  1. Sweet, whats that on the box that looks like copper grease or is it tin foil?
  2. Defo, should keep me busy while I get the money together for a rebuild! I’d like to get it chromed. But after hearing that chroming your gearbox could cost £500, I think chroming’s out for me. US bloke reckons my charger should be here any day. So back on the road soon.

    no go...

Sounds like a dodgy ignition switch.
  4. Yeah that grey from TT's. I dont mind it on TT's, but it looks really good on any dub coupled with some bling wheels. Henny, I could do with those pictures. Its my mum's camper, so I have to persuade her that grey will look the bollox.
  5. Another of my broken charger and how I finally got home from Tatton park.
  6. Here's one a made earlier. I've got a camper in pieces now and that thing is well handy for trying out colour schemes. What do you think? (the grey is supposed to be a unlacquered nimbus grey)
  7. Lee, how much does chroming cost? I've know idea myself, but whats a ball park figure for geting a gearbox case chromed, if you've done the perp yourself? How much for a head do you reckon?
  8. I'm bored so I've finally got my taton park pics of my camera. Nice pictures, best I've got of my car. 8) Also picture of the inside of my broken charger. Shows how the apex seal groves have worn then broken. Some of the bits you see missing are missing. I havnt tried turning it over with a by pass belt on yet. Finggers crossed its all okay. Some of my polished gearbox case again, and finally a picture of my new charger thats on route from USA!! Hopefully it'll be here in time to go under the tree from Santa!
  9. Cool! Nice job. I like the way you've removed those awkward lips. Did your box also have a ridge where I've draw a red line in the attached picture? Removing that must have made it a lot easier to get in around where the linkage attaches. I wish I'd done what you've done now. Aren’t you worried about affecting the strength of the case? A bit of flex in the case could destroy your gears. Brave man, hacking bits off the case like that! :D 8)
  10. Three Kings off to see the baby Jesus? MERRY XMAS!! try this: http://www.jesusdressup.com/christmas.html That cant be right!
  11. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrgghhhhh! Sorry to hear about that!
  12. The thing with insurance work is that the insurance company are probably paying for a rental car while the repair work is being carried out. Also, insurance work is probably most body shops bread and butter. Without it they wouldn’t survive. EDIT* Off course I am, arent I always!
  13. It’s probably because they let insurance work take priority over your car. They’ve got to keep the insurance companies happy!
  14. Nice one, I'm a big fan of those chrome bezel rings. Never seen a moonroof in the flesh. Looks good in the pictures.
  15. Your fuel filter should have in on one side and out on the other. I think the bolt your talking about is a DX (engine code) crank bolt not a cam bolt. Do a search for DX bolt and you should find the correct part number.
  16. Check this out; http://www.pipelinecard.org/
  17. Thats quite a dent, as you've said could have been worse. Someone scan in PVW's cover and post it up here!
  18. Your in luck the bell housing is a little easier. The forward facing flat bits by the starter motor and the bolt hole at the top come up mint. That little gully running along the top of the bell housing comes up nice too. The bit I had trouble with was the curved surface on the back of the box by where the flange would sit. The grime there was really imbedded in the metal. Must have been CV joint grease mixed with road muck. Have you found many casting imperfections? I had two pretty nasty ones on mine.
  19. It has to be the cost of running a car, insurance and of course petrol. Don’t forget this country leads the world in producing motorsport technology and engineers. I think it’s true to say that there's a large amount of track cars in this country and that amateur motorsport is popular. But street/import racing and custom cars aren’t really British things. Think we like to use things more and like them for there function more than there looks. Were not as comfortable showing off as Americans, that’s why drifting in 1000hp skylines will never really catch on here. (only with the burberry brigade who cant afford it)Its hill climps in 90hp Hillman Imps and Austin Alegros for us, after all where British don’t your know!
  20. So whats the feature like? Happy with the pictures? I assume your cars on the cover!
