  1. Swap switches round to test?
  2. VW hangers are pretty expensive (over £2 each) and no better than pattern ones. Mate i'm sorry but like most things there is a huge difference in the genuine ones Vs the pattern ones, they last ages for a start, the ones on my mums MK3 Golf are still original and showing hardly any signs of wear, I've bought pattern ones and ones from exhaust places before and they have only lasted 2-3 years... I did my G60 ones a few years ago with VW ones and they are still like new. This pic shows the VAG heavy duty ones next to a standard one, same profile but half the width, seems much stronger tho so less movement and hopefully will take the heat better than a powerflex one would... Obviously badly fitting and heavy aftermarket systems won't help but these seem to be worth a try...
  3. The 3 bottom bits should come with a new screen!
  4. http://www.bestbuytyres.co.uk/Home.aspx 0845 402 4024 Used these guys a few times now as they were very cheap for Rainsports... as I need 4 new tyres soon I thought i'd try something new so just bought some Pirelli P Zero Nero's in 195/45/16 at £52 each, much cheaper than elsewhere! Delivery is £10 however many tyres ordered and the service is great, I called to check stock and they then go off and check and then call you back to take the order and the tyres take a day or two to arrive, they also do a 'fitted' price where you go to a local franchise. I also got a free Pirelli trolley bag with the 4 tyres (offer on till end of this month) which came direct from Pirelli - much better quality and larger than I expected and should come in useful for the germany trip!
  5. http://www.flameskill.co.uk/FLexiTec-Auto-Systems.php Looks interesting and local company to me... anmyone fitted one??
  6. It's difficult to pre-fill the oil filter on a G60 without spilling any, even with the headlight out. I usually start and stop the engine straight away to prevent an airlock in the filter, the other thing you can do is crank it on the starter with the ecu relay or fuel rail unplugged to build up pressure mechanically.
  7. Well after spending most of the week rebuilding / re-bushing my suspension I took it down to Elite in Rainham near Dagenham who are a wheel allignment specialist and wheel / tyre shop I'd called first but they don't do bookings as such, anyway arrived and spoke to somone who took my details and keys, 5 mins later it was on the ramps and you get a report of what needs doing and costings... They charge £30 for basic allignment, toe and tracking and then £15 per side for camber angle adjustment and I needed the lot (as expected) that came to just over £70 with the VAT and took just under an hour. I was able to watch it being done and discuss the work with the guys doing it which is always nice, especially if you like to do what you can yourself. They can also do a rear axle shift to adjust the thrust angle if required but this is an additional £35 and after the problems I had with the wishbone bolts I didn't want to disturb the rear beam mountings... mine is slightly out but as discussed with the guys there, I have completely even tyre wear at the back and the current Uniroyal Rainsport 1's have been on there for over 25k miles, worn perfectly evenly and still have 3mm of tread left! Anyways, they got the camber spot on (-0.40 degrees) and the car drives perfectly, tracks straight and corners confidently with no under or oversteer! I'd deffo use them again, good fast and easy service with nice air conditioned show room and waiting area with cafe 8) http://www.elitedirect.com/
  8. As said numerous times the Bentley book is less than £50 delivered from Amazon.ca (no import duty / vat on books remember) and even cheaper if you can find a voucher code - it really is a must have for all Corrado owners! Russek manual tho is ideal for the VR engine - £6.49 from WH Smith (free delivery to your local)
  9. I've not seen or heard of anyone doing this as an upgrade i'm afraid - I guess the advantage is the tandem master cyls? A few of us have been looking at the 4 pot dynalite or powerlite calipers tho to use with stock 280mm discs as a cheap upgrade... What sort of price are the calipers across the pond?
  10. Mine were about £3 from Stealth mate and they are a fiver in Halfords and I have to say they sorted my TDI exhaust molunting issues and 40k miles later they are still in perfect condition... I wouldn't use them on a G60 however and they get too hot, even powerflex don't recommend... The chain ones C&R sell are just Ford oem parts - VW also do some uprated ones which are orange in colour, dealers keep these in stock but only the ones with Van centres as this is what they are for...
  11. You first need to check for 12V down the large red and black cable to the starter solenoid, if it's there then the soleniod is sticking in the heat, if not the ignition switch or imob problem... (the above assumes a good battery and also good clean connections to the starter and alt)
  12. Be very careful with these mate - i'm talking safety... I took my 3 year old set which had done about 50k miles to the scrappy this morning and they gave me a fiver for all 4, lol both front spring plates were falling appart into a powery dust and 2 of the shocks were not working at all, the rest of them were rusted to f£ck!! My car is now sitting on standard dampers and H&R springs and the ride quality and handling are better than they ever have been 8)
  13. 1H0201511A - less than £10 from VW, get new clips too Easy to change as they are located in a plastic carrier under the car
  14. There is only one part number for your year of car (93-95) - 358721388 £67+ vat from VW and 3 in the country when I checked last month for someone else.
  15. Seven tho!! - I had trouble staying on a push bike at that age...

    Top mounts

It's really difficult to get even 40Nm down onto this nut as the shaft turns... I just made sure the springs were compressed enough and the shock was fully extended and that the bush/nut held the top mount and bearing firmly against the lip on the strut but still allowed the rubber mount to rotate with very little lateral movement / play.
  18. Yeah it's a joke but we all know road tax doesn't go back into roads...
  19. I think you will find the TDI is the most economic Corrado  (even with the raise in derv prices) Mine is now running a 150BHP map and returning 60 MPG (slightly more than before) Yours is running well tho Yan, you know a VR or G60 is running spot-on if it's returning over 35mpg!
  20. The bit thats broken - I *think* that is available as a seperate part on the MK4...

    Top mounts

Mic, I would stick with the later 2 piece mounts as thats what all VR's got and they are more 'comfortable' that the old style... The spring plate just matches the size of the pig tail on the spring, it should be fairly clear if they are wrong... what you must watch is that the plates you use have a flat top for the bearing surface of the later top mounts, this is opposed to the round top as shown in the pic above (these are to be used with the early mounts only) That clonking sound - either the spring is not located in it's stops properly at the top, this can happen when the top nut is tightend, especially with an impact wrench as it will spin it round slightly or it has simply just been overtightend crushing the bearing...
  22. 54 mate - should be stamped on the caliper...
  23. Are they models or have you got a really big driveway?
