  1. Have a look at... http://www.turn2usa.com for gearbox mounts
  2. T-cut is very effective, especially on tornado red, but not to be used all the time! - once or twice a year should surfice and be careful not to get it on the black rubber seals.
  3. ..Or take a new one for a test drive and swap the parts
  4. Guys, when I say the mechs I mean the ones on the inside of the door that the handles strike onto as the passat ones strike at a different point to the originals... For the rear handle mod you will need remote central locking but the fronts should plug in as a direct replacement (if you want to unlock the car using the key)
  5. He doesn't drive them - he's not as stupid as us lot! :)
  6. So I take it the Cupra is not under warranty still as I thought they only started producing them in 2000?
  7. Mike's finally got himself a real car!

    Blue Smoke

Yeah Deffo. I'm not saying the isn't a problem at all but a 10 year old car is going to be more likely to leak oil thru seals than a 3 year old car and the thinner the oil the more chance there is of this happening but going from a 10w to a 0w is always going to cause trouble, especially as VW don't even list 0w! I did try Gold syntha (5w-40) when I first got the car (I had some spare) and it certainly highlighted the leaky sump gasket! which was not noted on the service 2k miles before and the guy that owned the car previous to me (friend of mine) had not even noticed it! - since changing the gasket i've been running on Silver, and changing it every 3k miles (as I only do about 9k a year) :)
  9. Whats the difference between them and the Blue Igniters you have currrently?

    Blue Smoke

Before getting any major work done I would change to Silver Syntha asap as Kev says... A mate of mine with a VR tried the gold syntha (cooking oil) and found that he got a nice puff of black smoke between gear changes and got thru 3 litres of oil in 5k miles! went back to Silver and his oil consumption returned to its usual one ltr per 3-5k's and 18 months later its still running just as clean. VW's quoted 1ltr per k is just to cover themselves as new cars even now tend to use alot during run-in but if anyone is using that much now then it must either be leaking, burning or coming out of the exhaust!
  11. If you are using XP - you need to be running it in compatability mode for 98/Me?? (On a 2k box you do the same but need to use the compatability tool from the resource kit)
  12. No, the seal is part of the glass, and is ok if cut out at the right angle i'm told, just needs bonding back in - they've done a good job on mine and i'd recomend doing it properly if you intend on keeping the car... you don't want peeling lacquer 3 years down the line! Just make sure whoever does it knows what there doing as its a £400 per side for the glass and seal as a unit.
  13. I think i'd still rather have one VR tho...
  14. Try... http://www.vwspares.co.uk/corrado_electrical.html for Beru HT's
  15. I think the Halfords ones will be alot better quality than the crap on eBay! LEDS from http://www.Ultraleds.com
  16. I asked the same question a few weeks ago after my car was hit but forgot to follow it up... The shop that painted it did get the glasss taken out but they got a glass company to come in and cut it out then bond it back in again, I don't think it was that difficult for people with the right skills, smae as the windscreen i suppose!
  17. I've just been doing some benchmark tests using an Athlon 2400 and a P4 2.4GHz and I'm getting an extra 20bhp from the athlon at 5000rpm plus another 11lb/ft
  18. No, I love Amd... there better value because of there QuantiSpeed architecture :?
  19. :) - but if you get one of there ones you also get an extra 20bhp
