  2. went and watched a bit of this at smeatharpe near taunton yesterday,, got a ride out in my mates Talbot sunbeam was excellent fun,, as you say though you would want a cheap old car to do this sort of thing in as it is a clutch gearbox and tyre killer,,

  6. there are some nuts on the inside too 8) in teh same locations as the ones in the engine bay
  7. its a 268 cam :wink: with similar lift to my kent cam,, thats why i bought the kent,, as it has a duration in between the two to keep the powerband within the revs i`m using but lots of valve lift to ensure my big valve head is working nicely,, may upgrade to a 268-276 oneday though,,
  8. doesent sound like a fuel pressure issue, however set the control pressure to 48psi at idle when warm with a gauge,, sounds like idle control unit,, although you have tried it,, what are the temp sender connections like on the side of the head also,,
  9. Piper 270 is infact a 260 Duration cam,,,
  10. I am using a Kent GS3 H G60 cam,, 266 duration 11.16mm of lift,, seems to work well

  15. doesent seem to be anthing according to the wiring diagram,, although i know the golfs with the hazard warning switch on the steering column are wired differently to the older models,, not covered in the haynes,, grrrrr any suggestions greatly appreciated as i am really banging my head against a wall with this one,,
  16. yeap that way you dont need to spend out before you are 100% sure,, seen some new Dizzys on ebay every now and again for about £50
  17. Hall sender on a 16v G60 is part of the distributor,, change the dizzy i would,,
  18. right this is a strange one,, car is a 1990 mk2 golf gti 8v,, (later model with the hazard warning button on the steering column) every now and again the fuse pump fuse will blow,, particularly when the car has been running for a while,, when this happens eevrytimne ytou replace the fuse it will instantly blow, until you leave teh car for a few hours and then you can replace the fuse and drive as normal,, when the car is experiencing the fault i have disconnected both ethe pumps and replaced teh fuse and it still blows,, so we can rule the fuel pumps out of the equation,, thought it may be the fuel pump relay doing something weird when it gets hot,, changed that and still the same,, something must be going to ground for teh fuse to blow when the car gets hot,, also another thing,, when the car is running and you pull out the fuel pump fuse the gar stutters then dies as it runs out of fuel as you would expect it to,, but when the fault occurs the fuse bvlows and the car dies instantly,, which makes it seem that something non fuel related is causing the short,, really scratching my head with this one,, any help or suggestions much appreciated,,, :D

  22. received my sump on friday as promised,, IT IS AWESOME!!! gonna couple this up with a windage tray and will have the best non dry sump oil control system money can buy,,
