Yeah your right there Graham. When we have to make repairs in situ, we use strongbacks to ensure they don't flex on these weak points. I was a bit quick to reply last time and as per PMs, my apologies. Both methods have their applications though. :thumbleft:

Window Rollers - on hiatus due to c*ck up

Ooh yes please. I'll have a set for both sides dependant on final price? :thumbleft: -
If the glass is OK see if you can separate it first. Much cheaper to buy a cracked fog and replace the glass. It can be done to a good standard if you take your time.

ABS Brake pedal position sensor - DG Refurb service

Looks easy enough. Plug unclips just below and to the right of the steering column, and I think it rotates 90 degrees and comes out by pushing toward the bulkhead. Not 100% that's correct but it seems that way at a glance mate. -
Just heard Martin Brundle mention the possibility of an Audi (VAG) F1 team for next season with Stefano Domenicali heading it up. It's the first I've heard about it, but could be a real benefit with R&D probably having a big uplift in the group, and eventually finding it's way into the mass market? What are your thoughts?

I understand with why this would be done in high temp areas. Especially with solder mixes nowadays and joins being nowhere near as strong with no lead content. I have access to 60:40 tin/lead solder luckily which is still used in aeronautical and military manufacturing only. A correctly crimped connection using a high quality crimp tool with the correct AWG setting for the wire is the way to go though. :thumbleft:

Standard sized fans are available from veedubmachine too if you want to retain the standard bracketry and looks.

Doh, I binned one last month. Sounds like it would have been worthwhile having a spare. Are they available from VW?

I'm convinced he's buying heritage stock and flogging it on at an inflated price. He's got another 50mm and 90mm splitter on the go again now. He must have sold over a dozen "spare" ones! -
Spotted on Watchdog. Outside a dodgy engine replacement specialist.

Bugger, I had a Bosch one delivered yesterday from a Polish ebay seller for £66. -
Carcoon or carcapsule do like big bubble type things. Not particularly cheap but it depends what lengths you're willing to go to. The indoor ones are cheaper I think and you'll probably be able to get away with a budget one if your there often to vent it etc.

It'll buy you time to get a decent set of replacements. I agree about not modifying too much though. I've kept mine to put back on if/when I sell should the buyer desire. Always nice to have that option.

Ah you should have said last week Matt. I had mine out and separated the seat loom from the other bits it's wrapped with on my old loom, the re-wrapped it into a new one that didn't have heated seats. It's all back in now, sorry mate!

Just remove them all. Looks much cleaner imo except on light coloured cars where it helps to break it up a little.

Just watching it now, I was just about to post that!!!!

A couple of days late there Ron, he was down this w.end for the Great South Run!

Seeing as this has turned into a how much you can eat thread, and I'm a glutton for punishment (pun intended), I've just been for a 32oz man feast and now having major meat sweats! Before After Quite happy with this effort personally. :smug:

As title and as pictured. In good condition with uncracked collar please. Cheers all!

Gents, thank you very much. Means a lot to hear such positive feedback and gives me the motivation to continue. Rog - thanks mate, I'll give you a bell when we're down next and stop by to see you bud. Michael - really appreciate you dropping the bits off, look forward to a few pints at Christmas. Good luck for today mate. :thumbleft:

Pm one of the mods. They can authorise it and it's a genuine reason so can't see there being a problem. Jamie is probably already gone though so you'll have to come up with something original!
-
Excellent, thanks Rob! :thumbleft: Funny you say that, my rear tub was painted body colour before, but when I took it off for the respray, it cracked as it was bonded on good and proper! I think I preferred it body colour actually. Hmmmm
-
Haha, I don't think so - well I certainly don't! I dunno, think it just says a lot about how the car is used by the state of the floor mat?

Thanks fellas! Rog, it'll be a good example come the end.... whenever that may be! The problems I've had is that I've had to spend a fortune on things that generally don't often get touched and are out of sight or not often noticed. Whoever has owned it in the past, whilst obviously very enthusiastic, they must have just had a lump hammer and a blunt spoon in the tool box because everything is bodged, cracked, or simply not working. It's these things that have really taken the time and effort to sort, where most cars that have just been left alone or left to the pro's are already at that "normal" level. The only parts of interior loom I haven't had to replace are the tailgate looms and the headlight switch loom strangely enough. 10 hours trying to sort it today and probably that again to finish.
