timely, have been looking at this problem on mine.
i changed the yellow temp sender and the auxhillary pump last weekend, as i didn't trust the 65 - 70 deg water temps and the pump was making a racket anyway, pump now quiet but still have very low temps, but thermostat only opens at 80 degs according to IR thermometer so its not a low temp one
what still doesn't happen is the auxhillary pump and rad fan overrunning for ten mins after ignition off, which i understand is controlled firstly by the yellow sender and then by the fan relays - so am guessing its a diode problem as above, had a quick look/shake tonight but there's no rattle from it
iirc the aux pump is used to transmit heat from the exhaust side of the manifold to the heater matrix to prevent hot spots/ head warp
now have inspiration to unseal and cut open the unit :)

Bwahahaha! And the item you bought wasn't bad either ;)Thanks dude :)
 don't suppose you have a working fan control unit for a vr6 do you?

-
yeh am tempted by 16" speedline tooooo
also giving serious thought to painting my old pitted ones in gunmetal grey - i have black paint 8)

Assume you use the existing airbox clips onto those metal plates, but never had one and not even 60% sure :)
You may need to have a fiddle, offer it up etc.
Or wait till someone who knows what they're on about shows up!

second picture, but reversed, ie underneath the aribox cover/ metering head

afaik if there is a wiper there the blade has to be in working order but if ther eisnt anything there its NOT a failure!cheers guys, i think ill just bluff it at the MOT... "nah mate, them rados never came with rear wipers" :D

The point I was making was the chap in question had no say in the cost of the repair because it was done through his insurance, and so slagging him off as having "money to burn and/or little sense" as if he'd just agreed to the repair without an idea of cost was fairly pointless.ok completely wrong accusation which I'll ignore once but not twice.
my criticism is he was prepared to get it repaired without first getting an indication of cost, at that stage the cost of the repair was not being pursued through his insurance - from the thread...
When the accident happened i called my dealer and asked them to collect the car and told them i would just pay for it without putting it through my insurance.
Then i found out the total cost of the repairs.
so, my criticism is not exactly pointless as he's prepared to do exactly what you suggest he didn't
that's all from me on this thread :salute:

I think the current format as a whole has had its day and they should seriously consider quiting whilst they're ahead. I don't want to see the day when it gets so boring and predictable I can't be bothered to watch anymore. That's how I'm starting to feel. The odd episode has me in stitches but they're getting fewer with each series.i'll second that, the guys have great rapport when they're just chatting or out on their trips, but the links seem to be a little over prepared with little spark, the bit where they all did the comedy 'ignore the electric car as it rolls down the hill' was akin to you've been framed - very hammy
that said, the slow mo crash had me in stitches though
-
just emptied it out ....so emotional, i know i'll want another one day.......i couldnt even sleep last night.man you sound like you'll definitely be back for more :D
-
read through the thread and really liking the way you have it looking, you pretty much have everything on your list which i want done too, and as said above the difference in stance is night and day in those pics - looks really good
look forward to hearing what you think when you get the engine work done with shrick, cams and remap
last thing, are rear wiper an mot requirement? Norn Iron has a government run mot test centres so a little more stringent than rest of uk?
-
never had one, but from the look of them i assume they either sit underneath the existing air box lid or replace the airbox completely
your parts arrive yet?
-
was it a trade for a wife, or were you getting married anyway
seriously, always sad to see em go, esp when you put the effort in you had
-
drained coolant and flushed, changed yellow temp sender, replaced the auxhillary water pump and changed the radiator switch for a low temp jobby, refilled system and went for a blast :D
LOADS quieter in the cab with the pump changed, old one was making a racket through the matrix, reassuring whir from the fan at 87degs too
-
quickly did a section of clay on the front bonnet  omg what a difference, never used clay before
-
i like the look on modern cars, but would be too much a mish mash of eras and as such a no-no imo for a rado
-
brilliant

am getting a bit confused - the brass inserts can be unscrewed from the manifold, the plastic sleeves clip onto the top of the brass inserts, or if disconnected they can be pushed backwards out the manifold?!
