  1. Naw, she who thinks she is obeyed is a wee bit ****ed off with me. I'm a bit past rolling about on the drive in all weathers trying to keep up with it's foibles and being retired means money get's a bit tight. However it has gone to a good home. The new owner has been pestering me for ages so I just made the decision and did the foul deed. I was going to just give him it but he insisted on giving me some dosh. I've just had a horrible thought. I'll have to drive that mobile jelly of a Picasso!!!!
  2. Watched the Corrado leave the street with it's new owner in the driving seat. Tonight will be an evening of alcoholic consolation juice.
  3. I don't get all this phone stuff, especially the Apple bit where they basically tie you into their system for an extortionate amount of money. I bought a sim free Huawei a few years ago which seems to do all the things friends super expensive phones do. Be sensible and get the V6 4mo. But you really don't need me to tell you that.
  4. I find a lot of the stuff getting bandied about both humorous and disturbing. "Scotland will be unable to defend itself against alien invasions or asteroids". Scottish people are not genetically programmed to run their own affairs". Whit? The divisive bile that gets gets spouted. The Daily Mail front page in Scotland had the headline "Don't rip apart our UK family." The non Scottish edition had "Why don't we tell the Scot's to shove off." That kind of bull**** doesn't help anyone and only inflames the rabid minority on both sides. Nah, keep it off the forum, I've got loads of friends down south and on here and don't want stupid arguments inflamed by misleading propaganda from any side changing that. I'm me. I will not turn into a blue painted kilted child eater overnight. I'll still be the same ant hating wine sipping Corrado owner I have always been.
  5. Mine hit 200,000 recently. I had to fake a breakdown on the motorway for the minute it took to take a picture. It's not sad at all, just excessive lovin'.
  6. Well that's me told. I was looking at the other items in the original link ( http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...d=170590691722 ) and the repair kit for the Corrado's looked identical to the ones shown for the Passat handles.
  7. Am I being thick here or would Daves16v door handle kit not do the same?
  8. Ah well, I'll stick to drinking red wine while squirting them with bleach. May try the sugar cube route as a method of localising them.
  9. Are they suitable for ants? The wee bu**ers are back again.
  10. It took a bit of thought before I typed that. It was not a bad car though, if you could ignore the clattery engine and that it was soluble in water. Not a good point given the average Scottish weather.
  11. I had a Talbot Horizon which had an oil level indicator light on the dash. The dipstick had an element built into it which reacted when the oil level dropped below it allowing it to heat up. Doesn't seem a great leap from there to what you suggest Kev.
  12. Lift the bonnet and get someone to watch the engine. With the handbrake on and the engine running, put it in gear and lift the clutch. You will be able to see the engine lift in the bay if the mounting is shot.
  13. Possible blown gasket around the manifold?
  14. It can be done with the engine out. The problems arise in keeping the crank stationary while putting pressure on the bolt. You can get bolt on gizmos to lock the flywheel if the gearbox is off.
  15. Wee tip for dealing with really tight bolts like this bugger. Get an extension bar that will extend from the bolt to outside the wheel arch. Put the socket on the bolt then but a jack under the outside end to support it and adjust the jack so the extension bar is level. Now apply pressure downwards to undo the nut. This setup allows you to apply a lot more force as it ensures everything stays in line and that the socket will not twist off the bolt as it would if unsupported.
  16. Thank God for that, I was beginning to panic.
  17. Cake and Risotto???? Whtat the???? Why no HAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Is the tin dustcover fitted to the bellhousing? I've had that touching the flywheel as it was slightly bent. Screamed like a banshee..
  19. Full set of Irwins here as well if you need them. As for soaking with WD40 I usually spray loads of the stuff on the bolts, wrap/pack old strips of dish towel around the bolts, soak that with the WD40 as well and cover it with polythene or carrier bags. That stops the WD40 from evaporating as quickly and gives it more time to penetrate. Must stop posting while ****ed

  21. Got the reg no stuck on my ashtray. I'll keep an eye out in the Paisley area.
  22. Tanks for the replies. It was not a Corrado specific question, mine doesn't need one anyway, more of a settle an argument question. Basically, in a perfectly roadworthy car would the removal of the cat invalidate the insurance?
  23. General car chat in the pub at the weekend led to declaring modifications to the insurance company. It then took a twist that has got everyone at each others throats. If you remove the cat from your car and are involved in an accident can the insurance company refuse to pay out as your caris not roadworthy inasmuch as it will fail an MOT. I don’t imagine anyone would declare decatting as a modification totheir car so what is the position? Insurance payout or insurance refusal?
  24. Then they killed Kenny!!! OMG!!!!
