Why bother when can get a special plate that fixes over the original panel that can be colour coded.... was mentioned on here couple days a go ? - blanking plate?
-
No different to a 8V mate... assuming that is you havent disturbed the chains on gear box end *:) Just line up the crankshaft to TDC - should be a pointer there and the pointer on the cam pulley.... Have you done the timing belt then or something ? 16V has a chain on gearbox side that goes round the camshafts... it then has a single belt on the opposite side that literally looks like a 8V engine belt....

High mileage VR6 corrados..............................
Scott replied to DORSET_V_DUBSTER's topic in General Car Chat
Well mines just gone past the magic 100k and having been rolling roaded its still putting out 191bhp / 185 lbft torque which is higher than standard figures.... The golden rule with any high mileage car is how well it has been looked after.... cars these days are so well built that decent servicing and looking after will ensure it see's 200k miles with ease... Give me a 100k motorway mile muncher over a 50k towny car anyday *;) So make sure it has a FSH (specialist or VW) with a load of reciepts ... check it all carefully ( to make sure its the right history for the right car  ) - if has VW history then go to your main dealer and get them to tell you when it was last serviced by them to verify it .... I did this myself recently. As mentioned HPi is a good thing.... *:) And the most important rule of all - if it doesnt feel right or drive right then walk away....... -
Thanks mate! Nothing wrong with any of the cylinders, etc - the problem happened due to the clutch master cylinder rod that connects to clutch pedal actually shearing off at the eyelet!! mad eh! - so just needs a new clutch master cylinder (£80) and both that and the slave bleeding (As Im assuming the clutch master feed runs to the slave.... ) Sorted *:) Should take me an hour tops....
-
Anyone done this before? Was wondering if was a certain procedure to follow? Am unable to find anything in the Bentley......
-
Going to object for the heck of it *;) LOL Anyway problem turns out that the rod that connects slave to clutch pedal has sheared its eyelet !!! - un-usual.... So will be ordering one tomm morning... should only be a ten min job *;) Any suggestions where can buy genuine part? cheap!! *:)
-
check water pump - I lost alot of coolant cos couldnt see it coming out!!!
-
*:) Thats just it - mine has been fine since I have had the car - never had any problems with it..... It drops like a stone mate....

Im only going by what RAC man said and he said something at top of pedal is broken ... need to have a look myself... As soon as I touch the pedal with my foot it just drops to floor... no resistance at all.... Am going to have a look myself tonight and take the bottom of the dash out a.... if it all looks ok then I'll get it to a garage and have them sort it...... havent time to mess about as have a 600 mile journey on Sunday!
-
Well there are no fluid leaks..... I can pull the pedal up and it stays there...... push it down with foot and it immediately drops and stays again floor - no resistance in pedal at all.... pushing pedal down from top to bottom with no resistance results in a very slight movement of linkage on top of gearbox..... but no resistance at pedal at all - RAC bloke said was something to do with how pedal is fixed to cylinder.... :?
-
come on guys help me out here!
-
Find out Im going to be made redundant on Monday....... then last night the VR6 throws a wobbler.... and had just got it perfect! *:( Clutch pedal went too floor and would not come back up - called Mr RAC to be taken home on back of a flat bed truck.... *:( Apparently there is a plastic clip that connects pedal to master cylinder rod and its broken? Anyone had this or know anything about it - will fix it myself if its not a hard job else will have to find a way of getting it to the dealer...

Well a friend has recently been in a Turbo Scobbie (old shape) and he said I'd have it in straight line no problem (and I did) but on the twisty stuff the 4WD will come into effect....or in the wet in a straight line - but I wouldnt stand a chance in hell against the newer Subaru turbo's.... you have to remember that even though the old Scoobie has more BHP it also has more transmission losses due to 4wd and is heavier... once I got to over 80mph (on nans private track) it was obvious the Scoobie was struggling... But like I said I wouldnt want to race a newer one or one that has been modded *:) And no he wasnt a happy chappy *:) Cant say I'd beat every old Scoobie though - alot of it is driver element, engine condition and so on... but I beat one and thats enough *:) In Mike's words ' Just get them out on the table and measure them' is probably apt.. *:)
-
Corrado VR6 - 1, Subaru Turdbo - 0.... And yes it was in a straight line but who cares
-
Buy a VR6 !!! - A proper mans car none of this turbine rubbish *;)

Whats wrong with the Z-Engineering superchargers............
Scott replied to DORSET_V_DUBSTER's topic in Engine Bay
Nothing actually wrong with the chargers Im told in general although they are not as high quality as the vortex chargers - hence why people are moving over to them.... But the main problem is keeping the engine cool enough when running them.... at least thats what Ive heard.... a few people who have run these have had total engine failure due to oil / water temps getting too high... -
I think ive got the new style socket on my vr6, looks a bit like a scart plug under the gearlever. Does this mean its obd2 or just the connector? It means its OBD2.... there isnt any real difference other than the connector on the Corrado.... poss a difference ECU - I'm not 100% sure but I can do most of what OBD2 offers with my OBD1 VR6 with my interface for the connections and VAG COM software.... it rocks *:)
-
would you trust this man to work on your car ?? lol
Scott replied to W3RKD's topic in General Car Chat
Lovely motor that *:) -
Engine is the same - OBD2 just applies to new ECU and diags socket - it is actually no better than the original OBD1... yes is has electronic body... but 190bhp is a bit optimistic...... Ive seen a few of these rollers and not one hit more than 180bhp.... the torque figures dont match the 2.9 either......
-
High ? - Are you mad? *:) Thats TWO 5 litre cans of oil... = £20 Air Filter Oil Filter SIX NGK Spark Plugs for £53.... and that is CCGB Trade Parts Prices *:)
-
  Always one aint there *;)
