I don't think there is a fan control unit, I never found one though I didn't search too hard. As far as I'm aware there are the run on sensor on the front of the engine above the alternator(Brass thingy with one terminal), The sender at the bottom of the radiator an the radiator plug itself. You can test the run on sensor by disconnecting it when the fan is runniing and the ignition off by simply disconnecting the wire. The fan should stop. Don't know how it does it but this electricity stuff is new to me. Maybe someone with a bit more knowledge than me will have a better idea.

There is the plug on the fan unit itself and there is a plug at the bottom of the radiator. It was the one at the bottom of the radiator that was causing the problem. Might be worth looking at the wiring for them both as it' will be a bit brittle and aged by now.

I had a similar problem on mine. The fan running on turned out to be corrosion and crap in the plug at the bottom of the radiator. A thorough cleaning cleaned it out. I also had the battery drain bit as well and tracked it down by pulling fuses, from my old post on the solution " I connected a 21w indicator bulb between the battery + terminal and clamp and it lit up like Blackpool Illuminations. I made the test lamp lead long enough to reach into the car so it provided some light until I found the fuse that protected the offending circuit, it was the "Let's hide a fuse where no-one can find it" one at the top of the fusebox above the relays. I started by disconnecting components until eventually the light went out again, well fell to a dim red glow which is about normal. Typically it was the last thing I disconnected having started with the driver's door." Hope this is of some help.

That would be about right. First one I've seen in ages, made me rather nostalgic.

Posted this in the wrong thread. How the Allegro was supposed to look before the corporate suits got involved. http://www.aronline.co.uk/blogs/conc...ustin-allegro/

Is there not a vibration damper on one of the driveshafts? This can come loose over time and move along the shaft. Might be worth a look.

Thanks guys. The screen is clear and not yellowed, looks like it has been replaced recently. It' just that when it rains the drops just lie on the plastic making visibility poor. At night about town it's like driving with a demented kaleidoscope behind you with the reflections. I see from the link above Rain X now have a plastic screen version so I'll give that a go. Suppose that's what I get for living in Scotland and buying a convertible. Wullie

I reassembled the complete thing before refitting to the instrument panel, black part as well. Bulbs into beige part, clip on the black cover and then install onto the panel.

They are polarity sensitive, one leg has a kink in it to help get them the right way round. You could compare the kink to the other bulbs in the strip. You could also use one of the other bulbs to check you are getting current and it's not the bulb that's at fault. I had a green bulb in mine for a while till found where I had put the blue one. (Put in a safe place where I would remember where it was) Kind of try and repeat till you get there.

Not for a Corrado unfortunately but I know someone on the forum can give me an answer. The plastic rear screen on the car is crap in the rain, the drops just build up on it and makes it useless. Does anyone know of a Rain X type product that will work on a plastic screen? Rain X itself is not suitable for plastics.

It is held in with a clip at either end 5of 2th5e bei20ebit.If you look at the image you will see what I mean. Push them in as you remove it and it should come free.

I took the beige and black parts out as one unit then separated them afterward. The bulbs have to be connected the right way and have one leg with a bend in it to assist this. I reassembled the unit and replaced it as a whole. The bulbs/diode thingys I had lying about, I had picked them up on a visit to a scrapyard at some point. Maybe Maplins or someplace like that could help.

This is what they look like when unclipped from the panel. Maybe help.

Not sure where you could get them from, possibly VW. I had some kicking about. The blue one was actually a smaller white one with a blue cap over it. se a screwdriver with a magnetic tip though while you are doing it, you don't want to drop a screw down the dash. Wullie

My heart, now it's gone.

It won't help everyone but when I had a car off road over the winter I swapped the battery with the one for the daily once a month. Only takes ten minutes and seems to keep the batteries active and last a lot longer than just sitting in the car with the occasional charge.

Not got one but you could try here http://www.humidorsonline.co.uk/empty-cigar-boxes-c-321_548.html It's an interesting project I have contemplated before but never actually got round to. Maybe when the weather gets better and I won't freeze my butt off in the shed.

Wishing everyone a very merry Christmas, Seasons Greetings and all the other things you say at this time of the year. Just remember not too eat too much or overindulge in alcoholic beverages and a bit of exercise will not go amiss. Who am I kidding? Eat, drink and be very merry, lazily. Merry Christmas one and all.

I need a new keyboard! Just drooled all over this one. -
As the OP has only recently bought a VR6 I would hazard a guess at a VR6.
