  1. Bit annoyed I was aiming to have it done for Ed38. Not having it ready really demotivated me. I do really want to turbo the 16v lump, but I will have to see what condition the engine internals are like. May have no choice but to go down the 20v turbo route, purely for cost reasons. What mileage was the lump out of your motor? mine has done 110,000, runs sweet tho.
  2. looking imaculate as the 1st time I saw it ! 8) was reading the DW thread....that is some crazy detailing!!!! results speak for themselves tho!
  3. 8) Damn! sometimes wish I'd just spent my pennies on a charged VR6! Must be an awsome drive mate.
  4. Nice work dude.....was planning to buy that turbo setup off azzturbo but he never got back to me!!!! Great to see valvers getting boosted as well!
  5. Few updates....... Was suppose to have been working on the motor today, but went to the pub instead. Doesn't look like much has been done.....but the welding was a biatch!!!!! so my mate did it, hes been into resto work for over 10+, so was a walk in the park for him!!!! so far, weld has been ground back, zinc primered, seam sealer'd, and will be hamerited, undesealed and waxoyld hopefully by the weekend. Have sanded the floor, and am also hoping to have that painted up by the weekend. Then can start re-fitting all the gubbins. Also after a rear strut brace, so if anyone has one for sale PM me. Needs to be trimsport or Weichers as 1st choice. Cheers
  6. Asked my mate, he said its only worth it if the impact force is above 180Nm, might take a look at lunch
  7. That's very true, but unfortunately I don't have one :( Dunno if they are any good, but netto are doing an electric 800w impact gun for £19.99 LOL
  8. I know the feeling of being broke well.... :( Missing Ed38 as I need evey penny to finish of the C. What mileage was your car showing? I was planning to rebuild my 9a and stick a turbo on as well, in two minds tho, heart says yes but wallet says just get a 20v turbo lump.... :D
  9. MMMmmm very nice :) My favourite wheels and favourite colour leather interior :)
  10. Just been reading your thread, quite a bit of work done!!! How was the motor running before you took it apart?
  11. Hardly chap.. making the TVR dash was just good training ;-) Hows yours coming? Is the 4wd in yet? Have 95% of the bits, been let down by some suppliers, take your money then make you wait weeks.... :( Have no cash for the other 5% of bits, tax or insurance and the MOT is due :( feeling de-motivated at the mo, so have been busy doing some gardening, to take my mind of it -
  12. Absolutely insane dude! You make it look so easy!
  13. Intresting, as the manufacturer ECP had listed for the rears was RUVILLE, as I understand from some of the BMW forums, RUVILLE and INA bearings are made by the same company and are OEM on BMW. Can't really lose if thats the case then. :D
  14. FYI - Thought I would share the joy..... Just purchased some rear bearings for the car, didn't want to go to ECP as I prefer to stay OEM. But when I enquired as to the brand was very surprised to find they are stocking FAG bearings. Needless to say I purchased 2! at a fraction of the price the dealer was charging (even with my 10% discount!).
  15. Add me to the count......almost done too (lost count of how many times I have said that - )
  16. Wow...thats loos cool 8) If you have leather that is cracked or scuffed can the kit still seal/repair it or does it require a retrim? Hows the MS wiring going?
  17. The you tube video doesn't seem to be working :(
  18. Haven't posted for a while, been on my hols (portugal) and been studying for an exam. Some pics.... Above pics are not the latest. Since they were taken I have done the hokey cokey with the floor (lost count the number of times it has been in and out) just to trim the rear edge perfect. So progress to date is: -chassis legs seam welded -Floor now in and tack welded, ready to be seam and plug welded (call me paranoid!) -purchased alu front and rear braces (which have gone missing!) -purchased goodridge hoses (C&R are the best) -purchased P/flex poly bushes -Built up the Spax RSX collies (old (old = -Rebuilt mk4 calipers new seals, boots etc -Rebuilt 280MM calipers new seals, boots etc sure I have done more can't remeber though....also picking up some more powder coated stuff and brake lines later today - so hopefully will have the whole rear axle built up this weekend. Don't know if I will get much done this weekend as Harry Potter fever has hit out household! :study:
  19. Always good to see another valver! Has all the right bits, she just needs some TLC......
  20. Very nice.....you don't mess about do you?? Love the colour! 8)
  21. Sounds about right, syncro stuff is primitive compared to haldex......not much electrics to it if any, only advantage being it is a hell of a lot easier to install than haldex. However haldex is the next evoloutionary step especially for large power/torque motors.
  22. To quote Pirelli: "Power is nothing without control" - LOL  Depends what you want 4x4 for really, I intend to have the syncro running with the stock 16v lump for some time before turbocharging. Before the conversion I regularly caned my valver arround the roundabouts here in MK (quite scary sometimes) so my primary goal is a big increase in traction in these condtions, this is why I have gone for lowered/uprated suspension, powerflex bushes and braces to compliment. PS before this the most work I had done on a car was changing oil, air filters and changing a tyre.
  23. Awsome attention to detail!!!
