  1. It's the anti-corrosion properties they improved in G12+, I have a datasheet somewhere... It's cheap as chips from VW / German and Jewish so I'd buy the proper stuff...
  2. I think the 6N ones will fit but the piston size is slightly smaller for some strange reason... I think most people tend to use the 1J0 ones...
  3. Do you want me to bring my old G60 hoses up to see what fits
  4. Yep - VW are one of the worst for this - 2 years is the period I think!
  5. No but you need to pull the splined adapter off with something and also drill out the lock barrel... also a good time to change the ignition switch for the uprated polo 6N one
  6. You need the actual steering lock...
  7. Right, working on my own monster loom with relay box at the moment - does anyone have a 4 relay diagram they can put up for me?? What I would like to do is run wires from each headlamp to a relay box mounted centrally maybe on the back of the rad fan surround then with power and earth running straight back round to the battery to keep things tidy... Is the above possible as most looms I have seen run one lamp to the other but I think this is just to keep the relays close to the battery.... Should I be switching both sides independantly from the existing loom (hard wired most likely) or doesn't it matter...? I'm after long term reliability and fault tolerance. Already up to £50 in bits - will stick some pics up when it's done!
  8. Electronics? - Are you saying my idea of a series of intricate plastic pulleys, old shoelaces, olympic trained gerbils and extra mature cheddar won't work?
  9. There was a thing in Autoexpress about this a few weeks ago - it's not just VW it's most manufacturers with the auto dimming etc, they were on about adding it to the windscreen policy's on your insurance...
  10. ? No, was talking about Gazman's car with the VWM VSR (before the electronics were done at Stealth)
  11. You should feel it tho Kev, even the VSR fitted without the controller and chip made a noticeable difference!! Also got to remember that VW always recomended 98 ron fuel for the VR...
  12. Is it still not right Ben? when you say soft do you mean 'spongy' -if so maybe air in there... still could be bedding in too...
  13. V7's not a bad name for a club / site - give VW a couple of years and they'll bring out a Golf 6 V7 4Motion
  14. Welcome to the forum... V-Power is what you need The dizzy will be at about 7 degrees to run on 98 so it will feel slugish on 95 - if you have real problems getting it then I would get the ignition timing set back to standard (ie either use one or the other)
  15. potatonet, I was only going what Noel Edmunds told me (not sure if you've heard of him but he is very knowledgable about Corrado's over here) and he said that twin pots on a standard MC would give too much travel, he was addement that the 23mm cyl was needed...
  16. A1 VR6, you'd think but not according to ETOS... I think in terms of repair they are physically the same so probably just come in black
  17. Dot 4 is brake fluid (a type of hydraulic oil)
  18. Can't find a photo but ETKA shows it quite clearly... ignore the earths, mine only has one near the relay plate as shown above... Looms comes in two parts and both together are well over £100 and thats without relays... (!!) the thing I like about VW is that repair parts are nice and cheap, relay plate is £4 and those 1 pin plugs are 357 972 761 - 55p each.
  19. Bill - yeah they are female spades but best to get the proper plugs from VAG so they clip in propery... got a pic of the loom somewhere, mine came out of a Storm but Yan was also under the impression that they hardwired in so that may have been the case on the early cars where just the drivers side was headed.
  20. Yeah that pic is taken with the fusebox dropped forward but you should be able to do it with it in place with a torch I reckon... I take it your loom was cut then if you don't have the plugs??
  21. Yeah not expensive but vineger / boiling water does a good job and then stick it in the dishwasher... If it's brown / yellow colour tho just replace it...
