Prop finally fitted at (1:30 am last night)! Drivetrain complete  Major mileston for me :D Re-used the syncro prop heatsheilding as the C has the holders in the right place allready 8) Some of the latest pics: Only prob was rubber dougnout on the transfer box end - P steering pipe had to be re-profiled to provide clearence: Just need to squeeze a downpipe past this little lot then I can take her for a blast!

The fluid looks fine (no discoloration) etc, but I will change it anyhow. really struggle to find time to work on any car at the mo, even my Corrado! LOL
-
Are you serious!?! - no wonder it's failed an MOT, probably dangerous to drive too!! Thats the weird thing, there are no signs when driving. No juddering, no pulling to one side, no funny noises...nothing.
-
Cheers guys Forgot to mention its the missus's car - 5 year old vectra - told her not to buy vauxhall!!! Might try bleeding it first, as brakes have never been bled. Then look at seals/callipers - I dread to think how much they will cost! Went to the dealership the other week to buy a seal for the exhaust gas recirc valve - they can only do a whole manifold - jokers!

Car went for an MOT, it failed :( The front brakes were out of balance - +30% more braking on the passenger side. Front brakes were stripped and cleaned, sliders regreased etc, pads and discs were fine. During the re-test it failed again - this time with 26% difference (You are allowed an inbalance of 25%). When I looked at the machine it looked like less than 25% to me, they guy wouldn't have it though, pretty P'd off TBH What would be the next course of action? pads/discs replaced? Any ideas welcome

NNOOOOOOoooooo!!! LOL :D

MMmmm doesn't look right, seems to be some marks on the inside of the spring and on the coilover as well. Does the shocker clear the wheel when fully lowered? or is the scrub on the tyres?
-
Don't see anything here unique to the rado. Costs depends if you DIY or not. If you do your talking no more than £50

The rotor is held onto the hub with screws, unfornuately the only way you can change them is by removing the hub and destroying the bearing in the preocess. I am sure you can buy the rotors seperate, but you will have to bduget for new bearings as well

I wrote it down somewhere, think its just under a ton with VAT added. Picked one up for £50 from GSF (forgot to ask for Disc though Dohh!), its a GKN one, looks OK, as mentioned not as good Q as the original, then again I doubt there car will be around another 13 years LOL
-
LOL Sods law! No probs Rung VW - Part is on back order - Jokers.....Just gong to grab a GSF one and use the original boot as that looks like it has been replaced using OEM rubber at some point. Should be fun trying to get the bugger back on. Never have I got so covered in grease (OOooooo eerrrr) when working on the car as I have fannying arround with the CVs LOL

MMMmm intresting This is what is listed by VW: 22 191498103CX 191498103CX constant velocity joint with boot, attachment parts and grease constant velocity joint with boot, attachment parts and grease left inner left inner PG,KR,ABV, PG, KR, ABV, 2E,ADY,9A 2E, ADY, 9A (22) 357498103 X 357498103 X constant velocity joint with boot, attachment parts and grease constant velocity joint with boot, attachment parts and grease right inner right inner KR (22) 357498103 X 357498103 X constant velocity joint with boot, attachment parts and grease constant velocity joint with boot, attachment parts and grease right inner right inner F 50-K-006 793 F-50 K-006 793 PG,9A,ABV, PG, 9A, ABV, 2E,ADY,KR 2E, ADY, KR (22) 321498103CX 321498103CX constant velocity joint with boot, attachment parts and grease constant velocity joint with boot, attachment parts and grease right inner right inner F 50-K-006 794 F-50 K-006 794 PG,9A,ABV, PG, 9A, ABV, 2E,ADY,KR; 2E, ADY, KR; Seems like its the same part for all models excpet the right inner on the KR??? although part numbers are the same ???? Does anyone know how much VW sell there CVs for? Supercharged - what part number is your inner CV? Cheers

Whilst the cars apart I thought I would inspect my CVs, also needed to remove the inners to trasnfer to the syncro shafts. Long story short, the drivers side inner CV was fooked :(, the heat must have got to it and churned the grease into butter, seems like someone had repalced the boot at some time as well. Basically after removing the end clip the whole thing fell apart :( Morale of the story, once I have my new CVs on, think I will start checking the grease has not dried out etc, every few years, will be cheaper and less messy that repalcing the inner CV. Also with regards to GSF CVs: 43937K CV JOINT KIT-INNER LH CO 9/88 > 42.50 43938K CV JOINT KIT-INNER RH CO 9/88 > 45.00 Which of the above is the drivers side??? Cheers

Nope syncro maxes out at 300bhp, anything else and you will be on borrowed time. For big power consider haldex

Indeed, but the exuast is a CAT back system, and doesn't the 1.8 have a longer manifold and downpipe? Yep true. I believe the diameter of the pipes is the same. As for rubber hangers you can get universal ones so that they can hang off/on a bar or a hook type hanger.
