I had thought of that but I don't want to end up with all the bits looking dirty as the muck sticks to the wax oil. I bought some ACF-50 which is an anti corrosive coating and I put it on the aluminium heat shields to stop them discolouring again, this might work looking at the website.

Good tidy install, what power are you expecting? I had a new tank fitted by VW and not long after the water light started to flash in the car every so often. Is this what yours was doing?
-
Thanks Michael, it will really help as I'm not sure whether I should use any standard brackets at all. Mine doesnt seem to protrude out the bumper as far as yours either (ooh er!!)
-
Cheers Guys, really pleased with how the coilovers came out, better then i thought and a real sense of satisfaction. Got the heat shields on and fitted the restored exhaust hanger and bolts.

Love the car Michael and them photos really make the paint look wet. I've been trial fitting my supersprint tonight and wondered if I have the brackets the right way round. Don't suppose if you get time you could send me some pics of how your brackets are could you please?
-
So got the springs back from powder coat and the struts from the platers. They've both done a great job and along with the new stickers from H&R they almost look like new. So from this: To this: Off to the garage to fit the heat shields and exhaust.

PM sent regarding some brake lines for my VR6 Cheers Chris

I can't remember the weight, possibly just less then 50kg but that was the one I bought and it had discs, spindles etc. £20 is fine by me. Then if you decide you want me to courier it i can. No going to elsecar are you?
-
Cheers bill. The beam itself is only £20, when I bought the beam for mine it cost me £50 for a courier to pick it up. Are the rear backplates too expensive? Might get them blasted and powder coated, then try and sell again.
-
No Probs, will take one tonight, do you have an email address to send to, its easier for me that way.
-
As taken off my VR, the rear beam with both mounting brackets. £70 posted Also have a pair of rear backplates, good condition with a bit of surface rust but nice and straight £25 posted Chris

Looks tidy and you went for the best colour.

Well time isnt on my side at the moment and with many weekends taken up recently with swimming I just dont get any good run on the Corrado. Looks like it wont be at Elsecar. Anyway, I got all the underneath cleaned using APC, turps and a toothbrush. All the Aluminium heat shields went for vapour blasting to give them a clean and picked them up today: Also got bumper iron, brake calipers, petrol tank straps and a few other bits for blasting and just waiting for my bumper heat shield to arrive from VW Germany before sending to powder coat. Made up a rear brake pipe, painted it in Hammerite Wild Thyme (as recommended by James) and got it fitted. The rear beam brake lines are in good shape so these have been sanded to bare metal and will be painted once the end fittings have been yellow zinc coated. Well one thing seems to lead to another and checking the coilovers I cant really fit these back on the car I sripped them down for a clean and the springs are not too bad but still corroded in places So I did this: The main struts are also beyond a bit of cleaning so I did this: So springs are at powder coaters and struts gone for re-plating and H&R have kindly sent me some new stickers. Should have completed coilovers by weekend and hopefully the exhaust back on.

Had to share this, really proud Dad today. My daughter became the fastest 10 year old 50m freestyler in Yorkshire today!!!

Got the rear coilovers off my car and am stripping them for a bit of renovation work. I've measured the amount of thread showing under the springs so I can set them up again afterwards and weirdly one side has 80mm of thread showing and the other has 68mm! The car sat perfectly level though. Anyone had this before or know why? Cheers

Haven't seen your Corrado in the flesh but certainly doesn't look to need a respray! Mk2 looks nice. -
I think pictures should be added to this thread!

Have you got it inside at ultimate dubs?
