually happens in hot weather... Next time it won't start hit it with something like a breaker bar to release it
-
That's rubbish - there are 2 sets depending on chassis...

Standard cam is pretty good tbh... If it's anywhere around 100k miles I would be thinking about doing the conrod bearings and the head gasket (before they need doing) Maybe get the head off to the man in the shed for some porting.

Rear sensors connect underneath back seats - worth checking continuity as I have seen a few bodged after the looms have been broken buy exhaust fitters or garages when changing axle bushes / suspension etc.

Welcome to the world of 2 Corrado ownership! That looks in bloody good condition actually - all looks fairly factory which is exactly what i'd want if I was buying another!

Just thought I'd post this screen shot up of how to avoid Paypal fees when sending money to others. If you click on the personal tab then you get the option of 'Personal payment owed' which is quite handy if you just owe some cash to someone. It can also be used for buying stuff off here etc but you will need to PM your address as they recipient won't get it via Paypal NOTE - I would advise people to do this only with people they trust and have maybe bought items from before and obviously look at post counts / reputation etc as obviously Paypal will not uphold any claims etc.

I now have a ball-point pen embedded in my arm and blood all over my laptop after seeing that....

Don't use a key mate, you need a socket really or you will round them.... The bolt is an M10 so I'm fairly sure you need an 8mm allen socket. Make sure you get new bolts to replace. if you still have probs just use Irwin bolt grippers on them. The dust cover required a special tool but you can use water pump pliers or tap a thin screw driver with a hammer the twist it, you may need to spin the disc and do this a few times to release it. If you remove the split pin you must use a new one too!

Goodridge Stainless Brake lines for 1990 1.8 16V
Supercharged replied to Corrado Maxximus's topic in Drivetrain
The front brake line locations were different... have a look at the pics on the VW spares site for details... Rears are the same on all cars or all years and the mids too apart from the VR6 ones. -
Pete Griff's 'Rado R32 - (Not quite!) Alive at last! :D
Supercharged replied to pete_griff's topic in Members Gallery
Yep, come on Pete - get a grip and let Toadie help you sort the niggles out... it sounds like the car is 98% there and should be reliable for years to come after the initial snagging is done. -
Yeah clean the glass - never understood why you'd want to add a spoiler to a car that came with one from the factory...
