Ooh shiny! Thanks on my to do list next winter Theo. Looks ace and glad you are planning for the future with the car, after the little wobble a few months back! :thumbleft:
-
Thats the one mate.

Haha, I've got an Aqua Blue VR that needs a new home early next year Daren............Needs a bit of work though!
-
Is that the one that was on Watchdog last week Jim? It was truely impossible to hill start on a steep incline!
-
Where are you located?

Follow your battery earth down. Theres a little post just to the back left of the battery. I'd start with that one. Also starter motor, and the right hand side of the block as you're looking at it. Remove them all, wire brush with some WD40 both the cables and the earth points, wipe them down and re-attach. Internally the main one is just behind the drivers side vent behind the dash. Shouldn't be any problems really with that unless you've been tinkering with your wiring. There are a few others in various locations, but those are the main ones I think.

Its only 3 months Stella. See if you can leave it on a family members drive, or rent a garage or parking space for the period. I'm away for 8 months from April so I've rented a garage from the Local Authority.

£35 + postage seems to be the going rate.

Meh, those second lot of pics weren't on to begin with. Just an excuse to give him sheet really! -
Just heritage that I know of that do them mate. I didn't bother putting one back on in the end. I could understand if it was on the exhaust side, but its not!

Size????????????.......................... -
AVS Spares. Not genuine stuff Matt, but better than ECP or GSF, and you know it'll be the correct part!
-
Both sides listed Rob, not sure if in stock though.
-
I've literally just PM'd a guy of ebay wanting £150 for a pair of "mint" ones. Certainly not mint imo. Anyway, I pointed him in the direction of VW Heritage who are selling genuine classic parts ones for £47.50 each.

To the OP, if you take this and your original is in decent knick, if you're willing to post I may be interested in taking it off your hands.......

Looks damn good that Chris! Hope to see you both early next year! :thumbleft:

I'm budgeting £250 Sean. That should hopefully be enough for a decent second hand exhaust, and enough things to get it reasonable, then I'll be advertising it for someone else to take over the mantle!
-
Indeed Rob! Graham - I wouldn't go that far, but its a good honest example actually. Sean - I must admit I really like it. Corrados came in some great colours didn't they! James - Hopefully mate. I've not had the displeasure of changing balljoints in the past tbh, but shouldn't imagine it would be too difficult. The only thing that'll cost a bit to sort is the exhaust.

Bugger, I got it wrong! There is a retaining circlip type thing on the guides that can be pulled out from the side, thats what keeps it in! Your right, there are no tabs that push in, thats on other cars I was thinking about. Sorry mate!
-
The guide tubes on the seat where the headrest legs slide into. On the back of it theres a little plastic tab you push in to release the headrest. You'll see a couple of slots on the legs as it comes up, and you may think theres more slots to come, but once you get major resistance, it just needs a good tug!

I'll probably get a vacuum bleeder now Sean. With access to air lines, it makes sense and they're pretty cheap to buy looking on ebay. Had another couple of hours on the Aqua today. Manually put it in gear and drove it onto the ramps. Running a little rough, but previous owner mentioned the coil pack needs changing. Got a couple of spares so thats ok. Gotta say, I'm pretty impressed now! Its grubby as hell underneath, and needs a complete new exhaust system by the look of it, but the sills are rock solid! The underseal has been scraped a fair bit where a widowmaker has obviously been used to jack it up but it looks relatively recent and theres no sign of any major rust what so ever. It has a decat which explains why it failed emissions test (I put it down to the major exhaust leak). I mentioned it has the 288mm front brake upgrade, and after a good look and little wipe down, it has braided hoses all round too! I think I'll have them for mine. Another bonus is that the fronts on mine are near new, and the O/S rear was replaced last year so I'll have a full set of braided lines for the price of a single rubber one I expect! ABS and rear spoiler are working correctly too after noticing fuse 16 had blown which is excellent as I thought I'd be chasing another ABS problem. Spoiler retracting is slow, so it needs a bit of maintenance but thats no biggie. Heater dials work on all settings and direction, so the only common problem with it is the sunroof doesn't slide! So, for MOT it requires: - Full exhaust (will get a cheap second hand stainless system) - Ball joints (supplied by PO) - ARB drop links (advisory but cheap as chips) - Sidelight Bulb (Have half a dozen spares anyway) - Legal number plates (Another cheap easy fix) Other bits required: Tidy up in engine bay Detail paintwork Tidy up alarm wiring Replace gear shift cables (before MOT obviously) Maybe replace wings with if a decent set come up in the right colour Thats it! Some pics.

Push the plastic tab until the headrest legs retracts as much as possible, then just be forceful with it Chris. I thought there maybe something keeping it in place, but theres not and its just very stiff to get out. Don't be afraid you'll break anything, just get angry with it!

Well done mate, hope thats the end of it now!
