  3. Its only occasionally it does it though.... thats what has puzzled me!!! Also I feel this might due to the trouble had with number one cylinder coking up,... and yes its doing it again now.... Ive had a few people look at it and they suspect the injector. Hot and Cold compressions = same.... Wet and Dry compressions are same.... so it aint engine wear!!! Also the plug is matt black.... Injectors done 102k miles anyway!!... so £35 for ultra sonic cleaned ones aint going to kill me now! *:) But will see if can check the voltages - cant see why not! Cheers, Scott
  4. :mad: Noticed last week when pulling away in 1st / 2nd gear I got a puff of black smoke out the back.. its not related to revs in any way..... seems actaully be confined to low revs... I thought then perhaps it was just a one off but it now seems its a bit more regular now although some days it will be fine other days it will give a puff of smoke and then be fine for rest of day!!!! :shock: No smoke on start up, no smoke at high revs, high compressions, no power loss (191bhp)..... and no DTC's (VAGCOM) so am a bit lost!!! Its black smoke which suggests to me fuelling..... now with 102k on the clock would you suspect injector problem? Discuss!!! :D

    And Ive had a scobbie too :lol: Its not all horsepower lads.... bhp is nothing without the torque to back it and it is this that the VR6 has in buckets *;) A decent VR6 will see off a 200bhp G60.... and like mention its the gearing on a G60.... I can see 70mph in 2nd gear on the VR if Im naughty :oops:
  6. Impreza Turbo was old shape with 220bhp I believe.... new shape ones and higher end ones are tough *:) My car is un-modded but produces a genuine 191bhp and 185lbft torque *;)
  7. Well I know somebody who took off his ramair on a VR6 and put a BMC filter on it..... he lost alot of power :shock:

    well if it wasnt you would get that code!!! So clear the code - go for a drive then plug in VAGCOM or whatever you have and try again!... Would check its a definate code fault before shelling out dosh *:) Oh and I maybe wrong but if its a genuine speed sensor code then the engine wouldnt run *:)
  10. Nothing wrong with a 1.8 16V... I had one for nearly 3yrs and was a cracking motor - mega reliable too...

    VR6 oil leek

    Yes you would - but the leak would not explain noisy timing chain.... Crankshaft seals leaks are common and unless its bad would leave it until the clutch needs doing and just keep eye on oil level - crank shaft seals usually fail as a result of putting too much oil in the engine.........

I had the linkages adjusted, gearbox oil changed and also changed the fluid between brake master res. / clutch slave and slave cylinder and its made a heck of a difference..... a slight push is all that is needed now :D But from what you say about pedal travel and gears hard to find I would suggest the clutch might be on way out.... £300 job from specialist. Sorry mate that is wrong :oops: At least in the VR6.... the VR has a seperate brake master and a seperate clutch master cylinder.... although the reservior on top of brake master does feed the clutch master.... The clutch master then routes to the slave situated on top of the gearbox.... After about two hours of bleeding fluid from the clutch master / slave (it was filthy!) I eventually sorted it :D Cheers!

    What you done to the G60 ? :D Ive raced a 4 motion too through Salford ... got rid of that pretty quickly....
  18. Can anyone help me with a problem with clutch master cylinder? I have fitted a new one and am trying to bleed it…. Am having no luck whats so ever!!! – The pedal wont return…. Anyone? Scott.

    Emission laws did also have alot to do with it as mentioned...... same thing happened to Escort Cosworth.......
  20. I put my money on the water pump bearings going.... take the belt off again and see if any play in the bearings on the pump by trying to rock it... On a further note the belt that goes round water pump does not also go round power steering pump on the K jet engine.... two seperate belts!

Spot on about the driveshafts *:) Oil leak I bet is the crank shaft seal going.... not a major problem but means oil on driveway.... what happens is the oil leaks out from between the flywheel and gearbox and then spreads over the sump and bottom of gearbox.... But it could be that the sump nut not been tightened up or even the copper washer not been replaced.... havent known sump gaskets to leak on VR6 though......

Trust me - if you worry about the temps on a VR6 - you will worry even more with a K jet 16v in a Corrado - they get VERY hot! :lol: My old one (minter) used to stay at 90deg C on motorway will oil around 110-116degC.... in traffic water temp nearly always went up to 100deg - 105deg.... hot day would see 110degC.... also saw oil temp of 124degC on a hot summer day.... Nowt to worry about... as long as lights dont start flashing *:)

    Timing on a 16v.

    Sorry mate but that is totally wrong - you cannot adjust the timing like that on the K jet engine 16V!!!
