  1. Are you guys using a genuine cap and arm as there is a huge difference in the quality? Otherwise maybe a faulty coil??
  2. Jim - get some pics up! SuperchargedJunkie - nice to see the inside of another G60 engine that colour - seen a few now, all G60's - no idea why they go like that as normal 8v's always look brand new... must be either the forced induction or high oil temps that make them go that colour I think!
  3. You can try it without actually fitting it... good thing to change anyway.
  4. Have a look at this thread for the 'WD40 fix' viewtopic.php?f=1&t=38969 Worth putting what year car you have when posting problems etc...
  5. Had the same thing happen on both wishbone bolts on my TDI, I think it's because they were re-used and over-tightened as my original G60 ones just undid easily with the same force as a wheel bolt. If you have the cross member off it should be easier - we used a cutting disk on mine, bent the metal out of the way to get to the bolt then used heat to undo and welded back up again. It's a bit of a bodge but works fine and won't really matter if you're getting powder-coated - the other option is a new subframe, £220 ish from VW
  6. Haha - I think I will let him off this time... ...I actually posted that first reply to him from the garage and happened to have the bonnet open and the bolt grippers handy
  7. Pic would be good - has it actually pulled the sleeves out of the radiator??
  8. The slave was more likely to fail but most of these have been done now and the Masters are starting to go... The slave is still the cheaper part so I would look at this first, especially if it's an older black painted item - new ones are alloy Any signs of fluid on top of the the gearbox?
  9. Bust to buy a metal version but a plastic one would have some with the car - you might find it either clipped to the bonnet stay or the jack handle... If you're having problems warm starting then the first thing to check is that the rad fan and fuel pump are running on after the engine s shut off.
  10. If you want MPG get an 8V - all the others are roughly the same....
  11. Toadie staying the night on Sunday is he :norty:
  12. To be honest I'd just scrap it - too much hassle to get that out....
  13. LOL at this thread.... ... Yeah I'd take the engine out too for easier access
  14. Ever had any spoiler or rear wiper issues? It maybe some wiring behind that cover on the tailgate is not where it should be and now shorting out.
  15. It won't be the HG - they hardly ever fail on VR6's. I'm sure this is a cooling system issue - check both water pumps are working too
  16. The compensator is attached to the beam so you need to undo these
  17. No, will be fine and worth changing every 5 or so years anyway, just make sire you get a litre of fluid from VW to fill it back up again.
  18. Mike - have you checked the ECU for water damage? I would do this, especially if the car has ever had a windscreen changed or matrix failure.
  19. They are expensive for sure but that's all I'd say it's either them or just standard VAG discs and pads as they last absolutly ages!
  20. What car and engine do you have? Have you got the newer Blue cap? Sure it's not the thermostat stuck shut - sounds like it if it overheats in 15 mins. Check the radiator is getting hot - especially the bottom hose and also that the fan is working.
