Is the driver side wheel noticably warmer after a run than the other side?? If that is the case then that would indicate the brakes are binding, due to lact of grease, old fluid or just a sticky caliper... you may find the Pads have gone shiney and need a light sanding when you come to fix the problem...

The new Golf GTi has some fairly well sized rear brakes...

Just 1 as standard but most of us think they look better with 2, just note that there is no reflector on the missing one so it looks a bit different!

Storm Classic, honestly mate, pay the £20 or get a garage to do it - It could take you all day to wind them back without the correct tool!

Yeah, just go to VW and ask for a dialogue printout, they willalso be able to provide a duplicate service book and stamp it up to when the VW service history stopped.

Are you on about the new 'Laser' ones they (Halfords) sell Steve?? - I managed to get one of the Sykes Pickavent ones for £12 when they were selling them off but I must say the new stuff doesn't look as good - worse quality tools for more money!

Yep, rear caliper windback tool, Halfords ~ £20

Nelson_Wilbury, you seem to have a strange obsession with Mr Winner...

Just 1.8 16V, Welcome to the forum... The early headlamp units are relatively cheap from VW now considering they come complete with the lenses, I'd buy a new pair and stick yours on eBay!
-
Nope, the VR6 is based on mainly Mk3 stuff, Ie the 'plus' suspension, engine mounts etc...
-
Engine mounts or top mounts? *deleted duplicate in wanted section.
-
If you spray a fine mist of water over them it makes it far more exciting!

Hmmm... Not really sure what you mean, can you not just use the bit off your existing one? Here's a pic of mine... -
fla, did you clear the codes and re-scan?? If not they could have been there for ages and the rear ones may have been triggered on a rolling road so there may not be anything wrong!
-
They sometimes end up in the boot... The part number for the metal Hazet tool is T10029
-
I wonder if they actually knew they'd just met 'Miss VW'
