  1. This is a job im wanting to dover the winter so quick questions. Which bushes did you use, do they come as a kit from VW and how much did they set you back and how many have you replaced? Hope you dont mind me being nosey.. Car looked cracking at E38, well worthy of your trophy...

    no sunroof!!!

Yes mate thats Judiths old storm as she got a new one, and an 8v which is probably rarer than a storm or a sunroofless Rado, shes just showing off... :)
  3. If VW did an R32 in the new Jetta i reckon that would be a contender, a previous shape Leon Cupra R, TT 3.2 quattro...
  4. Best ive had for the 330mile run home is around 36mpg, thats including some open throttle and steady but over a 5 hour non stop run thats failry decent and is better than i ever got from my previous valver.. My Golf tells lies im afraid, best ive had is around 14.5 although i get between 80 and 90 miles to a tenner...

    my vr6

    Looking nice, where you based?
  6. You could try some boiling water and some Megs APC.. The majority of those covers are a bit yellow..
  7. Looks cracking as ever Steve, even with the police on your tail...
  8. Theres a lad in Stanley i think called Turbomagic or something like that on here who has a tidy white VR with grey Recaros...
  9. Thats unlucky run you are having here mate.. Ive always wanted to run a white plate on the back of mine but feel that it is asking to be stopped. I know a lad who had been stopped for the same reason and the copper said if it had been yellow i would have let it go but white is just going too far.. Wheel clamping people are horrible. Many years ago i remember reading a bout a guy that had been clamped was able to remove it as they ahdnt fitted it correctly and he sent them a bill for storing the wheel clamp - thats justice..
  10. I love the noise, i want my car to sound and go like that but too keep going around corners the way it does...
  11. Thats awesome Shaun, there are so many of us whod love to be able to say that.. How long did you have it before you started modifying it??
  12. I particularly like the interior Kip, reckon you should bin the Rado and enter the Corolla Concours circuit... :)
  13. I think the way they have aged adds to the character of the car but i bet they were smooth when they were brand new..
  14. That looks standard to me, the slight difference is probably age, get it decked!!!
  15. Phone VW with the reg number and ask them what it is, they should be able to tell you.. Looks like a cracking car, keep it and tidy it, Mk1s are cool as a cucumber..
  16. My vote goes with removing the front end.. To remove the bumper there are 2x 17mm bolts i each chassis leg (will become apparent when you are under there). Youll need to unbolt you spoiler from the bumper which is about 10 bolts across the underneath. With the indicators (sprung loaded) and fogs (4 x philips screws) removed the bumper will slide off at this point. Once the headlights have gone (3 screws a piece) you can remove the slam panel, there are bolts - 2 on top 3 or 4 under the headlight and one in the engine bay under you air filter on one side and near the battery on the other and then the panel will come off (there are 2 at the bottom by the power steering cooling pipe).. This will give you a lot of access to the front end of the engine for the crack pipe, thermostat housing and other bits in that area.. May sound like a lot but it really isnt too bad, good opportunity to get in there and have a decent clean around..
  17. Take it to Jimmy, hes done one on that press car, it is a big job like. Theres a guide on how to do it step by step, probably a couple of days work, good way to get to know your car though, and save a fortune as the parts are cheap its just the labour that racks up..

    Worst Corrado

    Thats absolutely revolting...
  19. Yip, mine is going to bed at the end of this month as well, gutted but pleased at the same time... Will give me a chnace to get stuck into the car and mess about with the Golf..
  20. There must be another way around it mate..
  21. Rears are the metal arch, not ligned with anything. Is it catching on th arch lip?
  22. I think you know a man who can help...
  23. Front wheel arch liners are plastic...
  24. Check the carpet and see if its wet, itll give you an indication of where the water could be coming from if it is.. Other guesses are Matrix, door and boot seals, sunroof??
