So glad that a solution to this is in the offing. Happy to make a purchase whenever they’re available. Seriously, without those that go the extra mile(s) to make this kind of thing happen, our cars and our enthusiasm would be poorer for it. Kudos to you all.
  2. Funny story about that car. About 18 years ago (after not buying a friends 964 in the same colour) I decided I was buying a 968 (The 964 was £13k and a 968 (Aventura green, ex-Dick Lovett ) was about £11k) Did all the homework, and test drove a couple. Did what I usually do and end up talking myself out of it.. Fast forward ten years and Oscar and I are in Formby, doing ( what would become ) our regular trip to the baths, followed by a packed lunch and walk over the sands. The pull of a 968 had never left me, but having the Campaign in a thousand pieces reminded me that one was out of the question. Anyway, there we are in Waitrose car park about to park up and nip in for some sustenance , when I spot a 968. Eyes illuminated, I decide to park nearby and have closer look. Smiling from ear to ear I walked away having been elated to see a 968. I mean it was rough, like used every day for every duty and bits hanging off it rough. But clearly a trust worthy companion. Came back out, in the hope I may catch the owner for a chat, but alas the car was gone. Fast forward a year or so and we’re back in Waitrose car park. What’s there again … yep you guessed it, the 968. Cushions on the seats and mileage that suggested Neil Armstrong had once owned it, I started to feel sorry for it. It was in a similar condition to when I got the Campaign, ready to be broken and whoever had owned it last had all of the value from it. At that point I thought, sack it. I’m leaving my number on the screen and opening up “dibs” on it. Didn’t have a pen, so after procuring lunch, wrote my number on some paper and headed back outside. To see it pootling off and out of the car park at a gentle pace. Probably the best scenario if I’m honest. And I’m not upset, but would have loved to have spoken to the owner about when, where, how and all that. And then out of the blue, over Christmas I’m at home seeing where 968s are (financially speaking). And there it is, looking all of its age and mileage still. Would I like to tick the 968 box ? Yes, sure. Would I be willing to restore another 90’s coupe ? Not a chance. That’s for the next person.
  3. Close. The campaign has “Monte Carlo” as standard. “Brands hatch” were standard spec in Canada but an option elsewhere. I’d keep them. Adds OE appeal. Nice looking car. Always happy to see another heading north 🙂.
  4. Saw a you tube video recently, where a chap bought a Q5 with suspension failing to hold air. 4k at Audi. He fixed it for personal time plus a few hundred quid. So long as people roll their cars onto the forecourts and bend over, gougers’ll keep gougin’.
  5. Glad I’m not the only one with eyes wide open. Mate finally got his company Mustang. Night and day between his and my old bones. But 350 miles range in summer and 250 in winter. That’s some old mileage swing. Same with capability. I live in a small village with ups and downs (geographically). During the cold icy snap we had over xmas, neighbours with Teslas either knew the (very limited) capability of their cars, or had to abandon them at the foot of a small incline. Listen, I’m a technology guy. But I’m not sure if we’re moving forward (socially and physically).
  6. As per title: Momo boss (8010) for Corrado. Guess it's the kind of thing that get's removed and stuffed in a box, never to see daylight again. Wouldn't mind another as it's easier to remove one central bolt then the half dozen on the boss. Price would need to be delivered to Lancashire. Thanks for getting dusty on my behalf in advance 🙂
  7. They are, and thanks. That’s kind of what I’m leaning towards, and pretty much what I plan to do. Finish off over winter and UK tour 2023. Trouble is, there’s a wedding, house extension an building a house planned for the same year. I’m zen about it though, and if the year comes and goes than that’s okay. I did have VW classic get in touch to have the car shown at Techno Classica in Essen, but it’s usually around April time, so would probably have to be 2024 if this were to happen.
  8. If it’s early, I imagine you’re asking about the lower strip/clip that allows the vent to move side to side simultaneously ? Yes, someone did 3D print them, but not seen them for a while. Maybe give James at Corrado Graveyard a shout ? Bet he’s got loads.

