  1. Look at grey sets too. It'll expand your options, and because they're less sought after they're generally much cheaper. A good leather dye kit is less than £100 and provided it's not ripped, torn or cracked too deep, you can have them looking amazing with not a huge amount of effort.
  2. Fair enough mate. I can't think of anything else it could be to be honest. The engine is obviously in perfect shape from top to bottom, so maybe have a look around the rear engine mount or Throttle body area to see if there is anything rattling. I know you sometimes hear things that aren't really there when it's on your mind, but you shouldn't be hearing it at speed.
  3. I think noise should decrease if it's manifold related Jim, as the metal expands and affectively fills the Crack. Get a single ply of bog roll or tissue, and from stone cold so you don't burn yourself, run it around the manifold and gasket. Any cracks should noticeably blow the tissue.
  4. Got 3 today whilst driving up to Bristol for the weekend - incidentally it was a horrible drive with the hot weather, stuck in traffic on the M4 for an hour, no A/C, and my arse and back stuck to the seat! But I digress, got a good thumb up from a guy in a Scooby STI, another from a guy in a Renault Master or some such, and a third from a guy in a Merc SLK. Noticed plenty of admiring glances too which is always nice. Most positive response I've had during a single drive which shows they seem to be on people's radar too.
  5. I swapped the upper bolsters and was really simple. Its all one piece, and aside from removing the headrest guides it just pops straight off iirc.
  6. Doubt Rog Chatfield will be coming now Phil. He sold his Corrado earlier on this year.
  7. Well he's obviously a "bright" guy for disabling the camera (and giving a excellent shot of his boat race in the process), so fingers crossed with the right distribution of the pic, it shouldn't be too long before he's held account for.
  8. Cheers Rob, still a way to go though mate. I'm getting bits from month to month so spreading the cost which helps! I'll be back down your way in 5 weeks, so hopefully be able to sort another regional meet before too long mate. :thumbleft:
  9. Congrats! I take it that emissions aren't really a show stopper as its non standard? A clean underbelly is where its at btw!
  10. No sticking with OE Jim. I'm starting to get on a bit now, and can't deal with it being any stiffer than it already is.
  11. No I got them from Heritage Mic. The RHS one is genuine VW, but the left is discontinued so is Topran. Both the same price though, and much cheaper than I thought they'd be tbh. I may source the bushes from VW to put into the LHS one though. Shouldn't be more than a few quid each, but who knows with the dealer.
  12. Pushing on with gathering parts for the underside refurb. Nice little box arrived today. Got a few other bits too like various brake pipe clips, hose clips and fittings, heatshield clips etc as well. Just track rods which I forgot about, CV joints, the elusive front left brake shield, brake pipes and some nuts and bolts and I'll be there. Oh, and to actually get the bits powdercoated. Not sure if I should powdercoat them or just paint them though............
  13. EJ is right Jim. I see the little things wrong with mine all the time. Despite spending close to 7k on it over the last 3 years, I still don't feel like its up there amongst the better ones. Its good that you have the ST to use daily, which means you can just keep it locked up and squirrel away the odd few quid, or buy parts for it from month to month and get around to getting it how you'd like it. Remember what it is, a 20 odd year old car that has enabled you to meet some good friends and have some memorable days or weekends out with. Just keep it that way and use it for the odd show every now and then. I fear you're comparing it too much to the much more refined (and quicker) daily. I know where you're coming from having to use mine daily at the moment, is really is taking the driving pleasure out of it. I do still love its look though, but accept there will come a time when I will move on to pastures new. That said, in your own words previously, its not worth a great deal in its present condition. If you're not desperate for money, keep it locked up and come back to it and do things when you can. :thumbleft:
  14. Haha, I like that last bit Stuart! Super soaker eat your heart out!
  15. Welcome to the forum! Look forward and hope to see some pictures of them all together!
  16. I'll take the Shifter mech please mate. If you could pm me details and postage cost please and I'll get payment over. Thanks.
  17. I saw that yesterday. Good mod that!...............

    VR6 Oil Sump

I know what you mean mate. As mentioned, change the plug at next oil service, but keep an ear out for any scraping.

    VR6 Oil Sump

You can upgrade to the shallow R32 Sump, but you'll need oil pickup too. If your not too low, I'd say just inspect and replace the Sump plug at next oil change. You can get a replacement second hand or aftermarket OE Sump for reasonable money, but bear in mind you'll need a new gasket as well (same with R32 and it's alloy so if you're still low it's much weaker). Your choice though mate.
  20. Welcome Mal! I can only think of 2 couples that both own Corrados, so yeah, you'e got it bad! lol. Have a look round the forum and make yourself at home, any questions just have a search first and then ask away. :thumbleft:
  21. I got the spring a few weeks back. Told someone else the part number too who got one.
  22. 40 mpg at 80mph, I think the only Corrado you'll get close to that is with the 2.0 8v. VR6 you'll see about 30mpg at that speed, maybe 35/36 in a 16v.
  23. The VR6 is a DOHC engine, not single cam btw. Again, hold out until you've had a good look round mine or Daves. You'll know what to look for and it really makes a difference. A 16v is less desireable so in theory you should get more for your money, and will obviously be much better on fuel economy, but don't be put off by the VR6 for that reason. I run mine as a daily at the moment, and have no bother what so ever. I'm around at the weekend if that suits you mate. Sunday would be best for me, but I'm off all next week too so anytime then if it suits you better to come have a good look.
