Haha, I'm sure the expats in the middle east dry states use it for just that sort of thing!

It's all just isopropyl alcohol. Used by bodyshops after tack cloths to ensure surfaces are dust and grease free prior to painting.
  3. Cheers Chris. Just praying the certificate and data sheet I've ordered from VW auto Museum confirms it's a genuine Storm now! Lol. Should find out in a couple of months when it finally arrives!
  4. Go on then please Chris. PM me payment info. Cheers!
  5. How much was the 1L tub then? I'm quite concerned about aesthetics, hence the reason I keep banging on about the colour, so what is it like compared to the original grey/beige? I'm at the dealership tomorrow so I can ask about price then, but don't want to get it if its nothing like the original stuff as its just for a few (quite a few actually) spot repairs. If its good, I can decant a bit, leave it to thicken up then brush it on. Thats the idea anyway.........

In fact, it's double female so could be rear beam ones?.......

Looks like it 280mm as it says G60 on the pic with them in the bag.
  8. More likely the rod/mechanism not engaging properly, or the plastic linking part.
  9. I've just had a little look online Jim, thats the correct original part number but I've read a thread on Club GTI that its been discontinued. Its apparently been superseded by PN# D314 D36 M2 which is grey. A little more digging uncovered that there are also D37 (satin black), and D38 (White) which are all now water based. I'm not sure if grey or white would be best now........ By all means give em a ring tomorrow if you like Jim. Just let us all know how you get on! :thumbleft: Thanks mate, appreciate it.
  10. Ok thanks Chris. I'll enquire when I'm in picking up my other bits on Friday if its still available.
  11. Chris, Jim, thanks gents. Chris, I think the dinitrol is spray on only though isn't it? I know the grey stripe is seam sealer, but isn't it pretty much the same as the underseal? Jim, I'll look a bit more into it. I want to be able to feather it into the existing stuff, so thin may be better, but I need it a bit thicker for coverage where any is removed. Good to know its brushable though. I think I'll enquire into how much it is from VW first though! Do you know if its grey/beige or is that the wax on top?
  12. May seem like a daft question, but I'm thinking of getting the UPOL Grey Stripe to do a few spot repairs on my underside. I want it as close a match to the original stuff as possible, and rather than just get the VW stuff that requires an air line and gun, the brushable stuff is much thicker and dries quicker apparently. But............ Is it actually Grey!? I think that is what the VW stuff is, or is it just the wax on the surface that gives it the grey/beige appearance? Thanks all!
  13. I don't think they're overly important tbh Jim. Always nice if you can get it all there though. I'm picking the rest up Friday and dropping a load of stuff off for zinc plating so it would have been nice if these were included, but my current ones are actually complete (if a little rusty) after 22 years and 150k miles, so should last I suppose. I just can't get them off without completely ruining them!
  14. For anyone after these Passat covers in future, I've ordered them today but they're on back order. No idea how long it'll be until I get them.
  15. Disregard, I've just looked at Cressas pic. Not sure if mine is in place now..........
  16. Isn't that part usually plastic welded/riveted onto the upper shelf/cover?
  17. Looks great! You'll have no issues with a later bonnet. The only reason it was bought in was to accommodate the VR lump, so you'll just have a touch more room on top. If you're trying to maintain originality though and if Heritage did in fact send the wrong one, its surely up to them to put it right and get a correct one painted for you. Good luck with sorting it mate.
  18. In fairness, the buyer just put PM sent, it's not the sellers fault here. There was contact made on the thread, it just wasn't very specific. It's a bit ambiguous, but seems a little over dramatic drawing this out........ Just my 2 pence.
  19. I can't seem to do it using the new Photobucket app when using my phone either. Not the same, but its getting on my nerves as well!
  20. Its a vibration damper mate. Some experience vibration when driving at speed if removed, others don't. Its up to you if you want to remove it, but if its not falling off anyway I'd leave it alone.
  21. All the best Chuggs, good luck with whatever you move onto! :thumbleft:
  22. Hasan, thanks mate. It was said a little tongue in cheek, but it truly is on a different level and far beyond my capabilities - let alone budget to achieve. I'm happy with where I'm at with mine though. It won't be show quality but it'll be an extremely solid car when I'm through the next batch of work. Don't mean to clutter this thread though sorry, as you were! :thumbleft:
  23. I think the heritage ones are genuine. I can't remember off the top of my head but think that's where I got mine. I'm not at home or I'd check receipts for you, but should say if genuine or not on the heritage page.
  24. The sealsdirect ones aren't quite a perfect replacement, as there is a lip that kind of overlaps the rear door cards and it's not present on those. They are pretty good for the money though apparently. I'd check to see what is letting the water in first though. More likely scuttle/blower motor if it's parked on an incline, or if you think it's the seals, it's more likely the door membranes so whip the front door cards off and inspect them before forking out for new seals mate.