    Black sun visors

Campaign one from the factory is black. Same as all the others in design, texture though. It must have come from something in the VAG stable, but I’m damned if I know.
  10. Wouldn’t have thought so, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. The question was not specifically geared towards the Campaign per-say. But certainly brings to light the obstacles of marketing such vehicles. The weak pound does make sense to market abroad though. I’m just mulling over throwing all the keys in next year. There’s the Campaign, a low milage Z3 and the 8v (which as unfashionable as they are within Corrado world, is still rarer than a Storm 🙂). I guess each car has to be judged on its own merits and marketed accordingly.
  11. Thanks. Hmm, food for thought then. And clearly not as cut and shut as I’d have hoped. Hoping to enjoy the car next year as much as possible and have an exit strategy as autumn arrives. Will have a look at silverstone when the time comes. Anyone have any low mileage clocks going spare ? He he 🫢

That looks great. Kudos for the ground work and the help to others.
  13. Anyone have first hand experience of selling at auction. Who’s good/ bad etc. Pitfalls, advantages ? They seem to be the places to reach top money and those with collections (eg: people who tend to be too busy/un-interested in crawling around a car with torch on wet Saturday afternoon). Asking for a friend 🙂

    Black sun visors

Here’s the visors on mine. Looks like they’ve been sewn as a pocket and slip stitched along the upper edge. One of the hinges is a bit stiff and holds itself off the roof liner, which is frustrating. It’ll have to stay that way though, as I’m not likely to find one in a breakers yard 🙂.

Great news. Look forward to the prototypes 😎
  16. Certainly points to lots of small journeys. Wear is similar to mine, but 155k between them 😳. I think auction is where it’s at for this though. General sale is nothing short of a gruel at best, and auctions seem to be bringing the highest results at the moment. I’d like to see underneath though.
  17. So what’s the plan with the engine ? Clean and re-install or a deeper dive ?
  18. Nice work 😎. The blue really pops in the light. Just be careful with those bolts, they can spin the captive nut in the radiator, and then you’re in trouble. Personally, I’d clean them up in situ.

On the Campaign, the trim shop at Karmann created a simple sleeve (in a silmilar way to goldfinger describes) using the same headlining material and stitched them along the top edge. Painting the grey brackets and connectors black in the process. You can still feel the light and vanity mirror underneath. I can put a picture up if you like, but it’s pretty basic.

Good show. Just knew there’d someone either crossing or about to cross that bridge. Yes, keep us updated please. Anyone have a spare one of the above, feel free to get in touch.

Getting the VR ready for an MOT and found the linkage baggier than a clowns pocket (bushes on the lower bar are heavily worn - see image). Anyone worked/working on a solution ? Or have anything NOS they would move on ?
  22. I’ve had the light clusters out and that all seems good. Just returned from the garage, where it appears the brake pedal was short of engaging with the switch (probably from when I removed the servo waaaay back). After half an hour of being folded up in the footwell the battery drain has been cured. It reads 0.09 m/a. Is it safe to assume that number is within spec ? Fuel pump relay still clicks when ignition is on and brakes/wipers/lights are operated though 🤔
  23. Yesterday I had 30 minutes before tea to have another look at the issue. The battery was literally counting down when hooked up and the multimeter. So I pulled all the fuses out and re-installed them one by one. All were tickety-boo and not showing a draw. Until I got to the brake switch fuse. Completing the line up and leaving the brake switch fuse vacant showed a stable multimeter reading. I’m going to have another stab at reading the wiring diagram in Bentley and hopefully locate the issue. As an aside, the brake lights don’t stay on all the time, which to me would suggest a faulty switch ? And would suggest a wiring issue ??
  24. Ah that’s the puppy. Always thought they sat on the front of the block. Maybe it’s a early vs late thing. Or maybe it’s a me vs a logical thing. The jury’s out. The images help a great deal. Thanks all the same.
  25. It’s the group of earths connected in a block of three. I think it should sit north of the oil cooler, but below the intake manifold.
