  1. The bearings are made by the same manufacturer (LUK) and fit the same car (16V/G60 etc), yet they look and work very differently. Both are brand new From the pics: The one on the left is an almost exact copy of the OEM part, and came with a clutch kit The one on the lefts bearing face is the shiney centre section (bottom pic) The one on the rights bearing face is the whole outer grey casing (bottom pic) The one on the rights bearing face has a lot of play in it (bottom pic) Any thoughts or previous experience welcome. Instincts do tell me just to get an OEM one from VAG though.
  2. My 16v is exactly the same. The driver side driveshaft is not powder coated but is just shiny and has no rust on it?? mystery?? FYI I have a late(95) valver
  3. Thanks. With any luck be able to take you round for a spin soon :)
  4. Ultima chassis is coming in March, bought a new corrado project to turn around before then though.. will post something soon once I can clear the back log of work I'm doing for other people. Ben Cool...VR6? anything else must seem too slow! LOL
  5. Yep standard tunnel, also has several other syncro features. Makes you wonder if VW were planning to make Corrado Syncro???
  6. Thanks - not long too go now. Fitting your old VT mounts tonite :) Any updates on your new project?
  7. Just wondered if anyone knew how much in Kg the 16v lump & tranny weighed in at?
  8. Been a while, had a new arrival to the family (little Baby Boy 'Dylan') on December 19th so things have been hectic!!! Car has to take a back seat now, so drastic change of plans :( Was going to powder coat front end bits, get some brembos, drop in a bigger lump etc etc, this aint gonna happen now though. Plan for now is to use and install the bits I have, then work on power (engine) at a later date. So the 16v is going to be 4x4'd, then hopefully turbo'd or supercharged at later date when funds allow (famous last words) Got the manifold off today, came off nice and easy was dreading rounding any bolts as the last thing I wanted was to remove the head. Should be a bare lump in there by the weekend ready for the gearbox swap. In the meantime some WIP in progress pics: Tear down started..... Need to get this little lot installed.... ...and this connected up to something..LOL
  9. Here are some pics.....they speak for themselves, just covered in a bit of wax and dirt, I can say 100% that there is not one spot of rust on them!. Gave them a bit of a wipe last night and they clean up fine. Also included is a set of C spanners and I managed to find a set of slutted nuts that I never used. If your intrested please let me know asap. I did want to include P&P in the price but I need to check how much its going to be (in case its something stupid), else collection is always an option (I am in MK, nr M1 junc 13/14) Corrado92.pdf1.JPG[/attachment:2ovwn3nx] passat climatronic wiring diags.pdf2.JPG[/attachment:2ovwn3nx] climatronic wiring-Golf from May 01.pdf3.JPG[/attachment:2ovwn3nx] 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdf4.JPG[/attachment:2ovwn3nx] 5.JPG[/attachment:2ovwn3nx]
  10. I will get some pics up before I comment
  11. Reason is I have some, and I have used them once only. Know use Halfords ones which are rated the same but the difference in build is unbelieavble (only another £5) Also as you probably have encountered, when jacking the front end up, if you have the other side on a stand it has a tendency to walk (not good on something that is designed to fold and is only secured by a puny spilt pin.) My 2ps worth
  12. Rears are a piece of p*ss Fronts are easier than standard as you don't need a spring compressor - Pretty easy if you have the right tool, you will need slotted socket to tighten the spring caps, and when tightening the main nut (from the engine bay, you will need a socket set such as Halfords vortex etc. As you need to tighten the nut but keep the center still (using an allen key) at the same time)
  13. Would steer clear of those axle stands though...
  14. I can only compare to the statndard muck, but it was a 100% improvement. Peeps go on about the ride quality etc with coilovers but compared to the tired setup I had this was a massive improvement. fter installing the shcoks I also coated the threads with bike chain wax so there are no rusted or seized threads what so ever. All in all great shocks, if I didn't have to sell I would have defo kept them. In fact when replacing I treied to get a set of FK AKs to fit a Rallye or Syncro but FK don't make any :( I know they are only FKs budget coilovers but they do the job great. They have a very solid feel and build, I think the bumpstops are poly as well. Think there are very few people who will slate the FK AKs, unlike some of FKs more expensive setups.
  15. They are adjustable all round. Here is a pic of the actual shocks, before I installed them, will get some new pics up tonight (very late) 3.jpg[/attachment:1rta08nv]
  16. They have fixed damping, but are height adjustable. Will have some pics up soon, as I plan to remove them tonight. Not 100% but I think they are heaight adjustable up to either 60 or 90mm. here are some pics after I had just fitted the shocks: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=40635&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=15 Only managed 1k miles as I started my 4x4 conversion shortly after, and later leanred they wouldn't fit the 4x4 drivetrain Dohh!!! Like I said I will get some pics up ASAP.
  17. I have some FK AK Coilvers coming off in a day or two, only done 1k miles, no one spot of rust. Probabaly arround £200

    engine mounts

Would take it easy else you will end up with a dented bonnet. Mounts: 1.jpg[/attachment:21wzvvds] As for buying VW for OEM, or GSF/ECP for non OEM.
  19. Thanks Fellas. [strike:1pj94si4]Might just get a quote from the stealers, else GSF it is.[/strike:1pj94si4] Scratch that they want 31.28 + VAT for just the links
  20. Just went to ECP to pick up some drop links, they had completely the wrong ones. They insisted they were right though :( Does anyone know where to get hold of some drop links for a 2.0 16v Rado? In addition do the drop links com with all the washers and bolts? as the ECP oines didn't and they didn't even have the washers or bolts listed! Cheers
  21. Don't suppose there is any Tax or MOT on it?? LOL
  22. Cheers Might have to get the callipers out and measure up! 23mm seems very generous? LOL
  23. Wanted to order some Pflex front bushes, does anyone know what size front ARB the 2.0 16v has??? As I am stuck at work and can't go out and measure up :(
