  1. Welcome to the forum! Does the engine run ok when it does work? Does it start up again straight away after cutting out? No fault codes at all? Have you changed the ignition switch?
  2. Yep check the fluid, if it's not transparent green in colour then change it - £4 from VW
  3. Not easily... the VR and G60 rads have the top hose elbow at the gearbox side of the engine unlike the 16V's
  4. Veearrhsix, brake feel is most likely to do with old fluid, especially is they are 'spongey' The other thing that can affect 'feel' that often gets overlooked is the rear brakes - make sure everything is working well, discs are clean and not corroded and handbrake mech ok. Also check for excessive bearing play!
  5. Did you clear them and re-scan after a drive...? How old is the battery?

    pinking

Sounds like it... weather has got hotter since you set it up too most likely... Make sure you have a good tank of fuel and take a 13mm ratchet spanner out then keep testing and adjusting the timing until it stops pinking.
  7. Pipe looks like it's in roughly the right place - you maybe missing the heatsheild it goes into...
  8. You really need to pressure bleed using something like eezibleed... VW have neve recommended doing it manually as you can damage the MC seals and get air into the ABS system... If it's driveable it may be worth getting down the VW and let them do it on the proper kit...
  9. No - the MC is the thing that the brake fluid res sits on - nipple right at the front...
  10. Nope thats correct - 4 cyl are 30mm hexagon...
  11. Go to Stanford Hall? - camping available too I think!
  12. Idle screw dude!! You will need to get a new one from VAG - about 50p
  13. Early Corrado's use the same as late MK2 then they changes to MK3 in 1993 sometime... They all fit tho but MK4 is the way to go!
  14. They perform the same function but one is the later version of the other - you just need to get the correct part
  15. Some cars had a reverse thread on the drivers side - make sure you use the correct screwdriver too - socket driver bit is best if it's tight...
  16. BBM? Is it increased capacity?? if not them the standard copper one will be fine and maybe use ARP studs if running high boost pressure...
  17. So it's turning over ok and sounds like battery / starter are fine?? Checked fuses? You need to check ignition switch, both relays, fuel pump, BTS and cam timing... If you think your not getting spark then look at hall sender (on dizzy), coil and king lead Sorry if thats a bit vague but hopefully gives you a few things to look at /try... Have you got home start cover at all? - if so the AA are good at diagnosing problems like this and will usually trace the fault for you!
  18. Yeah the pumps in VR's just tend to work then just stop one day which is strange as G60's use the same pump and when they go they can run low pressure and melt pistons... I wouldn't say they are renownwed for going - they just get old and wear but they will not last as long obviously if fuel has been run low / pump overheated / filter not changed reguarly etc plus the way the car is driven...
  19. Check you vac pipes - particuarly the 100cm one to the ECU Battery voltage good and alternator charging ok?? Is the blue temp sensor ok? Lambda probe and engine earths?
  20. Thats why it boils then you plumb  I reckon you might have put the stat in the wrong way round to start with?? - put the stat back in after testing in a pan and fill with 33% G12+ / Distilled water. What colour is the header tank cap?
  21. SHOCK ABSorber ...You Muppets
