  1. Well I've been using mine as the daily since February, and not had a single hiccup. :smug:
  2. Good stuff! Must have been some mega coasting going on to get that!
  3. I'm moving house on the Monday now so won't be camping after all, but should be able to get up for the day on Saturday. :thumbleft:
  4. Well done on the award Daren, well deserved! :thumbleft:

    16v brakes

Sorry yeah, thats what I was getting at in my original post. The calipers are the same across all I've mentioned, just stud pattern on the disks are different.

    16v brakes

Don't look specifically for G60, the vr6 280mm setup is the same. The mention G60 just hikes prices up for those unaware though mate. Again, mk3 Golf GTI from previous 95 use 280mm front setup too, so you can widen your search which should make availability plentiful.
  7. Ah that'll be what Kev was on about then. Thanks Stuart!
  8. Not sure I agree with the Fiat Barchetta, LS400 and the Celica tbh....... Most of the others though are great cars and a few are in my dream list!
  9. Hmm, just clicked on the 'grey stripe' thinking it was a link to underseal, but ended up on an ad for CK boxers....... What is it Kev? I'd like to sort a few bits that have been scraped off my Underside soon and looking for something that has the same depth/consistency and texture as original. I don't want to use waxoyl which I've put on temporarily as it doesn't seem to harden.
  10. Rubber ball, come rolling back to.....and so on and so forth.
  11. One of the wheel bolts or the hub nut/drive shift bolt? If one of the wheel bolts, ensure they're all torqued up correctly. Of Hub nut, the on full lock it's possible the drive shift could have released from the hub and trashed everything around there, including the gearbox if it jammed against something.
  12. Sounds like it's had filler before then. It's the filler not fully hardened prior to paint that causes the pin prick sized sink holes usually.
  13. Just use 2000 grit paper on a block and the new paint will lift away easily enough. It's much softer than the original lacquer so you won't do any damage if you're careful. As EJ says, I use a cocktail stick for chips rather than the effort if shaving a match down though!
  14. Think he's looking to get back into Corrado ownership Mark.
  15. Yep, that was me! Congrats on the award, looks absolutely cracking in those pics! :thumbleft:

    Vr6 rod resize

I shouldn't imagine it would be as important with ARP rod bolts, as they're re-usable and not the 1 time use like standard, so an estimated clamping force should be more than sufficient with these. I've never heard of anyone having any problems period, when torqueing them up using a reasonably well calibrated torque wrench.
  17. Fair play to you mate. A huge amount of work to recommission this car, but you don't seem put off by it and its an absolute credit to you for saving it. Keep up the good work! :thumbleft:

    Wd40

Ahh good times (not that I remember them as it was long before I was born), but they'd never get away with this sort of innuendo nowadays, such a shame that humour is lost for the sake of being a prude.............
  19. I think they were all a bit too easy to pinch around this era. My Dad had a Cavalier GSI that was stolen 3 times too. Luckily it was a company car so he got to give it back after 2 years!
  20. I enjoyed that episode last night. Great car for sure, but if I'm honest I prefer the mk2 Astra GTE. That Lotus Carlton would be on my bucket list to drive too!
  21. Bonnet cable trumpets are now available through VW heritage. I saw it on ebay the other day.
  22. Depends on width of tyre Chris, but 40 profile should be used to keep the rolling radius as close to stock as possible. Which will keep your speedo more accurate.
  23. Wow, thats pretty comical! Are there pictures on your members gallery of the car? Surprised nobody noticed if so.

    Battery cover

I got one from a mk3 Golf that fits perfectly. My battery isn't a huge one though. Worth an eBay search though I reckon.
  25. Hi Michael, yep looking back now it really was a dog to begin with! On the up though and I'm not a million miles away from having a very good car indeed. Rob, I've no idea how to go about it, or who to contact tbh. Not that I've got the time to over the next 6 weeks as I'm at sea most of it mate. Really good of you to offer though mate. :thumbleft:
