  1. AC Delco may have been Voted "ICE battery of the year"... But who were voted to be "RICE battery of the year!"?? LOL
  2. LHD-G60, Yeah I would keep it LHD - much better car than a RHD in terms of weight distribution as the engine was designed to counterbalance the driver! Must have been to expensive to make all the engine parts backwards for the RHD cars!!! Also german corrado's are alot better built than the 'seconds' we got over here, If you compare them you find alot better sound proofing and standard equipement which is strange as they were all built in the same factory by Karman unlike other VW's where the differences spur from the country they were produced. The lack of corrosion obviously comes from the hot country's it has resided, chassis wise it may be one of the best examples around as sounds like its worth restoring - I stopped reading PVW when they started to do articles on some of the ugliest corrado's I have ever seen and ones that I didn't even recognise as C's! Tornado red of that era always suffered from bleaching effects of UV but it is one of the cheapest colours to get hold of and because paint technology has moved along now, you don't need to really worry about it if you get it repainted in its original colour. I wonder what you would have to do to register it as a 'new' car in the UK??
  3. A slight missunderstanding or the term 'student loan' i think... LOL
  4. Last time I was at stealth I noticed some braided lines on a storm and they had fitted a kind of insulated coil around them to protect them and to protect other parts from the abrasiveness of the braiding which is something alot of garages neglect to consider.
  5. dubster82, you havn't driven a Golf GTDI PD 150 then! Easily matches my 170bhp G60 for power and response with loads more torque and better gearing.... I only went to test drive because I was bored one day and nearly ended up buying it! but then I realised it was not a corrado! Jurgen TDI, looks supperb mate :) , what is your estimate on the cost of the conversion and the labour time? Any major problems /tips??
  6. Mine showed 170bhp a month ago at Stealth, original charger and completly standard apart from powerflow cat-back! 83k miles with regular oil changes. I'd be hoping for 190+ after a stage 4 rebuild and so on...
  7. Genuine Corrado handles can be got for £45+vat from GPC
  8. http://www.stealthracing.co.uk/ - They know Corrado's and the VR6 Engine better than anyone in the UK!
  9. Door Handles (Corrado) - 536 837 205/206A Mechs Corrado - 536 837 015/016 Door Handles (Passat) - 357 839 205/206 Passat Mechs - 8A0 839 015/016A These are the numbers I used (right/left) - the first 3 numbers are just from the cars they came off, my chromed mechs were obviously from a different chassis hence the 8AO.
  10. No, the front passat locks are 837, same as Corrado, the rears are the 839 part number (the number in the middle needs to match the handles you use) - get the matching numbers and they will bolt on in minutes! You will need to remote locking working from your alarm and then you will need to disconect the switch wiring from the handles - as you take the handles off they may just pull off (or fall off) - i would insulate each of the 3 wires and put them back into the door, that way you do not even need to take the door cards off! The Handles are only £17 new, not sure about the locks... best to just get them from a scrap yard, I got some chromed locks at Inters! The childlocks don't really matter to be honest, its just a small lever at the bottom and you can drill them out if you wish.
  11. If it is fully synth in there at the moment It will probably be better after changing to the heavier quatum semi (10W-40) Make sure you also use the correct G60 filter - should have a hex shape at one end
  12. Halfords do the Porter manual for a fiver, or Haynes manuals for similar age cars will be fine for brakes and other components shared across the VW range - Passat, Golf etc... The best and only true manual for the corrado is the Bentley - not the best at explaining how to do things as its aimed at trained mechanics for reference but the diagrams are superb and it has wiring diags for the whole car!
  13. Its probably one of those things that If you take it off, It will never go back on like it was before, they may be able to heat it or use some sealant to make it fit better but its probably best just to replace it - especially as its a Storm! I would take it back to them, if it was an insurance job they should have budgeted for parts like that and the car should be at least as good as it was before the accident.
  14. Have you checked the fuse is the right size - IE not just replaced the one that was there and may be wrong?
  15. Well... there is a large roundabout (some people call it the M25) - thats the one I use!
  16. You can tell from the outside if its early or late, the later ones have a groove around the lock to stop keys slipping / scratching - they changed the outside but as far as I know there still the same inside - still break! I think its more likely you have a faultly lock switch or the lock barrel is not quite in right.
  17. Same button on fob to lock / unlock? If not then try another or open it to see if the button is faulty? before you start messing around with the car. I take it the central locking works from the key in the door handle?
  18. The screw highlighted is the only thing that should be holding the disc on... As far as I know the front breaks are like this on all Corrado's, the G60's and VR6's are slightly bigger (calipers, pads and discs) and the VR has the 5 stud patern.
  19. Exactly - there was a letter printer in the Sprinter from VW to the CCGB about there entitlement to the scheme! I don't know what VW's problem is giving enthusiasts running older classic cars a few quid off certain parts!!! - the amount they must make off other parts and new cars!!!!
  20. Its a long way for me but I'll try and get there!!
  21. or wheel bearing? - the single screw that releases the disk is not in the midle!
