You need conversion hoses. Mk2 - Mk4 is what its commonly advertised as. If you look on C&R enterprises they do the sets, or there are HEL ones on ebay iirc, as well as some others that are competitively priced. Or, you could just use standard mk3/4 Golf rubber hoses. They all have the same fitting to the copper pipe.

Haha! ^^ In all fairness, I think its diabolical that everyone is now jumping on the immigration bandwagon, and pretty much calling everyone who voted to leave racist. I absolutely did not vote to leave purely for immigration, and it wasn't even my main thinking behind it. As mentioned above, its allowing our country and our leaders to lead based on what WE want, not what is dictated to us by Brussels. I also agree that strategies should have been thought about way in advance should (as it did) the leave vote prevail, which is another thing the press are jumping on in that why don't we have a time frame for all these things. Well, that too takes time to formulate a plan, and as much as I loath some of these politicians, I'm pretty sure they've been working on it in preparation for quite some time. They're not as stupid as we like to think, so it would'nt be a "lets cross that bridge when/if we come to it" mindset. Everyone just wants answers now, but we have to accept its going to take time. I believe our future generations will benefit from this not be hampered by it, but like I'm sure many of us are I'm questioning my judgement. Have I done the right thing? Only time will tell. Its all sinking in now I suppose but drastic measures were required, and we need to have the balls to act. If we all just accepted it as "thats just how it is" the world would have wiped itself out a long time ago.

Really glad you've got it sorted Jim. Hopefully this brings an end to your woes and you can finally start looking forward with the car. :thumbleft:

Never one to sit on the fence!

Some don't like change, and I agree this is a pretty drastic change. However in order for us move forward and not become stuck in the rut that is the EU. I genuinely feel we'll be stronger as a Nation due to this in years to come. We're not completely turning our backs on them don't forget, and I'm sure we'll adopt many of their policies still. We just won't get ring fenced into doing things we don't agree with. Nigel for PM! lol. No seriously, who do we have that anyone would be comfortable with as our PM now!???????

No its true. A few have had issues. If you look on seanjaymos old members gallery, he and the new owner have posted about the whole process, and the end result with the new vs old springs side by side.

So there we have it. The £ is at its lowest since 1985 apparently.

Tell a lie, they're still on with 3 days left.

There was a brand new old stock set on ebay earlier this week. Went for a bit daft money via auction.

Another one I'd planned on attending and literally found out yesterday I won't be able to go to now due to work. Third cancellation in a row now because of this bloody job, not a happy bunny. -
Just over 3 years for this one. Seems a very short time compared to some on here. Just goes to show that they're at the point of being weekend toys and true keepers now doesn't it. It wasn't long ago that people were buying them as they were a cheap "performance" car and used daily, but many underestimated the running and maintenance cost when you buy a car like this and at the lower end of the market, so having them for a very short time before selling on or breaking.

Yeah I have both sides and the only slight problem I had was the boot on the n/s outer is a touch too big, so originally had a bot of Grease leak out. Sorted with a proper banding tool though. Been fitted for about 2k and been perfectly fine. Quite a few others have them fitted too if you do a search, and I think every report until now is a positive one.

TBF Jim, you're the first person I've heard (amongst the general population) who wants to remain for a valid (work not) reason. I don't think "too many unknowns, can't stand Boris etc" is a valid reason to stay. We don't "know" what will happen from one year to the next whilst we're in the EU, with the only known I can see is more sanctions across all sectors being imposed before long. We won't end up just paying import duty from foreign retailers, we're the 5th biggest economy in the world and an absolutely huge global consumer. Absolutely no private industry will pull out or stop dealing with us for fear of the amount they'll lose in revenue. The same will be said about foreign governments. Large companies dictate what happens to our governments, not the other way around. They will be too afraid to impose or change (by much) current trade agreements as these large companies will loose potentially billions if we reduce importing/consumption, or simply go elsewhere. Yes I expect prices may rise slightly for a year or so after its announced whilst stock markets settle and get used to it, but we'll come out better for it in the medium to long term. I'm away at the moment so the wife is voting for me by proxy, but I'm out.

Not a fan of the bodykit types personally, but I feel lightly modified/upgraded is is best suited to my tastes. That said, god I'd love a second one with a VRT! I think that would bring me far more smiles, but alas, funds don't permit that sort of thing! Whilst I'd love to own a completely standard one like Chris Gaskells/Chris Lees, I originally aspired to get mine somewhere like Chris Lees old Blackberry before that went through the mill. I remember seeing it at Castle Combe and thought exactly that. I don't think I'm a million miles away in regard to condition, although the Recaros and RSs are not something I'd consider forking out for seperately due to the price again. I just couldn't justify spending a grand plus on each of them.

I can't see the links so apologies if its been covered, but the 288mm calipers will have a triangular cut out at the top. The 280mm have a rectangular cut out, of sorts. Thats the best way to identify between the two.

I can't see the ebay link at work, but going by the pic in the OP, the original leather is a kind of kit like that. The lower bolsters are seperate to the base, and the back is seperate also. Its actually pretty straightforward to strip them down, they are held in place by metal hanger type rods that slot through folded over leather, then held to the base etc by sharp teeth. The seat sides and parts of the door cards are actually vinyl. Each manufacturer has a different grain of vinyl they use too so unless you get the whole kit, it won't match. Depends how much of an OE freak you are I suppose, but if you're going aftermarket with these, I doubt the leather grain would be a great match. Remember all hides will be slightly different, so unless you get a complete kit from the same hide, chances are it'll be noticeable if pointed out.

Leave it in your basket for 24 hours, they both give you a discount code for 5% off if not used in conjunction with other discounts. CP4L usually have £5 off for every £50 spent though.

Even the finish on the underside is astounding. Must have been an epic job getting rid of that wax! Amazing job, I really enjoy these sort of detailed threads with all the pics in. Gives me motivation to see what I can achieve.......... although doubtful I'd be anywhere close to this! :thumbleft:

If you can get a set of cracked fogs for a reasonable price as good condition ones are crazy money, google Karmannski. He's a Polish guy on here and offers reproduction glass for them, as well as some other repro stuff for obsolete parts.
-
Its the same problem a few of us have had. It generally manifests itself when water temp is up, and it causes the low level warning to go off all the bloody time. I have to constantly keep an eye on water and oil temps to reassure myself nothing is wrong.
-
Obsolete from source now, and many of the final ones were defective (ask me, I know). The original ones will be pretty damn grubby by now if you go second hand. I do know what you mean though, I've kept my new one on even though it gives me a slight worry every now and again just because its original and looks nice.

Ha, so often the cause of non starting issues! Glad you got it sorted in the end, although I'm sure quite frustrating after spending on all those other things.
