  1. Heh. Its just winter Jim, even my cherished 16vG60 is still sat in the garage covered in a layer of dust and gunge from the last time I used it, but I am looking forward to driving it again. I do really need to sell the nugget, VR6 and the GT6 this year though as I have just too many cars!
  2. Had a run-out A3 mk 1 (although 130bhp diesel s line) as a daily driver for a few months now, it feels quite Corrado esque in terms of seating and driving (but only in a VW/Audi family kind of way) and its fairly good on the old A-B but its not as much fun as a 'rado to drive hard.
  3. In a word, no. Have you tried German ebay?
  4. Yeah I don't know who that bloke is who is hiding an 'egg in the nest' hairpiece! :)
  5. A knock will cause the ECU to pull back timing but it should only be on a single cylinder and not an entire bank. Have you put it on VAG-COM to see if it sees any faults?
  6. G60s in stock trim can be pretty thrifty, I did manage 300 miles and filled 30 litres of fuel (so 45 MPG) but that was driving it like an OAP on a Sunday. As most folks have already touched on, fuel economy is all about how you drive it and not necessarily what you drive. Never owned the 8v but used to get around 350 miles of range out of my 1.8 16v on my commute to and from work so around the 32 MPG mark. As for the age old 8v vs 16v and torque feeling, some members of club GTi have invested some serious time and effort into this one, a 16v lump makes more torque than an 8v throughout the entire rev range - end of. The reason the 8v feels more torquey than a 16v below 3.5-4k is that the 16v produces a lot more torque at that point. If you really want good fuel economy then fit a diesel instead.
  7. Actually you can easily fit a rear beam into a Corrado along with 3 people. Just split half the rear seats and away you go, I did it with a VR beam complete with discs etc.
  8. Welcome! Pics worked fine, good to see a set of rear muddy flaps fitted, amazing how much they protect the bodywork - shame the front pair are missing or not fitted. As for what your car is worth, without some interior shots it's difficult to guess, yes it's low mileage but the current value of Corrados is very low and the prices you quote for some of the Storm's sold recently does not mean that was the value they actually sold for. So plucking a figure out of the air I would say around the 4k mark but as always with these things its a case of how much someone wants it and is willing to pay.
  9. As Mr Fishwick has said and others have touched on the standard exhaust does flow very well. The other plus point for the original items is that they last a very long time, you will always get 10 years plus of regular use from a genuine exhaust and around 100k before they start to fail and its usually due to high loads on the pipe joints/welds thanks to worn exhaust rubbers not being replaced. KR (1.8 16v) powered cars never came with a lambda and the 9A 2.0 16v unit is a emissions bodge to get it to meet the 1992 emissions regulations - it was never intended to refine or improve peformance. The 16v block that has a proven record of producing a lot more power is the ABF derived unit as fitted to mk 3 Golfs etc, these blocks have all the sensors that the VR has to ensure optimum efficiency but when coupled with aftermarket ECU managment regularly produce in excess of 160 bhp and lbft across a wide band of the rev range. Restrictions in an exhaust system will produce more torque and having a system open to atmosphere does not produce more power - a custom exhaust built for your engine specification might release a couple of bhp but this is unlikely. Most power gains come from removing the CAT (pre 1992 cars only or its an MOT fail) the Corrado exhaust manifold is of a good design on all varieties of engines used which is where most performance gains can be found. So if you want a new exhaust, get a custom one from a supplier that knows how exhausts work and what they need to do (its all about pulses of flow and tuned lengths of pipe) or just stick with the factory one - VW/Karmann did seem to understand how to build a good exhaust system.
  10. Ah, the joys of farming FM on the CB radios amd repairing crazy daves VRT outside the strip club!
  11. Worst bit is the downpipe, the pipe of the pair that is covered by the heatshield has a large 'dent' in it. No doubt this is to improve exhaust performance but it does seem a bit back to front. Exhausts, manifolds and intakes are complicated pieces of engineering and depending on the state of tune of your engine the exhaust length and bore may need to vary - it is also worth considering that an overbore exhaust often removes performance in a N/A powered car and can delay boost in turbo powered cars.
  12. They do fit and if you fit a pair if it almost impossible to tell. Later wings will give a slightly wider arch when fitted so if that's a look you are going for..
  13. They should be around 10mm less flare at the widest point of the arch - very difficult to tell unless fitted to a car though!
  14. I am only thining out my collection, I don't want to run the nugget into the ground by using it as a daily and having a Corrado as a daily takes away the fun of tinkering on the 'weekend' car.
  15. Location: Duffus Price: 2250.00 GBP Date added to Classifieds: 11th July 2012 Description: Up for sale is my nugget Corrado G60, I have owned the car since October 2007 and have done a lot of work to it in that time. The car has been reliable and only broken down on me once during my ownership, the lambda probe wiring shorted out and this blows fuse number 18 which also operates the fuel pump; a new lambda probe and no issues since. I regulary use the car for the 500 mile run down south to visit family and friends, its around a 9 hour drive most of it on the motorway and she has never missed a beat on these long runs. My reason for sale is that I cannot justify keeping 2 Corrados and I don't want to keep using this as a daily driver, she has been replaced with an A3 TDi instead. 16. Hi, just to say that any rear beam from a 4 cylinder Corrado would do, the G60 item is not specific to the G60.
  17. That's cuffin rubbish. Hopefully the presence of damage in his car should be pretty conclusive though.
  18. Alex, thanks for the offer mate but I am happier with it where it is right now and being SORN'ed means getting it down the road is a pain in the bum. I suspect I should get more interest in the Spring when the weather improves.
  19. Interesting, that 48 surface light version fit an early style interior light cluster?
  20. Never seen the orange one about the fuel, given the 037 part number prefix it was originally a G60 part. Be interesting to see what the quality is like.
  21. The genuine article (no longer available as previously mentioned) has an uprated NRV (non -return valve) that operates at a higher pressure in an effort to ensure the G-lader remains primed with oil. The 8v Golf item and many of the OEM type suppliers do contain an NRV but it operates at a lower pressure in theory increasing the chance of possible to damage to the supercharger on start-up. I have not had any need to check any of the OEM suppliers as yet for a G60 specific item (x-checking part numbers between the mk 2 Golf item and the G60 one) as I still have a couple of G60 ones 'in stock'. Best guess without looking would be the K&N supplied item as it is more likely to meet the OE spec.
