  1. The trick is to buy a sensible daily. Unless you mega tune a corrado, it'll never compete with a modern performance car, and truth be told, will never handle as well either. I've just bought a 3 year old 1 series diesel and although probably on par with the C with regard to performance, I have no faith in it in the wet. Zero steering feel and the back end feels very twitchy in the wet. At least with a FWD car, you may get a little understeer, but it's easy to gauge if your cornering too quickly. The beemer is just well, a little dull to drive. It's a good all rounder but doesn't evoke any excitement.
  2. Ok mate, I'll check tomorrow lunch time and let you know straight away. Sounds interesting about the recon, would like to know more when its all done. :thumbleft:
  3. Hi Emu, I have one minus glass, and the reflective surface is not effective. Iirc, its also been Joey modded (outward non reflective bit painted satin black). Its yours for postage if you want it mate?
  4. Yeah I did mate. :thumbleft:
  5. Meh, Potayto potaato. I'm genuinely not against people from the area, I have lots of friends from Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, Lancashire etc........ as I said, I think he just plays on it and exaggerates it is all. :thumbleft: I thought the Spitfire episode he did earlier this week was excellent too!
  6. I know what your saying mate. I don't think thats an Amazon anymore either. Ok the body kind of is, but there's absolutely nothing else there that's original. Its like a Ferrari kit with MR2 underpinnings. Not my taste tbh. Again, don't get me wrong that is an incredibly well built machine by the looks of it, I just don't like the essence of it.
  7. 0-60 in 3 seconds, 205 mph top speed............. don't get me wrong thats very impressive, but I'm pretty sure its not quite the fastest car in the UK. I like his shows, but I tend to get a bit fed up with his Yorkshire drawl after a while. I think he plays on it assuming its funny or something.
  8. Bringing her home Friday, woohoo!!!
  9. I thought all late cars had obd connectors as opposed to the 2+2? Obviously the 2.0 16v being a later car.
  10. The trim is easy to remove and refit. The problem is though, that the screen may have been leaking for quite some time and as such, there could be a fair amount of rot underneath. The only real option imo, is to completely remove the screen to check, treat or repair the lip, then refit the screen.
  11. If it starts for a second or two then stalls it sounds like an immobiliser issue. A good VW specialist in your area with a decent amount of experience would be your best bet, or just see if someone in your area will read the codes with VAGCOM for a few beer tokens.
  12. Standard size is 55mm inner diameter, 56mm outer.
  13. If you want genuine BBS caps, just keep looking on ebay. I managed to get a set of second hand unused ones for £20 delivered, and I also bought some Chinese copy VW sticker type ones with aluminium backing for £3.99 for the winters.
  14. Balls, always that little bit too late.
  15. I was referring to the fact it was a fosters box James! But your right, as usual it was well padded and packaged. :thumbleft:
  16. Air guide cover arrived thursday but picked up from PO today mate. Great packaging!! Thanks again mate. :thumbleft:
  17. He's been on here today. Stands to reason he would have read PMs and checked this thread...........
  18. He is starting bidding low, but it doesn't make it alright. If people don't know they are available elsewhere they assume it's their only option as they're no longer available from the dealer.
  19. There's a seller we discussed previously who seems to have a huge supply of 90mm splitters on ebay that he's advertising as old spares. He's sold 7 or 8 of them now which have gone for north of £160, even as much as £230! I just wanted to make people that didn't see the previous post aware that they are available for £113 delivered less forum discount from VW heritage. I'm convinced he's buying them up and selling them on as honestly, who has that many spare splitters! It's obviously not breaking the law, but is immoral imo. I bought one from heritage last night as I can't see them having a great deal left. Obviously when stock runs dry, prices escalate. Thought I'd just put that one out there. :)
  20. I always put date time and mileage figures when transferring ownership. Helps safeguard against things like that happening.
  21. I'll take the boot plastic spoiler mech cover, and the carpet fixing clips posted please Chaz. Also if you have them and Tomi doesn't get back, I'd like B pillars too please.

    2.9 vr6 rebuild

I think your talking about the intermediate pulley/shaft and it does drive the oil pump amongst others. The oil pump has a connecting rod that drives it from the intermediate shaft. Good luck with the rebuild, good effort on a high mileage car and sounds like it being saved rather than replaced, which is always a good thing in my eyes. :thumbleft:
  23. Think it's more drive shaft size, hub fitment, etc although I'm not 100% sure what you'll need. Just what I've seen put here previously when folk have asked about converting to a vr. It the whole wiring loom too, probably need a bigger fuel pump, suspension at the front as the vr is so heavy........the list just goes on and on which has put an end to most others attempt previously. It has been done though, so if you have a parts and the enthusiasm, good luck dude! I have a spare spoiler mechanism with broken guides but it's yours if you need it. You can swap the guides over from yours if you can remove it without breaking them.
  24. Why did you get the grille painted Brown James?......... (I'm Sniggering in the background)
