Help needed! Changed coolant on my C, now have fountain?!
Supercharged replied to Jay2's topic in Engine Bay
The caps failed i think - get a new one (should be blue) Try it first but I would refill with G12+ when you get a chance - it's what VW recommend and not expensive... As above fill (slowly - 5mins) via the tank and then stant the engine up with the cap off, run it up to 50 degrees or so then screw the cap down. -
Slide the roof open and you'll see - you need a guitar string or a bike brake or gear cable to clear...
-
VR's do idle low - meant to be 650 I think... First of all have you been thru the basic settings procedure?

The easiest entry into this would be to drolp a TSI engine in I would have thought... there are bound to be some second hand ones soon as they've been on the roads over 6 months...

No just change the disc mate - it's held on with a split pin (!!!) - taper style wheel bearing... New Disc and Bearing will be about £30 but you may want to do both sides plus pads...
-
It's an M8 x 80 you need ideally and thats standard M8 thread pitch... You can get the bolt from B&Q but try and get one with 8.8 written on it so you know it's a decent tensile strength - last thing you want is it snapping in the unit! JUst look for a bearing supplier in the phone book - check prices tho as some place in ipswich charged me nearly twice the above for one!
-
New battery/coil/starter/Ht leads/rotor arm + cap later You changed all the above and didn't try an ignition switch!!!!! Get a switch first and just plug it in and try it...
-
You can stick the X-overs where the ABS ECU would be...

It's just a spring tensioner with a bearing roller, to detension you just use an M8x80 Bolt into the hole provided...

That's yer shift weight! It's just there to assist in smooth changes - I would check what is loose tho and what caused it to come off, there should be play in the mech but not much... A mate of mine had a mk3 with loads of play and becuase he left it, something eventually broke and in total he had to replace 3 parts becuase of excessive wear and it cost nearly £300...
