  1. Blue VR6 somewhere near Tooting Bec on Sunday Morning, about 10am, he waved, I waved, it was beautiful. Dark Burgandy Pearl (I think) one in Winchester on Romsey Road, Monday lunchtime, they flashed. I woke up just in time to wave back.

    Was Megan not pretty?
  3. You shouldn't need to drain the tank completely. Can you post pictures of the offending item? cheers.

    VR6 Coilpack

The MSD coilpacks don't like the heat from the VR and fail quickly.
  5. I'm sure people say that about people keeping 15-20 year old VWs on the road.
  6. The tyres on my work car were down to about 20psi in the last lot of snow and were useless. I pumped them up and they're still useless. Conti Eco Contacts or something. To be honest whatever work car I had last year was better. Not sure if the fact the tyres are 3 years old (plenty of tread left) is not helping. I've noticed that they spin and skid easily when it's just wet too.
  7. They're just making me hate them even more. Knobbers.
  8. Hopefully it's just bumper, rad support panel etc. The power steering cooler is in this area so you might have crushed it resulting in the heavy steering. Get some pics of the damage up, & good luck!
  9. Im pretty sure its weather related seems like to much of a coincidence that it happens just as it goes really cold. Also if it is barrel related i thought you could give VW your key code and they would order a barrel thats the same as all the other locks ? Maybe  Fingers crossed!
  10. Pretty easy, don't remember the price though. You drill a small hole in the steering column and pop the ignition barrel out, then the new one in. New key time though.....
  11. My ignition barrel failed and the key wouldn't turn at all. Had to replace it.
  12. Wouldn't Irish Green = Red for everyone else?
  13. Looks good dude. Lovely colour.
  14. My two are loving it. Both sat on the drive under a couple of inches of snow. :) Have had a vehicle from work since the snow started. Seen some impressive crashes this weekend; an Alfa with a bollard completely within the engine bay, an MX5 that had spun out and been T Boned by the car following it, and a friend has posted pics of a SUV parked across the road, then upside down. I can only imagine it was operator error in each instance.
  15. I didn't want to quote the whole thing. You'd have thought that after snow 2 weeks ago, and plenty of forecasts predicting the current snow people would have gone and bought some salt or gravel (Preferably a mixture of both) to get some traction on their drives. Oh well. :)
  16. I watched the Arctic challenge program on Dave yesterday, made me realise what complete arses Hammond and Clarkson are.
  17. I completely agree. End of the day some people will struggle, even people who know what they are doing (I've run myself over in the past). Personally I couldn't sit around and watch someone struggling like that. I've had to get out of the car while in gear and push like that in the past, only way to get going by yourself. As for the guy who was videoing and laughing, I do hope it's your house that she drove into.
  18. Yeah, I'd pulled up there to let the gimp in the Hilux get far enough ahead I'd be able to get up the next hill. Stopped with some assistance from the handbrake. :)
  19. I think you've hit the nail on the head. Quite a lot of us do make regular donations to the forum. This isn't some half arsed free forum, people pay to keep it going, quick and advert free. It was primarily set up by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts to discuss the cars, and the market place became part of that, for enthusiasts to trade parts and cars between themselves, not for profiteers to take advantage of the wane in availability of parts.
  20. Well proper VW ones will probably last 10+ years. I think the ones GSF sell you aren't cranked over to one side. DanVWs car did this too.
