  1. Without wanting to confuse you further , the size, offset and weight of a rs301 work really well on a Corrado especially considering they are 17's

I think common problems plague all cars even the corrado with the chain tensioner issues on the vr6 and heater matrix failures. In my experience the BMW's are quite well engineered and i've enjoyed working on them as they are pretty logical and clips designed well etc. Although i haven't been as hands on as i have with my corrado, my old 330d suffered a oil cooler failure pushing oil in to the coolant system. It was quite straight forward to strip down, replace and flush the system. At the same time i blanked the swirl flaps. Along with the oil cooler and a boost leak i had trouble free motoring for 60k miles over 2 years
  3. Just been through your thread, really good work. I like the idea of climatronic, the standard airbox setup leaves a lot to be desired! Also having ac is the one thing I have always missed with mine. I share the same feelings about the ch's, they look lovely but are too heavy and detract from the driving dynamics of the corrado. New wheels look great, hope you can work out a brake upgrade solution, AP's used to be more forgiving than brembos from what i remember on the corrado specific application kits

I'm not so sure, I had a 330d and now drive a 530d daily and although great for a daily diesels get quite boring. I'm actually looking forward to driving the corrado despite it being slower

130i is lots of fun and reasonable maintenance costs!

I guess it depends what you want, the balance of the chassis is what attracts most. Agree to some extent about the lack of power low down, you would feel this if you came from a forced induction car. But on the other side you get a sharp throttle and as you have to work the engine, its more rewarding when pushing hard. The engines have mechanical tappets and require the valve clearances adjusting to make their rated power, this is often missed from the service schedule so you come across cars down on power. 335d/335i would suit someone who wants a swift but relaxing drive, they are effortless to drive 90% of the performance is accessible quite easily. The downside to this is that the limits are explored quite quickly after which you can get bored. M cars are more highly strung, but it takes some time to explore the performance and limits which is rewarding in itself. Agree about the brakes though, floating calipers have no home on a performance car!

I'd be thinking E46 M3, much more accomplished all rounder with the engineering developed from factory. Still room for improvement if you wanted to tinker but you would be starting from a higher base.
  8. Contrary to my last post a few years ago i still have the car. Its been in storage for 3 years now. A quick oil change over the weekend and the car runs perfect except for the alternator which has failed while its been off the road. Alternator should be sorted this week and then a mot booked at the weekend. I haven't worked on a vr6 for so long, but its funny that i remember the engine inside out even after so long! This picture is just after i pulled it out so still needs a thorough wash, excuse the drive as thats also work in progress
  9. :) both look good, nothelles the better option for cleaning though. I recently brought my car out and forgot how much work was involved in cleaning a set of rs's
  10. i like the nothelle classics, what size and offset are they?
  11. Solitudes look good, sort of like a blackberry storm :) I'm sure the extra tyre profile makes the ride more compliant. Just had a flick through your thread, mines looked really similar on the rh zw1's
  12. nice car, the wheels really suit it!
  13. Looking good Hasan, glad to see that you're still tinkering away. I like the finish on the wheels, low maintenance sounds good :)
  14. I need a vr6 alternator ideally close to west London or in kent, needs to be cheap as it's only for fault finding Thanks
  15. I see a m reg blue/black corrado on the a308 around runnymede every day, any one here? Theres also another corrado in an underground car park where i live in windsor not seen the chap who owns it?
  16. I'm selling the car so could sell the wheels seperately. They are 5x112, if you're interested drop me a pm
  17. blackberry corrado in Windsor on saturday
  18. nice work I'm still tempted to obd2 mine if I can source the pats and find the time
  19. As it happens i'm considering a 1 series diesel but only as a friend is selling a highly specced LCI model that has factory sat nav and xenons amongst other things.I'm getting married this year so need to keep costs down for a while. This is a few months down the line so I'll still have the vr for the moment at least.
  20. Thanks Abdul not interested in keeping as a weekend car the fun in owning it has been driving it every day. The zw1's were 8 x 17, as standard they come ET60 5x112 and you run the rh adapter/spacers to suit fitment. I ran mine with 25mm adapters which meant a final offset of et35 all round. Using toyo t1 205/40/17 tyres i had no clearance issues what so ever until i ran it really low. The wheels and tyres cleared my coilovers on the rear without any problems.
  21. Im also considering RWD bmws with a petrol straight 6 engine but when i think about my mileage i come back to the diesels :)
  22. Since my last update Ive been using the vr6 for the daily commute to work covering around 600 - 700 miles per week. Overall the car has been quite reliable. I had to do a replace heater matrix and I had the misfortune of my drive shaft coming loose and knocking a hole in the gearbox. I swapped the box for one out of a lower mileage corrado and its been fine ever since. The previous box was a CCM code from a MK3 golf, the replacement is a CHN code from corrado and the ratios seem much better. I always assumed the ratios were the same but on the corrado box the car pulls much stronger than before. Ive been having mixed feelings about he corrado as its not practical for what i need with my current circumstances but its driving better than ever so i will be keeping hold of it for now. When i do decide to sell i'll be looking at rwd diesel bmw's
