Hmmm - just looking at the broken one where the base was completly smashed from the main unit the other night... It looks to me as if they will not come apart (not meant to anyways) so I think i'll do the above as you cannot buy any individual parts for these either, just the main unit, glass, bolts and gasket...

DAZ LEWIS, Welcome to the forum... I think someone makes a blanking panel for the boot but can't remember who... You'll need the recess off a french car and have that grafted into the bumper to do the relocation - may be best to have a look on the Golf forums for some more info as it's been done loads of times on a mk2...

I wouldn't say 300 miles from £60 is ok for a VR!! They should make good economy - near to 35mpg on a long run but obviously depends on driving style... MAFs - best bet for early ones is BOSCH dealer exchange...

The only thing I can think that you've missed is Bumpstops and the rear ones will be knackered! - get these from GSF as they are rubber rather than foam so will last longer! Anything else OE I would get from VAG - especially the topmounts as they are far better quality than the GSF items!

Up to you, the TA's with H&R's seem to give a really even setup on a VR anyway and the rear Koni TA's have a 5 position circlip height adjustment to match the fronts... Then again, the FK coilovers are fairly well priced now and seem to give a similar ride...

Yep, check the fluid level and for signs of fluid on top of the gearbox... they leak internally at first but if it's sticking down then I would expect to see fluid externally... Slave is about £40 from VAG

g666o, welcome to the forum! Check the belt, check it's not slack - butmake sure it's not too tight... What does the power steering fluid look like - should be green and transparent, if not then change it!

Kezbo, are you still running the mk3 rear calipers?? - Is the brake bias valve working ok?? this can have a serious effect on the brake feel... Look at your rear disks to see if the rear brakes are working correctly - are they clean??

erm... I just ordered the bolts for Dinkus but I think these are the 4 outer ones... M10 I think, big feckers - were about a fiver for the 4....
