what did you end up getting dude ????ending up going back to a vr, gets delivered monday, was looking for a decent 1.8 valver for 6 months and nothing came up close enough for me, pity as i have a stripped and overbored 9a sitting painted in the garage!
re more power for the valvers do some searching on here, a few options - 2ltr bottom end, wilder cams either shrick or even a modded exhaust cam used as an inlet, gasflowed or fully ported and polished head, and a four branch manifold unfortunately eeecking the last bit of power out of valvers doesn't come cheap
-
another great thread ressurection :D looks nice
-
yeh definitely get it scanned & posted
they did one for the sunday papers a few years back, best 100 cars of all time sort of thing, came in mid 40's iirc
-
yeh they've always had a soft spot for vw's super coupe :)
what position did it come in at?
-
i reckon it would look fine if the bolt is colour coded, black on black will hardly be noticeable i reckon

:D

nice one dude :salute:

I reckon some sellers price it with view to getting the car moved on relatively quickly, and put it in at a tempting price.agree with that, personal circumstances and ease of sale play a huge part for the vendor, other people just wear rose tinted specs and expect the world when overpricing, for those the day counter thing on PH adverts speak for them
i myself just picked up a vr for £1500, which seems cheap, but it has bodywork, the usual sunroof, spoiler and central locking issues - all fixable for £500 (i hope :) ) but will also need a major service soon, but as it won't be a daily i'll have the opportunity to take my time and sort it all myself, so all in all i feel i got a fair deal for a sub 100k car, that said i can perfectly understand someone paying £2k more to get a completely sorted one, and still think they got a good deal

piccy's of injector lines, 3rd nut is solid, but could simply screw injector outside of manifold
-
good work, looks like an early bonnet to me too
-
sure let me know, would only be looking a tenner plus a couple of quid postage
their clean and were sanded shiny, can get piccy's tomorrow if your interested
-
16v fuel pumps deliver about 70psi :) you'll definitely need a regulator
-
yeh if you think its tht bad... if you need i will have a set of 9a lines for sale now that i'm not building the valver engine anymore :(
-
to the person that thought it was on piston heads you were right (think its still on there as it goes )yeh it is, was close to contacting you about it, not had much to look at round this way - but i'm all sorted now :D
-
hey no bother, that's what the forum is all about :D
lack of power is more likely to be timing, the lines would have to be seriously twisted to create a pressure drop which would prevent the injector spraying, but ifthey were then yeah - you'd be a cylinder down, or running lean which burns hotter
-
will cause flat out poor running & low performance, as incorrect intake, compression and exhaust valve timing in relation to piston cycle - overheating not sure, normally that's more a fuel issue
-
old age caused it to shear, and yeh bad timing cos of it :D
-
only the cam gears have woodruff keys, the belt pulley should have a notch on the inner side
-
-
the black ones are bigger?
-
NICE valver there mate really like the painted sebrings, works well with the paint, sure i saw this on pistonheads recently?
-
hmmm that's the exact nr that came of the box that both bearings came in, i had to replace both too?!
-
keep the rado, that might be a nice example and white is certainly shade of the month at the moment, but it's just another mkII golf with a vr in the bin
-
shaun put it a lot better than i did :D
anyone who wants evidence why this scheme won't stimulate didly squat only has to look at Germany, their own scheme ended last month.... new car sales back to frig all
in the interests of re-election gordo the moron is applying sticking plasters to gaping wounds, the sooner we take the pain and pay the debt the sooner we'll be clear of this mess :brickwall:

fill ur boots at the stickied 'forced induction 16v' thread, loads of info :salute:
