  1. Now that funny coming from you. Your the biggest nutter here!
  2. There a fair bit of "enthusiastic dremeling" marks on mine! I think the cam pics make it look better than it is. I didn’t get any new bolts or bits of shifter, so the end result is hardly visible when looking into the engine bay. There a lot of gubins spoiling the view of the gearbox. To make the most of all the effort you need to get you bolts, shifter, cable ends chromed and if you can sort something with the starter motor and hydraulic clutch to make them look better. I’m sure you’ll be doing all this anyway.
  3. aaaargh! Try polishing it out, then ask at a bodyshop. They may be able to use some finishing componds to sort it.
  4. Are you using a dremal Lee? Doing around the diff without one is going to hurt. Another pic.
  5. I've polished mine. I cleaned it with paraffin, sand blasted it with a crappy sand blaster I've got which didn’t have much effect. I then spent about two days attacking it with a dermal. Finally, I spent a day with wire wool and polish. Didn’t come up that well needed to have spent longer dremaling it. Here's the pics, there with cam phone though.
  6. I'd have hit the roof. Also most of the guys ( generalising ) working at VAG nowadays have not done much with anything over 3-4 years old....the independant specialists have generaly been trained at VAG years ago (( so know more about 10-15 yr old cars )) Very true.
  7. A couple of weeks ago Trevor tonight was about dodging trafic penaltys. If the signs arnt exactly like there pictured in the road traffic act then there void. e.g. Those 30mph signs that are circles on a sqaure yellow back ground are void in the eyes of the law. But only if you go to court with pictures, etc.
  8. Try a bosch service center?
  9. Have you checked that the sign conforms to the regulations laid out in the road traffic act? e.g. It wasnt on a yellow sqaure or something. (who else saw that trevor macdonnut  )
  10. Getting your G60 setup at Gwerks/Pitstop after a charger rebuild is a bit of a pilgrimage for g-lader owners. The way the cars run after being setup by someone who knows what there doing is amazing. *EDIT Welcome to the forum!
  11. Sounds good advice to me! Those new VAG cambelt intervals are stupid.
  12. Well done Jim, thats a quality DVD cover!! Aswell as a proper copy of the DVD. Can it be put on bittorrent, emule or something similar?
  13. The cable has probably just come unstuck from the back of the clocks. Its a bit of an awkward job but doesn’t take very long.
  14. I can recommend this good value sealey set. I bought one myself when I did my gearbox has a big selection of hex, torque and splines. SHould be more than you'll ever need. Part number is AK219 expect to pay from £15 to £22 I think.
  15. I think if your chassis number is post N then you should have ABS, etc. Well that what I remember being told when I was looking for a late g60. Don’t know if this helps?
  16. I cant find the spec!?!? What turbo is it? Is it still FWD? If so why the wheely bar? Mad though!
  17. Have you got a 'Giro Valve'/isv valve or isv re-route done?
  18. It’s a bugger that, but sadly its just a matter of wiggling about until it fits in. I wouldn’t worry about it being different. I threw away a knackered perburg pump (that was a bit brown, but I thought that was its age) and replaced it with a VDO (brilliant white). So the fittings on both must be the same. I seem to remember that the problem is that the bottom of the tank isn’t flat so you need to hold the pump at a slight angle to correspond to its mount. Check this though I could be dreaming! Also check where the pipes are meant to join to the pump, this should tell you roughly what position the pump will be in when attached. Once you've worked that out try rotating it either way. I bet when you get it in, you’ll wonder why it took you so long.
  19. Try these forums out for advice http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/ and http://www.ukwelder.com/forum/ Let me know how you get on, I''ve got a MIG welder and a couple of knackered chargers to practice on. I could maybe use some sort of alloy wire and a higher argon mix, but TIG would be better though. EDIT* What TIG have you got?
  20. Sweet Ben, I knew my welder would come in handy one day! Anyone got a spare seat? I fancy one myself now.
  21. If it continues to happen it'd probably be a good idea to change the oil in the gearbox. Get some of that redline mt90 gearbox oil from demon tweaks.
  22. That is true, but we have fitted a Bahn Brenner silencer to a charger that’s supported with custom brackets. It’s supported at both ends which reduces the chance of any flexing of the case. The silencer is quite a bit, but it’s made out of aluminium with some quality CNC machined bits and the pipe work is machine TIG welded. Looks like it cost quite a bit to produce. You also get samco’s and a nice little BBM engraved thing for relocating the battery. Which is nice touch. I recon if you get a lysholm to budget for getting a silencer kit a few months later. You wouldn’t regret it though the power is awesome. I think it was even better with the silencer kit fitted.
  23. There not that noisy at all with a silencer kit fitted. There almost subtle then! Un-silenced there a bit much for every day even if you enjoy feeling like your in a group B rally car all the time.
