  1. I'd be worried after six months if mine had not broken down once. I'd go to the doctors for a full check up or something. LOLOGRAM!!!!11 Rob you're a nutty one. How is your remapping and playing with gadgets going?[/quote:duh4pv0g] still having fun. The last thing I'd like to implement on the engine as it is,is knock control, and maybe emulate the g60 boost bleed off functionality using the isv. I want to start builing my 16vG now.Just ordered some parts from VW for the belt set up.I'm plodding along, thnks for asking. What voltage is your alternator charging the battery at on startup mate? Keep a voltmeter in the car next time it starts acting up measure the voltage across the battery terminals. I guess you may have done all this b4?!!

  3. Not easy to make a g60 bay look that good. :salute:
  4. There is no stem, is just screws straight into the block (and is also found on 1Z diesel engines in Passats and Audi 80s) It is an M8 bolt allen bolt that attaches it to the block and the part number is 028 109 244, should be around £31 inc VAT. That belt routing looks very similar to my set-up, only need to loose the swing arm, damper, swing arm pulley and that custom pulley at the top. Cheers Yan. I may be going in another direction now. yet another g6016v falling falling at the last hurdle. It's a bit of a unicorn this engine. Hopefully you will finish one of these rare and mythical beasts.
  5. :nono:  I think it will suit your current interest in engine tuning more than a 16vg60, you should get hours of fun out of your megasquirt box. Edited for peace keeping reasons on your thread. Don't want to mess it up with a turbo argument. You forgot to add cue junkie  Glad you are going turbo Rob if you are that is, i sincerely do hope you do mate, you honestly will not look back after its all done. Nothing wrong with superchargers though, so long as any engine has some way of ramming the air into the engine then im happy. What turbo you thinking of using, you decided on anything yet? Watching with interest. he-he here we all are again.Time for another round of mischief. :) Glad you asked Simon, There is Loooads of choice. I was thinking of a GT28RS or something of a similar ilk.Something that will spool quite quickly and get me in the high 200's 14 seconds to a 1/4 mile and a smile on my face. It will be 16v 2.0 litre and around 8.2:1 ish compression. tbh I am at the point where I don't want to be too concerned about what badge it has on it or what type of forced induction I am using,as long as I have the desired effect then I will be happy. I have never been very precious about my car,I love it to bits but I am not scared of doing almost anything to it if I think I will improve my driving experience. I have toyed with the idea of using a different car as a base but one look at my Corrado and I just can't do it.At least at the momment. Anyway what are peoples views on say using internal or external wastegates. I have read that internal ones are better suited for larger boost applications. An external wastegate is going to be cramping at the back of the bay though I would have thought especially as I have ABS?!?? Or am I talking pooh??? ta Robert.
  6. No I got my neighbour to move it. :camp: It was a bit smelly. He has been back since,I think its because my gf feed it. Yeah the cars running fine.Been driving around in it over the last few days with no probs.I don't want to spend too much more time on it tbh or else I will never move forward. Thinking about going 16vT now. :ignore:
  7. one signal(22),one return(23) apparently.
  8. pin 25 coil pin 24 not used on early cars, tach out to clocks on late cars like mine. pin 23 isv.
  9. Blowing would confuse the lambda, just because the prob is still there when u disco the lambda dosn't mean its not lamda related. wideband is a good idea but then thats money. It may be worth as said getting the car to a tuners so they can see how the car is fueling at part throttle. If that is - 0.7 bar then thats good. Looking at your guage it looks like it is in fact - 0.7 bar which is about 30 kpa, which is very good. No vac leak.
  10. Aye...Ya not wrong mate  Personally i think its over fueling on part throttle or ignition not advancing for some reason. Why? Well (before the red tops) without the wot switch taped up, it pops out of the TAILPIPE when gearing down, and throws the odd flame on gear change. When the WOT switch is taped up, it dosn't do that and runs like a different car. So there has to be unburnt fuel in the exhaust when the WOT switch etc is operating normally. Does this sound plausable? Over fuelling on part throttle? I really don't know what to do next, but i think its sensible to replace the system and then either have a live mapping/rolling road/wideband to at least try and see if it is running rich/lean/when/where/how! WHY! :bad-words: Neil. It will be easy to check if it is advancing, with a timing light. I'm still trying to work out your psi guage. It seems like a part throttle fueling problem we just have to work out what information to the ecu is bad. Still trying to work out what that -20 on your guage is. It won't be -20 psi...
  11. If it's blowing then I guess you should get it seen to b4 doing anything else. I can see leons point but its your car mate,if you want to soldier on then I'm sure people will chip in with advice as an when you need it. It has to be somethig silly. I can't see it being an engine fault as you have good compression and the car makes good power. frustrating. :|
  12. -20. ok what about the scale on the guage. Is in in kpa, mbar ?
  13. engine bay is for specific engine probs is all.One of the mods wll probably move this. :hitler: Biggest thing for this car is charger history. Do you kow if it has ever been serviced? If not then you will want to think about throwing some money in that general direction. :salute:
  14. Hi mate. Have you actually got a specific running issue with the car? You should start a members thread with pics n stuff so we can see the new arrival. welcome btw.
  15. Seems my stress testing has stressed the engine. :) Oil was weeping out of spark whole number one and when I took the ead off oil was creeping into this cylinder. There was also a little oily scum in the coolant tank. The car had one of the old type cork head gaskets so I have replaced it with a nice new metal one.(Thnks CTWG0) All up and running now. Tired. :gag:
  16. When you changed the ecu I take it it was the whole ecu and not just chip? Have you got the carbon canister setup? Have you got a vacuum guage? How much vacuum does the car hold at idle ? Some boost guages show vacuum too. It would be nice to see what happened when you blip the throttle vacuum wise.
  17. Isv is controlled by the ecu. The problem sounds ISV related to me or at least the control of. Sorry thats all I can suggest.
  18. petrol head heaven. Thnks for sharing looks like you had a great time.
  19. what happens if you disconnect the isv connector and then start it ?
  20. These cars are not aimed at petrol heads or car enthusiasts. They are aimed a Mr and Mrs Joe Bloggs who want a reliable and sturdy family car with a bit of go. Room for the kids and the shopping and space for the golf clubs. I think they will be pleased.
