  1. No you shouldn't do - did you check the earth is good?
  2. Yeah do in situ - easy on a 4 cyl but you may need to undo shifter cables on a VR?
  3. Yep, sounds very like it but also check the pipe leading to it isn't wet / rotted away (this is happening more now as most Corrado's have have one slave cly already) New ones are alloy (not painted) so you will able to tell if it's original / old - £30-40 for a new one fron GSF / VW and shouldn't take more than an hour to fit / bleed
  4. Right, just reviving this... I appear to have bought some of the same upper spring plates as above, ie the hole is the same size as the damper shaft so is a floating design... I have also noticed they are exactly the same height as the JOM lowering caps for the early suspension (and about 1/3 of the price!) but also are angled slightly as well so may affect allignment?? They also seen to have a flatter edge where the meet the VR6 / plus suspension bearing so thinking they may last longer too... Does anyone know the advantages / disadvantages to using these plates???
  5. Well, I have 3 fairly complete sockets sets + 2 sets of impact sockets on rails and thats 2 sizes I have had to buy seperate sockets becuase i've needed deep ones in 1/2 inch drive... just not very standard sizes but I think thats the reason they do it... The other one is front suspension top nuts - should be 21mm so you can use a sparkplug socktet with a 7mm brake allen key - now some are 22mm with a 6mm allen so you really a very swan-necked spanner to get to them with a large allen key...
  6. Yeah, there is a pretty good fastener place near me that sells A2/A4 grade stainless stuff but for brakes / suspension / mounts etc you need the correct strength of high tensile bolt which altho they do, the proper VW ones are often funny lengths / thread pitches / with flanged heads (built in washers), tappered ends (like on the bumper bolts to help locate / start) and that special green coating so with that in mind, they don't tend to work out much more expensive... That said, I did buy some bolts for the front suspension struts the other day which had 19mm heads as VW now sell ones with 18mm which is annoying, same with engine mounts / starter motor bolts that are now 16's... Just make sure you use 10.9 grade min for brakes / suspension - some stuff should be 12.9...
  7. Yeah you need to get it on VAGCOM - maybe the pedal position sensor?
  8. Always park in gear mate, especially on a slope - someone was killed locally in a similar incident recently!!
  9. Nah thats the right stuff...
  10. Yeah - me too Dave, was going to buy VAG but the price seems to have doubled over the last 2 years on Corrado shocks!! used to less than a ton for 4 inc vat!
  11. Either way it should tell you in the instruction manual!
  12. Nocack - I just picked up 4 Boge Turbo Gas shocks (Hopefully these are the same as Sachs Advantage!) from GSF for £125 all in for mine, rears come with the lower spring plates and plastic caps fitted and the fronts look like they are serviceable (ie come apart and not crimped) so I have asked them to get another pair in that we can get on saturday if we don't have any luck with yours... mind you, if this is the case we would just fit the whole Boge shock...
  13. Yeah - I suppose they are captive nuts but never heard of one breaking... there should be 2 either side - are these the ones??? The smaller M8 (13mm) bolt that holds the crossmember to the car can break when the bumper is removed with the engine not supported correctly but the only other 17mm head one is the other side of this and purely holds the rad support crossmember to the chassis leg.
  14. Have a look on Autoexpress site - reviews are always pretty good!
  15. £240 from VW but I don't think you can get a top tint... Go to an independant glass place - they should be able to sell a proper Sekurit screen for about £120 - maybe a tenner more for the tint... same as VW one without the logo. It's an hours work to fit but they need to keep the car for 3-4 to let the bonding go off.
  16. Hey man - don't know where it is now but Jim made a big mistake selling that, one of my fav G60's with all the right mods! 8)
  17. LOL - wish we could get a Corrado version of that..
  18. 32mm - Halfords do a Viscous Fan coupling spanner of this size.
  19. I think it's safe to say the exhaust place has successfully broken your Lambda... Have a look here for parts info - viewtopic.php?f=15&t=64686&p=768340&hilit=g60+and+lambda#p768340
  20. You just want an excuse to ring someone about your flange...
  21. Tom - £1500 ish, comes with chips for dizzy and CP, all working and checked by Stealth - also original German dealer purchace reciept / instructions.
  22. I know if a proper Pierburg VSR for sale...
  23. Speak to Ian Birch at PipeWerx dude.
  24. Nah - i'd say the AA are giving bad advice, it's still driving on Diesel so no damage done yet but the PD injectors won't like petrol... You need to drain the tank fully, change the filter and refill with diesel before you drive it again.
  25. Yep new cable and also check that the throttle mech moves freely - not hitting any cables etc...
