Ok, here's an interesting one for you all :) I have been messing around with the damping rates of my Koni TA's (all round with H&R springs and Eibach ARBs) for a while now and altho i'm happy with the setup, I can never get it quite right... the roads round here don't help either... Anyways, what is interesting is at present a have the fronts set at 1 and 3/4 turns and the rears at 1/2 a turn (from soft) and the car handles noticably better with a huge block of marble in the boot (don't ask  ) So... the rear feels much more stable around corners with extra weight on it so what do i need to adjust to compensate...?

As some of you will know my car wasn't performing that well at the recent RRday and just to let you know It's all sorted and is going like a rocket - feels torque'ier and much more responsive! I'd like to say a BIG thanks to the guys at G-werks / Pitstop Developements especially Darren who went out of his way to sort out my 'jinxed' car and worked well into the night to troubleshoot the running issues as he was not happy with it - now thats what you call good customer service! :) When I had the charger done, we also did the water pump, fitted Samco's (which really held us up) and messed around with the oil cooler etc so we didn't have time to test it out fully as it was so late, so second time round we went thru everything, found a couple of large boost leaks (- plastic pipes near battery and one on TB) and spent ages testing it with the boost gauge and tweking the ignition timing to get it just right and for this Darren refused to charge me anything, I think overall he charged me for less than half the time he spent on the car!! Top bloke and highly recomended. :D The spec is now Stage 4 charger, 68mm pulley, SNS v5.5 chip with standard Intercooler, airbox and boost return still in place. After we fixed the problems we found we were getting 14.5PSI on the gauge (just over a Bar) at 6200rpm which seems pretty healthy - he said the charger was in good condition internally considering it had never been off the car in 89k miles and the engine was putting out 170BHP last year completly standard) Also the 14.5 PSI was on a very hot day and without any cold air feed... earlier on we found +2 PSI running the car with no drivers headlight but this is when it still had a boost leak so was down on boost anyways... Hopefully looking at around 17PSI when the colder weather comes and I have some sort of intake sorted! - almost making me look forward to winter! :? The drive back home was certainly quicker this time (last time I was running in the charger and leaking boost) plus I also had a huge block of marble in the boot - Yes, G-werks also specialise in kitchen work surfaces as well as G60 tuning. Can people with similar setups let me know what boost and BHP figures they are getting so I can get an idea of what to expect when I take it on the rollers...? It certainly feels quicker that any standard VR6 I have driven 8)

Whats the fastest you have ever been in your Corrado?

Ok, the car was feeling superb after G-werks sorted it yesterday so on my way back I found myself on an empty stretch of flat private road (well, I couldn't see anyone else) at around midnight so thought i'd go for it... The car just kept pulling up to 159MPH (couldn't quite hit 160) on the clock and I held it there for a few seconds, at that point it stopped to accellerate but the revs were still increasing (not sure what I hit but well into the red 6500 maybe) as I guess the wind resistance was holding against me... I'd forgotten the GPS recorded the max speed until this morning when I looked at it - 150.0MPH exactly 8) which I guess is about as accurate as you can get, this makes sense because at 100mph i'm actually doing 95 so to read 9mph out at that speed is pretty good by all acounts considering they are designed to 'over-read' It was amazing how stable the car was at that speed altho I was gripping the steering wheel so hard my hands were sweating! and it got fairly noisey, with a mixture of charger, engine and wind resistance! I don't drive to those sorts of speeds very often by the way and now i've done that I won't really have a urge to do it again and I wouldn't recommend anyone else to unless you are sure the car is mechanically sound in all respects... -
dinkus, just bear in mind that if say a week or so after it comes out the body shop you 'notice' any problems around the suspension area that were a result of the accident, they'll have to renew those also under insurance...

I'm also interested in this, I've almost decided to go for the TomTom as it seems to be regarded as the best on the market fro the price but I also need a PDA as my Sony Clie is way too old... I was fairly impressed with my friends new HP iPaq the other day, seems very good in terms of build quality alto I wouldn't mind another Sony but not sure if the software can be got or is as good?? I've not looked at at Axim but I won't be buying Dell on the principal that the build quality of both there laptops and desktop PC's seems to get worse everytime they bring out a new model!

Nah, I bet they've had paint at one time or another...especially if its just on one side or panel...

The Eibach kit came with everything but the droplinks but that was ok because I bassically went for the uprated ones because my MOT bloke said you could see daylight thru the droplink bushes as they were worn but these we're reused becasue the Eibachs are much thicker in diametre, new ones would have been a git to get on and I suppose would need drilling out somehow for the uprated bars... As Dazzy says the VR ones are different but all other cars are 191 411 315A - £8.63 each but they take ages to get or did when I ordered last year which was handy as I cancelled mine on advice from Vince...

Think you mean Samco, a full set for a VR is about £225 - there was a guy at the Volksfest selling them... I have just fitted a set to my G60, some go straight on, others are a complete git! - they look nice tho now fitted!

Hmmm, I know the wiring is completly different for early and late cars....

Easiest way to replace the waterpump advice please
Supercharged replied to dannyp01's topic in Archive
Ok, I did mine while down at Gwerks while the charger was off, once you remove the charger bracket its just an 8v GTi... It's worth spraying some Plus Gas on all the charger bolts etc a week before doing the job, makes it much easier to undo things, my charger had never been off the car and altho some of the bolts were tight, it all came apart fairly easily... Make sure you buy a complete water pump from VW (not just the impeller which is more than twice the price anyway and if the seal between has gone then the bolts will most likely snap) and a new thermostat (both come to around £25 and come with O rings) you may also want to buy the plastic thermostat housing and a couple of bottles of G12+ -
The Handles are only £15 each from VAG, not sure about the mechs...

Yep, same thing happened to me a while back, I parked the other way up my road to the usualy altho I had parked that way before and since in the rain but only that one time did the passenger footwell get absolutly soaked anmd it took about 3 days to dry completly... I too thought it was the matrix but has been fine since, i cleared the drain channels but they didn't seem blocked

Yep, that should sort it on any Intel P4 (or that generation of celeron) machines 8)

Has the bighairybstrd turned into a bighairymuppet ?? :-P There is no option for the peeling lacquer really - you can use T cut to get rid of the lines but as soon as any moisture gets under there they will return, its probably had a 'masked' spray job done on it in the past... mine had the same problem on one side and I ended up getting it reprayed.

The Corrado does use drop links for the front ARB

Search for 'ignition bypass' and try that first....

... access to Dixons...

Yup,if the middle number on the Passat handle is 839 then you will need to get a similar mech to match it - preferably without child locks - do a search, all the part numbers are on here somewhere...

Whan you say 'gone' what exactly do you mean???? If for instance your clutch pedal has sunk to the floor then this would point to a hydraulic problem - maybe a leak from the slave cylinder which on top of the gearbox...

Running Etka and Robert Bently on XP
Supercharged replied to Andy Brookes's topic in General Car Chat
Yeah ETKA 5 needs the compat mode in XP but ETKA 6 just works fine.... Bentley manual - are you running an Intel chip?? Try searching for and changing the file named symcjit.dll to symcjit.old (you may have to change the permissions or take ownership of the file to rename it) There is a guide to get this working in the Problems section. -
Couldn't have been me, I traded mine in for a Lexus...

Yup, I'd be interested depending on price....
