  1. Run a hose through it to force the old stuff out then start to put the hoses on and add the right amount of G12+, run it withou t the cap on and sqeeeze the pipes to force the coolant to mix and get the air out of the system, as the stat opens put the cap back on, turn the engine off, let it cool. Later top it up and take it for a drive taking a top up bottle with you.
  2. :( Oh mate - I'm really sorry for you but at least you weren't hurt and thats the main thing!! I'd make sure you take a few days off work mate - sounds like you need a rest! My car is feeling a bit sloppy at the moment, especially as there is alot of new tarmac about and the roads are getting greasy as Kev says - Be careful people!
  3. If its going right up to 110degrees in traffic then the thermoswitch is knackered.
  4. Yep, it will be less than 2bar (thats 28PSI!!) - you won't get 1 bar from a standard charger with standard pully - around 11 PSI is about right I think... You can also take a reading from the MFA in diagnostic mode but not sure what the unit of measurements are...
  5. Preferably in a Corrado...
  6. Remove engine as per section 1....
  7. I take it you could just change the rocker cover for a later one...
  8. What - the tyres were worn or out of shape??
  9. More likely the tensioner unit, the rubber bushes at each end perish with age, (especially if it been off a few times to change belts, charger rebuilds, waterpump etc) and the damper starts to run off centre wearing against the spring, mine was knackerd at 80k and had only been off once to change the V belt. About £50 from VW for the whole unit.
  10. Ahh - I know what he means now...
  11. Agreed, you need to be able to brake as hard as other cars on the road and most new cars come with 280mm or equivelent as standard. Also I think anyone increasing performance by any significant amount should be doing the brakes first if not soon after!
  12. You need to drop the box to change the clutch - you won't loose gear oil thru disconecting driveshafts, just a bit of grease...
  13. - He should have a new set of speedlines and tyres by then also
  14. Below the oil cap? on the head? - yeah, think I know what you mean - I'll have a look at ETKA...
  15. You'll never get 2litres into the box with it still in the car anyway but of you need to make up the bit extra just get some Slick 50...
  16. And a Sharan takes all your money and leaves you with an STD
  17. Spotted H*** HEV along Rope Walk in Ipswich earier, looked fairly tidy
  18. I think you need the mk2 16V ones but you may find one or two don't fit...
  19. Yep, check the fluid resevior and look for signs of a leak around the hydraulic pipes and the slave...
  20. Pipes from dealer so you may as well let them look up the part numbers - yes, you must use the VAG PAS fluid, ATF fluid is used in other cars but not compatible with VAG!
  21. Hmmm - maybe at idle because of lack of airflow but not when driven - especiallty in this weather! You could bridge the fan switch plug and run it continously (just to test) Stat sounds ok as Rad is getting hot but it wouldn't be a bad thing to change it and the temp sensors also... may as well do the water pump as well!
