  1. Perhaps helps if you spell brakes correctly ;) Typing 'spongey brakes' in the white search box at the top of the page yields all this lot. Even gives you the option of spongey and spongy spellings...! Have a read...
  2. Recovery companies are not allowed to prioritise 'women' anymore, it would be desciminatory. If there is a dire emergency, the Police need to be called to attend. You get good field agents.. you get naff ones.. luck of the draw sadly. Most of them, if they can blame it on an alarm/immobiliser, they will and not touch it. We're also close the American sue-culture, where if they did do any work on the car which made it worse, they would suffer the backlash and likely lose their job. It helps to know what the problem is and guide them.. but alas not everyone has the on-board diagnostics within their Mk1 Brain.
  3. I find the Polish at my local car wash do a good job of valeting my car too...

  5. If you hit a pot hole with enough force to puncture a tyre, I think another alignment check would be in order. As it was only the front, you only need a cheap front alignment check... If the alignment was whacked out, its probably been pulling and pulling and making it worse over the past 3 months. Running 17s also means your alignment needs to be spot on, or the car will choose its own course a lot of the time ;)
  6. I seem to remember it was the other half of a member of the CCGB Committee a few years ago... (That's not liable lies from me, btw - I genuinely remember it from the eGroup - they thought it was all a great laugh..)

    DDI dials fitted. BUT?

I put red filters on the bulbs on mine. Didn't illuminate the dials anymore, but the needles glowed a lovely visible red ;)
  8. You'll need to recrimp all the cables. Should be able to use bullet-connectors or straight-through connectors if you're strong enough with a pair of piers (though a proper crimper is a LOT easier)
  9. Sounds like you have the wrong ones on one side... Worth popping to Halfords with it in the car and they will look and tell you instantly what's wrong. I _think_ the car-side ones are female (to reduce shorts if nothing's connected) and the stereo-side ones should be the male ones... They may have a female-to-female cable to go in-between, but I think its just one of them is wrong, I'm afraid!
  10. You may be able to find the manual in PDF form if you search Google/Sony. Reconnect the blocks that you chopped off the car loom. Then get the opposite connectors from Halfords (or whoever) and attach that to the wires in the loom of the stereo - don't remove those wires too - it won't just plug into the back of the stereo itself sadly. It's worth spending the extra time getting it right first time, trust me :) Done enough stereos for myself, friends, etc in the past.
  11. Your stereo's manual should have a pin-out for the standard ISO block loom (which you've just cut off from your car... ). If you match that to the blocks you've just removed, you should be able to work it out. Personally, I would have attached another ISO block onto the stereo, then just plugged it all back in... Just need to buy an extension from Halfords, chop one end off, and crimp the other end onto your wires on the stereo. Then just plug in. Makes changing your stereo in the future far simpler too - 5 min job instead of 1+ hours and potential shorts, etc.. It drives me MAD when I buy a car that's had the loom mullered. A job isn't worth doing if you're not going to do it properly -- especially with electrics.
  12. There is a search you know ;) Last post here will help: http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21848 Cat 2 -> Cat 1 is nothing to do with the immobiliser still. Just means you have an alarm with a battery-backed-up siren, internal, bonnet and boot sensors. Still shouldn't touch the fuel pump.
  13. The laser detection is pretty pointless anyway. Laser beams are so minute and accurate, if it picks it up, it's looking at your car (not someone elses) and they'll already have your speed (measured within half a second) so too late, sunshine. I know. Road Angel shouting "Laser! Laser!" at me, but it was too late. 3 points. Thanks, Tiff.
  14. Fuel pump relay will only trigger if it gets its switched earth from the ECU. The relay could be foobar'd, or just its earth pin. Or yes, ignitiion switch. Immobilisers don't need to touch the fuel pump to be Cat 2, so it shouldn't be that.
  15. you wot? :? Google translate: Laugh out louds. Oh my Gosh. G-Werks. What is up, cool person. Isn't it. You know. I can speak 'yoof'. Studied it at University.

    works van

If the speedo is 10% over-reading, as per spec, it's probably actually bang-on 70mph...
  19. One of the most common Corrado problems - but then you would have known this if you bothered to use the search. Please do so. Locking.
  20. Alida contacted me directly for details of certain members already known by the producer of the programme, just so you know. I, with their permission, have passed on their details - but I'm sure she will post back on here if more are needed.
  21. I bought it from PACParts in the end and they're sending it to a pal in the states who'll then send it over. Alpine UK would only sell my the complete fascia @ £150!
  22. Hmmm. I spoke to the Canadian company and they quoted $98.33 + $33 shipping (he guessed) for a nose plate for the CDA-9833A (which is cracked - not changing colour). Seems a little unfair :( PACParts in the US quoted $27, but won't deliver to the UK. Gonna have to get it delivered to a friendly person in the US me thinks....
  23. On the news: "The more polluting cars, road tax will double." Since older cars are on CC, and not CO2, I think we're safe... Petrol up by 2p/litre from October too.
  24. You're rallying CCGB members on The CF? Surely you should be posting on your 'special' CCGB forum. Then approach me. Thread locked.
