  1. Run up to temp with the expansion tank cap off, and massage the hoses when it starts getting hot. I tend to rev it to about 2.5k rpm for 30 secs the idle for 30 secs whilst massaging. Never once had a problem on any car doing it this way.
  2. Obsolete and absolutely as rare as hens teeth! Think I've seen 2 sets for sale in the last 4 years! This thread is 3 years old btw.
  3. That metal surround is aftermarket. Think it's probably just stuck down so if you want rid just peel it off mate.
  4. You've hit the nail on the head with all of them I reckon. Only other thing where the water leak could be coming from is the "Crack pipe" which runs along the front of the block and feeds into the water pump. These are common problem areas so worth investigating that before water pump I reckon.
  5. Yeah I did mine with it, it's good stuff but I'd advise getting a couple of extra compressed air tins if using that gun. Gliptone do one too which others have used I believe.
  6. Ebay auction with a reserve or a classified ad mate.
  7. Trouble is Rob if they had a mare getting it in, they may have scratched the paint around the lip. It generally happens on removal when they cut it out. Then don't make good, but it's worth taking the outer trim off and seeing if the rust visibly extends further. It may be dry now, but the water sitting behind the trim will soon rot out the pillar again and water will work it's way in.
  8. There are plenty of fabric dye suppliers, but you'd have to send them a swatch and see if they can match it. Furniture Clinic do it for fabric as well as leather iirc.
  9. Jez, I've booked a hotel in Leeds on the Friday night mate, but I'll make my own way up. The wife and kids will be there too so if we need to make an "unexpected" pit stop we then won't break up the convoy. Thanks for the offer mate, and we'll see you there! :thumbleft:
  10. Mine is broken too but I have a replacement. If you remove the lock mechanism you should be able to see it, as it slots into that. Unfortunately one of the bolts for my lock mech has siezed and I'm in the middle of drilling it out.
  11. Thats fair enough. There may be someone out there willing to pay that. Just bear in mind that those are traders so will obviously hike up the price pretty heavily.
  12. What a great list of upgrades you've done there, and I adore the LMs! I remember seeing this at National day at Bruntingthorpe 2014 where it won best car, but I also remember quite a few flaws as you'd mentioned above. Glad you've addressed them as this is one hell of a good car now! :thumbleft:
  13. Have you replaced the pump? I'd do that before the rack mate.
  14. Remove the arch liners and you'll be able to reach up and push the side repeater out. Much easier than removing the wing! :thumbleft:
  15. Whats wrong with it Phil? The PAS system can be a mare to bleed properly. Keep it in the air with ignition off, do the lock to lock thing there, then start the engine and do it again. Finally, do it again with wheels on the ground, then again on a bit of a test drive. The pump can whine like a bitch sometimes, but often settles down after a while.
  16. No, you definitely need 4. One as a parts car, one "being repaired", one to drive, and one 'just in case' the driving one breaks down.
  17. There is a brown single core wire with a spade that doesn't connect to anything in and amongst the starter motor wiring. I can't remember for the life of me what its for, but its not connected on UK models. Nothing to worry about though.
  18. Quick update, just had an email from DT who have had a response from Bilstein, who have also been in contact with Eibach. They are aware of the problem, and have put it down to the differing spring lengths between the vr6 on that changeover as mentioned in a previous post. Whether this is their fault is debatable, but I suppose they could amend their fitment year to safeguard against this happening in future. Either way they don't currently have the replacement springs in stock, but when they do (1-2 weeks) they will be sending them out to me. Hopefully they arrive before I move house on 15th August!
  19. I've heard of quite a few blue temp sensors being well out of spec, and recently too. Erratic idle, cutting out, and poor emissions being symptoms. You can monitor temps on VCDS which has shown them to be shot.
  20. Blue supplies the info for the Ecu, so worth changing. Again iat sensor is quick and easy to change, so get it swapped out.
