Try taking the lower cowling off the column, One of the screws goes into a metal clip and need to be located carefully, I had the same metal rattle on mine and found the scew was not going into anything (Probably thanks to the monkey that fitted the Clifford)

Electrical problem- Big one at that Help needed urgently

I think he's refering to the V belt as the belt that runs the alternator is often referred to as a fan belt... The garage would have had no reason to remove it to change the slave cyl but would have noticed when they test drove the car or at least drove it out the garage! - the battery light would have been on... Its incompetance mate, contact trading standards  -
Hmm... I havn't noticed it on mine, it might be a slight fault or one of those things that alot of people get so we think its a 'feature' I'd be temped to change the ABS realy (about £7) and see if it goes away....

Shorted ACC to Earth in the radio now car is not starting

Superb... 8) The problem with the push button starts is that you still need the Key in the lock barrel to disable the steering lock or are people removing this?? -
Hehe - last time I was at GSF, I asked for something that they didn't have, mentioned that I was going to VAG anyway and they gave me some wheel bearings to take and deliver to them!! - Nice... :?

Give the ISV a good clean with carb cleaner and check all the sensors are working....
-
I think he was refering to the hub bolt pattern being drilled/taped...

Nearly 2500 posts Dazzy and no Donation to the forum... tut tut Surely you can spare a tenner to help Andi out with some of the running costs of the site... Your from Wales not Scotland

Check the tension on the belt and change it if its cracked....

Agreed, mind you it may have been the Mintex pads that were the problem... I had some on a Golf with Mintex discs also, The pads kept going shiny every 500 miles, kept taking off, sanding down applied more grease, carefully wearing them in again and the same thing kept happening, I got fed up and changed for a set of standard Pagid pads which were fine, sent the pads to Mintex who found them to be a faulty batch (compound too hard) and refunded me, then about 6 months later with the new pads only slightly worn, I had to change the discs as they had warped (probably bacause of the first set of pads overheating them)

Idealy yes but it doesn't really matter if you fit the ARB before hand, but if your existing shocks are knackered then from a safety point of view you should do the damping components first...
-
Nope there fine and braking responce is really good, as Kev says the Pagid grooved don't seem to be up to much as half of his grooves are worn away in less than 10k's and I would have thought they were made to go with the FR pads??
-
Just make sure they take out the bonded rear window etc when they spray it otherwise you WILL be able to tell....
-
Dazzy, I know there not made by VAG, most parts aren't but the quality control on parts that VAG use will be much higher than the stuff thats gets sold thru GSF/ECP - No question! From personell experience I've tried a few types of discs over the years and most pads and the only ones that i've never had problems with are VAG discs and Pagid pads...
-
Kevhaywire has the 25mm setup front and rear altho he only had the rear fitted to start with and its that that makes the biggest improvement as you have the front as standard... I have the Eibachs which are cheaper but don't have the rose-joints that neuspeed use (I went for a pair as the front droplinks were worn and it makes sense to fit a new front ARB with the old droplinks, as its MUCH bigger in diameter) I'm sure it would eliminate some roll but the height of the car is still the main problem as there is more momentum to increase roll...
-
At least if its done under insurance (and it is alot of work) then you will have a warranty on the repairs etc.... Well... I've got to get in there before Kev....
-
PS - can I have first dibs on the Recaro's
-
Good luck mate - Its gonna be a close one!!
-
And it works fine on 2k too with the same crack! Also looks good on a 19" TFT! Does anyone have a recent price file for it??
-
You know the quality of the VAG discs and there cheaper than most of the others mentioned from GSF etc, most of the 'OE' quality discs I have seen from GSF etc don't last more than one set of pads but you know VAG discs will last alot longer... one of my golfs was still on its original front discs at 100k and I brought a pair from GSF that only lasted a year! My G60 is approaching 90k and the original discs are still fine but will probably need doing soon due to wear tollerances so at £20 a side i'll have another pair of VAG ones i think and they seem to work very well with Pagid FR pads! Whatever you do , don't buy cheap GSF discs or EBC pads (there awful!)
-
Randal, just use any lupo arm and blade (same as fronts) and take it somewhere that can heat it up to get the blade 'holder' off the arm, then chop your existing rear arm and clamp the holder onto it then give it a spray with some black paint!

Have you checked the fuses near the battery, usually there will be one there for the alarm etc... -
No worries, got it sorted now, founf the XP crack on some dodgy site and works fine now.... and doesn't need the compatability mode option like ETKA 5 8) I'll see if it works on 2k tomorrow at work...
-
Ok, ETKA 6 half works over the top of 5 but after removing them both, i'm just getting the hardlock error - not sure if the 'patch' is on the disc or not, can someone give me the details or stick it on the web soemwhere?
-
I'll be having a copy of that then! - I just want the updated prices really....
