brilliant work, great to see someone doing something different, really keen to see this one develop :salute:
-
brilliant, sounds like a standard first few weeks of corrado ownership :D
had a miltek on my old valver, great exhaust, nice and subdued and great build quality imo
-
i did this to my old 16v and it definitely makes it sound beefier, however understanding induction design better now i wouldn't do it again, as you have to ask yourself why does it sound beefier :D
-
hey liking the lights, could you take a pic from further away as am tempted to do this to my black vr :salute:
-
started dismantling the spoiler mecahnism to both fault find and clean it.... pics and how to will follow :D

mate i've said what i *think* your problem is on your other thread, the increase from 1.8 to 2ltr by VW was to address stricter emissions regs which would have caused a loss of power to the 1.8... so the fact you've gone from 2ltr to 1.8 whilst keeping the motronic has lost you power straight out the bag - despite all the various mods you have i suspect you are simply fighting against the lambda/ motronic
firstly i'd seriously consider swapping back to 2ltr with all your bits attached, i'd then think about standalone management with carbs or otherwise - the latter ain't cheap :(
-
Not sure what you lot are on about - the toque figure is low - surely should be more like 250Nm peak on a VR, remember it's Nm we're talking not Ft lbs!dead on, units weren't quoted in the original post :salute:
max torque 223.40 -
looking really good, cant wait to see how arches turn out
what do you call those curved lumpy metal things your using? could an amateur have a fair crack at doing this ?
-
only just got the car but noticed a droning noise so took rear wheels off, had a poke around and found need new discs, pads, calipers, and disc cover, so those and the bearings will get ordered in the week and seen to next weekend, filed the edges of the discs in the meantime to lessen the droning noise
also had a good nosey round for rust, little bit round the filler cap, little spot on one arch, drivers door and rear quarter seam - beside that really good - well pleased :D
oh yeh, pretty sure i need a new auxhillary pump and thermostat too...
-
BIG thanks to Mand for the VR i just bought of him, started with an honest advert pointing out various issues with the car, followed by a decent set of photos following a cleanup, following a chat on the phone was happy to make the purchase :salute:
despite my courier being a little poor on the comms front, he was also flexible with that. Top Man cheers :D
-
crikey yeh high torque  good result, no wonder you're pleased with that
-
there goes another £40 :)
-
pressure is created by the restriction not the pump, i think stuart is just saying the OM pump won't be recirculating and therefore the pump overworks and fails, could be entirely wrong
the 1.5 seat dizzy does have the vacuum advance weights, discussing with henny on a different thread recently though - these need to be reweighted to suit the kr, dunno who'd be capable of doing that these days
-
no more than a week i'd say would be normal following payment
if you've been in touch with seller and no plausible response then maybe time to name and shame...
-
hey Mand, oh yes... only a day to go :onfire: must say your a gent to deal with, suitably +ve feedback will be left in sellers thread
16yrs is a good long time for a single car :salute:
mine not so long, started with nr 1 in 2000, straight onto nr 2 until 2005, had nr 3 until 2006, so with the gap of 3 years only 6 in total if that counts!

removal of aerial + wire - 0.5kg
removal of under bonnet sound proofing - 0.5kg
mate you must be desperate
really like the work you've done, keep it up
-
you don't waste time, straight into it :D
said a million times already, but they're such a classic motor am really jealous
-
top explanation mikkijayne :salute:
i was only half paying attention in class :)
-
 I have no idea what you are on about but it sounds great or nasty!do we have a metalurgist (spelling?) on the forum?
just out of interest, I take it heat would be a major factor in this, as clamped on downpipe shields and exhaust manifold heat deflectors (for warm air pickup) seem to corrode very fast too.
i'm not sure what i'm on about either :D introducing heat into a metal definitely creates a low voltage charge but a charge all the same, what definitely makes a difference is if the connection is wet as that makes conduction/ erosion even quicker - something to do with creating an electrolyte liquid
-
could be a result of bimetallic corrossion where a current passing through the interface causes the less noble metal to erode, I've come accross it in metal cladding systems and the only way to overcome is to space connections with a rubber washer :D
worth trying what david says, could cut down the interface some
-
congrats, looks tidy
good choice, with a little tlc valvers are bullet proof
-
1.8 16v - needs it's neck wrung but fun all the same
2.0 8v - flexible, but not scintilating
2.0 16v - a little torquier than the 1.8 but still needs neck wrung
G60 - very capable, further gains are cheap and quick
vr6 - probably the most refined in standard form
they all have point and shoot handling
beyond that try the search function and you'll come across some age old debates :D
-
agree with above
next step after lambda would be changing the fuel filter, in fact it's probably best to do that in any case
-
yeh wierd is a poor choice of word, the only thing which i can think makes it a little peculiar is there wasn't any motors using that type of charger at the time
