mucho better :D
-
price range depends upon what model your looking for?
there's plenty of corrados still chugging around on 150k - 200k, i wouldn't worry about it too much provided they have the typical issues dealt with, besides some cosmetic/ electrical issues they're all pretty sound mechanically
every purchase is a risk, you may get lucky and have a beaut, you may buy a dog, try not to analyse it too much and go for a car you really like :luvlove: rather than one which you don't just because it appears more reliable, as you're more likely to put up with a car you like thats dodgy :D
confused  ?
-
the government would never introduce/ enforce this, the loss in taxable profits and VAT accross the modifying market would be huge, just think about how much each of us has forked out in modified parts over the years, not to mention the loss of jobs, and reduction in disposable income etc, imo it would not be offset by the tax gains for the newer cars, especially when gordo gives the 'instant gratification brigade' £2k of mine and yours hard earned tax for a new car... :bad-words:
and just imagine all those chavs who rass round in modified corsa or granada's, they'rd now be 20 more standing outside your local tesco metro
like most good things governments ban, it would just drive it underground
as an aside, the sooner that moron gets chucked through that black door the better
-
no, they're unlikely to pursue a sale which doesn't meet their stated reserve level
i thought once you bid, and were subsequently winning that was a committment to buy until/ if outbid, i didn't think you could withdraw - i'm probably wrong
-
probably not worth worrying about if a) auction doesn't end for a while b) you didn't place a very high bid :D
-
you're not legally screwed, you might be financially tho
-
if you mean the cam gears then you need a 'gear puller' a tripod with hooked ends and a screw in the middle, you'll need a hydraulic press to put them back on
why'd you want to do that anyway?
-
serious skills your man has, but looks deadly.... and i mean literally!
-
yeh you'll get all of that alright, its just a question of whether it all works or not :D
-
similar but different systems, the 9a fuel lines i have *look* like what i remember the kr ones looking like :)
i'd have thought you could use the fuel lines at least
-
haha yeh know the feeling :D often get excited taking stuff apart
seriously this aint a major issue tho, will be in your haynes, plus do a search on here as i remember a similar thread not long ago
you'll find timing marks on;
- the cam gears, two circles to face each other lined up with top edge of cylinder head with rocker cover removed
- cam pulley, internal mark level with cylinder head as gear, external one vertical to match diamond on rocker cover at 12 oclock
- crank pulley notched to meet mark at 12 oclock
- flywheel line mark which you can see through the gearbox bell housing.
all good stuff :D
-
you'll just need to line the timing marks up again, no biggy best to check all the timing marks when rebuilding anyway :D
and give the radiator a shake/ tip it upside down etc when flushing too
-
it covers the kr 16v, and also variants of the 8 valve
it's a red cover with a golf on the front
-
dangerous request as there's loads you can do :D
easy stuff like cleaning the block, taking the sump off and cleaning, draining and flushing coolant
harder stuff like stripping and cleaning water pump, oil cooler, new filter, breather assembly, coolant pipes
harder still checking crank and shell bearings, oil pump, end float :)
get urself a 16v haynes, even if a 2ltr would provide a good guide....
-
top notch looking valver there cazza, wheels look immaculate, you have those refurbed then?
-
/\ yeh i got post frenzy and didn't read it proper :D
good excuse to post a pic tho :luvlove:
-
i bought one of here, they come up regular
there's a few come up on the bay also
-
boooootifull....
-
they're a proper classic, do a google image search and you'll probably recognise
-
should think its because it will interfere with the steering column on a rhd, the single piece TSR ones get very close
-
... kinda hoping to get something for it too :D
£15 inc postage?!
-
good work, all plain sailing from here :D
-
true the repair would have to be perfect, but nearly all the pressure is on the top retaining cap so you might get away with it yet
need to check the tappet recess for deformation too, that'd be a harder fix, fingers crossed eh
-
if you need a complete second hand 9a dizzy assembly i have one sitting in the garage which i won't need...
photos can be posted no bother
